- Black Sabbath - "Heaven And Hell" demo com Geoff Nicholls no baixo.
No cartão embutido está escrito 'ON & ON HEAVEN & HELL ORIGINAL VERSION GEOFF PLAYING BASS'". O lado B está escrito" On + On HEAVEN HELL ORIGINAL GEOFF ON BASS 'Em nenhum lugar diz que esto é BLACK SABBATH na fita cassete. No final da música carregada, você pode ouvir uma conversa que me soa como Geoff falando e rindo.
Gary também diz:
"Eu carreguei a versão mais completa mais próxima da versão do álbum. Esta gravação, na minha opinião, é de julho de 1979 em sua casa alugada em Bel Air, Califórnia. On And On Heaven and Hell pode ter sido o título original de trabalho."
Line:
Ronnie James Dio - vocais
Tony Iommi - guitarra
Geoff Nicholls - baixo
Bill Ward - bateria
RIP two angels who didn’t make it to the official album cover
Smoking kills
Bill is especially creative on this early take. WOW ! A real treasure.
Loved Sabbath with Dio. They never sounded better. Heaven&Hell is the best Sabbath albums ever and one of the greatest metsl album's of all-time. Dio! Dio! Dio!....
I agree! My buddies older sister had Master Of Reality on 8-track when we were 10 and we played the crap out of that. Other than that, she had old KISS, Van Halen etc,. But when I was 13/14, Screaming For Vengeance and Number Of The Beast came out in '82 and those started a lifelong adventure as a headbanger! My neighbour then introduced me to Heaven And Hell and Holy Diver. I was hooked on Dio from then on! I love all the Ozzy and Dio era Sabbath, but must say I love H&H the best!
Respect for the greatest and nicest
It Was A New Chapter in Sabbath's History. Dio was A Refreshing Change
Another banger of a demo.
Holy fuck ! This is like Ronnie coming out of his Cadillac after writing the song in the driveway of the House where Sabbath were renting and trying to write with Ozzy ! To no avail ! It was magic ! For sure ! This is a gem ! You can feel it !
Dio's soft tone, wow.
Tony sounding amazing.
Band clicking already.
Thanks for this.
This demo should have been added to the deluxe Japanese version instead of the live in Hartford show that everyone has multiples of.
Who else compared the Photo with the Original Album Cover?
This is a gem.
Sheer power of this is Astonishing
Many thanks for posting
Love it! Very interesting to see the first steps of this song! 1:12 "heaven and helLlLlLl", oh, Dio and his giant vibrato😀
That photo would have made an awesome album cover, far better than the actual official one
No
No
No
Actually, yes.
No
You can clearly hear all the acid speaking out of Bill Wards drumming... 😂
Brilliant - fantastic demo
It was a different vibe having Ronnie sing and write with them. Not all the members were onboard with the direction it was going, but Ronnie was professional and hell of a nice guy. It was just hard to say this is Black Sabbath. For many Sabbath was `the Ozzy show` so, there was that for starters. Nonetheless enough people were diggin` the new Sabbath it was a success on its own.
R.I.P 1942−2010 Ronnie James Dio🎤😪
R.I.P 1944−2017 Geoff Nicholls keyboards🎹😪
Incrível! Obrigado por compartilhar!
SUPER LOVE
a gem
Very cool that this is available. You can tell that isn't Geezer on bass, the bass doesn't feel as in sync with Bill's drums
wasn't. Was Geoff Nicholls
Others have said it was uncharacteristic of Butler's lines. It'd be interesting to know if Butler adapted these or if Nicholls did more to work the original.
Foda 🤘
Wooahhh.. 2024 still mob rules
🤯🤯🤯
Show
He got the lyrics correct. Cool. No keyboards
Thanks!
So who knows the changed lyrics sung here at the end where it's supposed to be "the moon is just the sun at night...and when you walk in golden halls..."? I can't make them out.
I don't understand then either, but I've heard demos of other songs where the singer will know what rhythm he wants the lyrics to have, but hasn't written them yet, so they just say random things or even gibberish.
I can't make out the 2nd line, but the 3rd and 4th are "War is just the road to peace, let your heartbeat burn in me. It's Heaven And Hell!"
@@diodonofrio Thx!
Bill Ward !!!
Certainly not enough bass
The lyrics are different at the end. Wonder why they were changed?
Why is this not commercially available???????? I need this in my collection!!
The tapes are owned by the estate of Geoff Nicholls 🙏 former keyboard player for Black Sabbath.
Ozzy now owns 50% of the BS name so no new unreleased material can come out unless him AND tony play on it. It’s bullshit.
I wouldnt call it a demo really, its clearly a live rehearsal tape, its fantastic either way though. I actually wish they kept some of the stuff they did different here when they recorded the album, not that the album isnt an eternal classic but i really liked this tape.
It is a demo, it’s got totally different lyrics towards the end, and the structure is slightly different too.
@@aidanlynn Then you dont understand what a demo is, a demo is usually a studio recording similar to an album release, recorded in the same fashion and similar production/sound and also doesnt have to be any different to the album version regarding the songwriting, this recording is probably done on a boombox or similar mostly to remember the song. I have been in the studio myself and recorded demos with my bands.
This is a band practice tape. Not a demo ! A demo is presented to record company like an audition to try to get them to sign you and invest in your real recording.
@aidanlynn Rehearsal at Belair House 🏠 not a demo studio recording but from Geoff Nicholls tape recorder. 👌
Whatever it is, it is so cool hearing different versions of songs. Some are bad, while others can sound amazing! Glad we get to hear at lest two versions!
First four chords are the same as Snowblind
Technically no, due to The different tuning. D, E, F# vs. E, F# and G.
But yeah, same intervals and same position. Different note values.
It sounds like a hippie song that also happens to be heavy metal.
Ozzy also once bit the head off a living camel on stage
Only once. Damn.
The angel in white. Second from the right. Looks like she could be related to RJD.
He; rather than she, I believe
The only difference between Ronnie James Dio and Ozzie was that Ronnie could actually sing and write song lyrics, other than that not much difference😂😂😂
Don't be throwing shade at Ozzy!!!!
Ozzy wrote a more than you think. Most of Vol 4, Solitude, Sabra Cadabra, The Writ and a few on Technical Ecstasy.
Dio didnt just just write lyrics and sing he wrote the music for songs like Holy Diver and Dont talk to strangers himself since he played guitar and bass and i think also piano but his first instrument was the trumpet before he even became a singer which he actually did reluctantly since in the band he was in early on no one wanted to do it, its quite minblowing.
I took the dio way at holy diver vs bark at the moon as a drinking smoking rock n roll teen - dio's lyrics sucked me in as well - but when i was 12 - 13 i had this realistic radio 'shock' boom box ( radio shack. Remember ) with this bass button - took 6 D batts and i walk down my street playing over the mountain and always did and will love ozzy & rhandy , such a shame - cant blame ozzy - but even dio later writing was not so great - because there's many great paintings by monet - but only 1 or 2 masterpieces - because creativity is inspired and unpredictable - artist dont command it - they feel and then follow it - love em both
Bruh have you never listened to the “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” or “Sabotage” albums? Ozzy’s vocals are phenomenal..
Better than the studio version
The drums sound awful...Although well played...
From what l understand about this session is Tony ,Ronnie who is playing Bass/Vocals & Bill who is playing on a small kit not his full size kit, they are the only ones in the room forging the riffs & words for Heaven & Hell, Geoff & Geezer are aren't in on this session, although l could be wrong it might be recorded at Geoff's house
its a demo....
