INTP Rambles About Truth

  • And I do not even say what I mean because I think truth is in everything, clothed in metaphor and screaming from it. Now I need to go back to the Clothes Philosophy of Carlyle but also not speaking like a midwit who just discovered philosophy - but what if I am? Plato and Aristotle are my friends and other quotes INTPs put into Latin.

Its so interesting. As an INTP, i think about truth all the damn time. I always try to find the ‘truth’ in everything. You do too, that explains your existential crises.
Often when i talk to people i have to consciously remind myself that social interactions are rarely ever that deep, there is no need to be overly stressed about truth. Just play the necessary character in that conversation; it can actually be quite fun putting on masks consciously. I’m sure you’ve probably come across this idea already.
I’ve concluded there is no ultimate ‘truth’. Just different perspectives. Without sounding grandiose/arrogant, I think the entire collective human mind is also just a subjective perspective. I’ve given up on finding ‘truth’ many-a-time. However, funnily enough, i still find myself forgetting this conclusion and reverting to my INTP obsession with truth. That’s our INTP programming i guess. Since our minds never seem to STFU, we should instead diver our mental energy to something less expansive, more pragmatic and more useful for humanity.

Yea, I too have moments where I wanted to emulate crying and being emotional and being so passionately infused in something and then cringe on myself for having such thoughts of it being merely a mimicking of behaviours I see in others, I did too associated myself with god or rather the nature, and then knowing how different god is represented in other people's minds and I ahve that translation layer that I'm going through now, which she also talked about it in a DeCarte's way where the mind or experience is the only thing that I can surely know of exists and nothing else matters and all are but illusions, created by my own mind, anyway, I also pondered a lot on truth, rather than just 'the truth' which i dont think there is just one, but also there is only one truth ever, which is a reflection of what I said above which also resonates with her view on mind being with god and being one, and hence the truth is the interfacing layer, hence the translation, or rather being open-minded was never about fully accepting all the ideas of others nor to fully immerse myself into the others, but to work on that translation layer, not just on the language level, but on the perception level, which can also be calssified as a kind of 'language', just like how babies develop ability to understand grammar, even without a formal natural language basis, and that's the interfacing layer, anyway, it's kinda good to just leave a comment, even thought this is not a face to face conversation, i Think we INTPs do enjoy reading thoughtful comments from others online, though dwelling too much may affecting our thinking, I do wonder at times how much of my thoughts are actually mine, I can see it so obviously in others where they are following the flow of the trend, and influence of the others, but surely the trend gotta start somewhere, take fashion trend for example, the designers were inspired by something which then leads to the design of certain fashions, but where and how does it come to be, perhaps the nature and the universe itself is a thought, waterfall and rocks are an expression of thoughts from nature, which is then converted by other beings like humans and then calling them inspirations which then lead to generation of ideas and materialistic designs. I love this, this is like therapy specifically for INTPs, I do want to compose some music for my own pleasure,

I scored INTP in high school and I found it to be a good description of me at the time, and interesting. I've since found that I very likely have high functioning autism (Asperger's) and this gave me much more insight into the social difficulties I've always had. It gives me access to a lot of books, videos, forums, etc. One caveat is that one needs to have a strong sense of self to look down this road as some people can be upset by the label. I personally am okay with it as it's something I was born with and it's better to be aware of it. I try not to let any label limit my actions in life or define me. We all change and evolve over time.

@@BantuEconomicServices yes but houses you can leave and go to different ones. you dont have to stay in one house your whole life. Jung described the types in binaries that modern man seem to gravitate towards one or the other, he never claimed them to be a permenant fixture of all individuals but rather they're more fixed for the unindividuated individual.

@@env0x you misunderstand my real point. Going to a different house is just going to a different box hopefully you also like. In theory.
Jung’s intentions are irrelevant now. We know from modern data science that people like what they like because of their nature and nurture and will adapt their behaviors accordingly given free choices. Of course, because of Jung. But in black and grew up in a white village in the UK. Jung thought I was inferior to my peers because I have inferior mind. Which is strange because according to the classifications I have acquired doesn’t correlate. I’m not a “the original premise must always stay true” and definitely not a “great white man thinker” because most of them would spit on me if I was alive then.

@@env0x it is interesting that humans always classify things, be it objects, concepts, then we also have group theories in Maths, things that are similar or carry certain characteristics then get grouped together, yet humans each exhibit plenty of characteristics in different aspects despite having overlaps of qualities with other humans, kinda like grouping chaotic systems together and yet we can't

"It's always turned out for the best just to express directly the feelings and thoughts and ideas, but it's quite difficult. . ."
"Real life is overwhelming, but I don't live in fantasies."
"I realized that truth is actually really important and communicating emotively and sometimes impulsively, and just being a human being that can relate with other people is really important, and that's a certain type of truth as well."
"Truth and trying to be honest and trying to show up and trying to do what is morally best, also so that you can deal with yourself. . ."
"I believe there is a great suffering, but I don't believe it's an illness."
"Being able to draw boundaries and say what you think and hold yourself as who you are . . . and rest within yourself in some way and understand the line between yourself and others . . ., it's dangerous not to respect it."

As an entp, having my own pair of SFJ parents was like them forcing a helium balloon to stay tied to the conceptual ground. Until that shifted in middle school, i experienced the same maladaptive daydreaming, but with the desire to suspend my disbelief in hopes that would satisfy others whims. This clash has lead to many issues and I ended up realizing that truth can be dug up from the moral codes of others the more questions are asked.

I think you would really enjoy deep conversation with an INFJ that has a well developed Ti function. This allows for heavy use of Ni-Ti from INFJ and Ti-Ne from INTP but also without overuse of Fe from either as the focus is on intuitive thinking. Do you understand Ludwig Wittgenstein yet? Philosophical Investigations is his most famous work. I think it's crucial to understand because its like reaching a next level when you do. Actually when you understand Wittgenstein there is no reason to go back anymore after.

whenever I face a quandary of a spiritual or philosophical sort, I resort to reminding myself of what I know and can glean about the principle of Creation - what it means to bring another life into this world which is different than its Creator - of the same substance, perhaps, but yet more of something less tangible... anyway, you're not me and I'm not you so let's stop thinking Mr. 3's thinking's us two's

I don't think Jesus was an elitist. He would sit down and cry with you no matter what position in society you had. But he did insist on spiritual virtuosity, which is per definition exclusive. There are virtuous people, and there are those who are not.
Today's insistence on absolute inclusivity is based on a rejection of the classical virtues. When inclusion becomes your virtue, all other virtues disappear because they are per definition exclusive.

I don’t think that’s elitism. Drawing boundaries and following a different path that displeases and scares the ignorant is living from honesty and your truth.
You can draw boundaries politely. If that doesn’t work? You have to be willing to be forceful when needed and stand for what you want. Or maybe the wiser choice is to cut this person from your life? If they don’t know how to respect boundaries? You can always walk away. Don’t let your compassion be taken advantage of.
I think you feel this way because people don’t understand where you are coming from and take it as rude/arrogant/elitist.
You don’t have to explain it to them. But common decency is required I think. Hence, the politeness. Just say “I’m not comfortable doing that” or “I don’t want to do that”. And that’s suffice an explanation.
I think you are dealing with a social interface issue. Remember. No one knows truth. So who are they to enforce what truth is? And if they can’t comprehend what you are trying to explain. And they are being insistent. Excuse yourself politely and get the hell out of there. You don’t owe them an explanation. It’s for them to figure out. That burden doesn’t sit with you, even if you do know something they don’t. After all, they won’t listen right
