Really enjoying each day of your Inkvent videos. Nice touch with the music box. I have a somewhat related interest in old phonographs so I hope you bring back the music box every year. I look forward to the rest of the Inkvent reveals!
I'm so glad you've shared the Regina Music Box again--thank you! So cool how the crowd conversation fades as the music starts. You are so thoughtful with detail in these videos. They're not just the best Invent Calendar videos but are head and shoulders above the production value of most all of TH-cam. You have a real gift, and I appreciate your sharing it with us. My Walnut swatch remains flat--probably the paper and not the ink....
I'm glad you noticed that! I was actually thinking about, when I was a kid, there would always be a big crowd gathered at my grandparents house at Christmas, but everything else faded away when I played with the music box.
🎶 Wonderful music box! Thank you for sharing! This ink color reminds me of my bottle of Noodler’s Walnut. It’s not my favorite color ever, but it has a permanent component, which is handy for use with correspondence here in the Pacific Northwest. With finer nibs, it reads so dark that I dilute it by at least 1/3 to be able to tell it’s brown. Very much enjoying your videos!
I love this one. It's giving me burnt umber to sepia vibes, which is one of my favorite browns. So far, the only brown inks I have are Monteverde Brown Sugar (too much of a pinkish undertone), and Yule Log - which I bought because of your review of it, last year! Adding copper to brown was just *chefs kiss* perfection. But I'll definitely be buying this one for a standard brown.
I like it too, but not sure if I'll get a bottle or not. This one would have been great for some sort of painting, but when I got out my paper and brushes, I just stared at the paper for 15 minutes and it didn't inspire me.
I had high hopes for this color (I like your swatches better than what I got on Midor)i. I think I'll probably be reaching for Montblanc Toffee Brown before grabbing this one most of the time.
Yeah this one's not doing anything for me. Maybe it's because Yule Log was so pretty? I'm just kinda 'meh' about this one. Plus I dunno....it's not not really screaming 'festive' or 'Christmas' to me - not like say chestnuts. Your video though? Always superb.😊
My family always seems to have a big bowl of nuts out near the fireplace around Christmas, so nuts seem a little Christmassy to me... though this is clearly the color of walnut wood rather than walnut shells. Still, a nice color... just not great.
It’s a nice color. I won’t use it for writing most likely, just for art. I’ll probably never stray from Jacques Herbin Brun Prevenance as a writing brown, the color (and scent) really make me smile
So I swatched this one this morning and as I have been doing - showed my swatch card to my husband. Since he does a little wood working I asked if the thought the color came close to the actual wood - he couldn't say one way or another regarding the wood but his actual response made me laugh. To him it looks like poo. (Also he thinks that I have found a color ink that he would not put in a pen if he ever used fountain pens). I don't think I'd write with this one but I could see myself using it in ink drawings.
That's probably about how I'd respond if you asked me about any ink first thing in the morning :-) It does look like the color of walnut wood to me, though.
It's odd. I like the look of Walnut in the writing sample, but not so much on the swatches. In general, I am not drawn to brown inks, so this seems to be an exception.
It's been a little while since I've used the Mark Twain, but I think it's pretty well behaved. In fact, I think of all of the PenBBS inks as being pretty easy to use.
Ohh yeah, the music box, a wonderful inherited piece! Not really falling for this ink, I expected a little warmer brown, looks like a plain old walnut wood stain ( Although I loved sketching with those in art school). Pennonia's Gesztenyebarna makes an appearance once again :D

Yeah like winter spice without the spice. Haha

Ohhh I like this one. There's an extra excitement when you reveal its a standard ink.
I'm definitely always more excited about standard inks :-)

Not much for browns but ive been watching your videos after opening the doors. Hoping still for a nice green!
Ooooohhh. I am a sucker for brown inks, I really like this one. It looks even better in the written sample than the swatches.
Cool music box!

I love brown inks, so this one makes me happy! I'd buy this and Weeping Willow in a larger bottle...
I love a good brown ink. Nice shading on this one.
Nice ink for writing…🎶
Yes, this one seems like a good, practical ink.

Ooh... I like the look of Brun Prevenance. I'll have to pick up a bottle the next time I order from Cult Pens. Thanks!
I loved seeing and hearing your music box! I was expecting a little warmer brown also.
Nice brown colour.
Agreed! Nice, though maybe not spectacular 🙂

Midori didn’t do anything to blunt my Inkvert cheering. Nice color here.
This one definitely looks best on Midori, to me.

I really like the Walnut, shooting up to the top of the Inkvent list. However that penBBS 387 Mark Twain is really nice. How fast does it dry?

Yes! Avoided Pennonia pronunciation for another year 🙂
My favourite so far! Can you buy a bottle of this or is it only in the calender?
They usually release bottles of the inks in the calendar in a few months.
Yep... unless something changes, they'll have the full sized bottles available in a couple of months.
