I'm about to release a new game after winning the GMTK Game Jam 2024 with it. You can wishlist it here: store.steampowered.com/app/3215120/Blueprint_Bob/
Some other data I didn't include in the video: Highest concurrent Twitch viewers was 35,422 which was when sodapoppin played the game Wishlist conversion rate is currently at 10.6% (172 conversions out of 1688 wishlists in total) 15 Units were sold on Mac 13 Units were sold on Linux Made around $16 on this TH-cam channel during the same period 78% of the users opened the game at least once (465 users) 38% of those users beat the game (177 users) 11% got all achievements (51 users) Somehow 3 users managed to open the game without getting the achievement for opening the game (the game probably crashed LULE)
@@andresmetalowl1151 Probably true, think it's because the game relies on the jokes in the minigames instead of trying to be fun to play (even though I still think it's pretty fun to play Copesen) which means once you've seen it you don't really need to play it yourself.
Just wondering, does steam shows you any stats regardless 'gifted' copies of the game? Or are they just counts as 'sold' ? Thanks for the key anyway. t. supa rare 100% achievements linux user
Well the game is still on my wishlist. I'll probably buy it sometime soon. keep up the videos man. I definitely find this breakdown behind making a steam game very interesting
Thanks for sharing the information, that's very cool of you! 😄 By the way, I'm from Argentina and I know for a fact that people started buying more games since Steam changed the currency in the Argentina store from U$D to AR$, however the price you can see in that list (15:25) is not accurate. In Argentina there are a lot of extra taxes that you have to pay on top of that base price. I'm not sure how much because I don't live there anymore but there is a chrome extension that shows the real prices 😁
Congrats on your success-I’d say for a first game with one other person that was a great result. I’m sure you two learned so much from the process too. 👏
I'm from Chile and all my chilean friends have their steam in Argentina, I don't want to do it because I'm stupid, but that's it, I've heard is really easy.
@@SeahorseGames You don’t need Aregentina credit card, you buy csgo skins from third party then sell to steam market, is like you can get one point three dollar from one dollar skins since steam wallet money have inflation.
That's honestly not bad sales! And the thing to remember with games is that sales can come in waves. Who knows if a streamer might play it or if you release another game, more traffic will be lead to your previous games.
I live in Argentina, the price might seem like half but that's because the government adds over 50% tax so in paper we end up paying like everyone else. In reality the dollar currency here is extremely expensive and we end up paying more since we need to use the black market to get them or buy from a reseller wich usually charges x3 the steam price.
I've been thinking about tracking my time spent and what spent on in order to keep progress on track. I really really like the time spent graph you have here. I would love it if you could find the time to even toss a few sentences here about how you went about tracking it. No pressure.
hi im from Argentina and yes our prices on steam are the cheapest in the world because our economy is a mess. There are even times that certain games do the conversion to pesos wrong and end up being cheaper for a short time. until they fix it. that happened with the game " The Callisto Protocol " that it was at ARS$ 649,99 for a couple of hours and then was fixed. if u are from USA ,that is like $4.83.
13:26 That "average wage by country" graph is very interesting but take it with a grain of salt, it says $13,080/year for Venezuela but... lmao, someone must have thought the thousands separator was a fraction. Brazil seems accurate though.
You need a proxy to buy games from Argentina (which is very easy to have) - and indeed a lot (!) of sales are made like that to pay less. The only solution against it is just to not decrease the price there so much. :(
Always nice to see such overviews from beginning developers. I'm planning to start developing my first game myself, and this information is very interesting
Its really great that you tracked all of this! I'm curious what a typical conversation rates are on things like: Impressions --> page visits, page visits --> wishlists, page visits --> games sold. Do you know of where you can find things like this? do you know any of this?
@@SeahorseGames Gotcha alright. Well anyway I think its fantastic that you tracked all of these details and I look forward to seeing you keep trying to release new games!
Any updates on the total sales since posting the video? Just curious what the tail of the graph would look like close to two years later. Great job by the way!
I'm from Brazil and I have to say, the game did not sold well in Brazil because games here are REALLY expensive, and the majority of people cant really afford gaming pcs.
Congrats on the game!! Could you share how much you made per month? I’m just wondering whether this could result in passive monthly income or does it die down after a while?
I'm brazillian About brazillian sales, most people who watched your game on TH-cam are kids. And on top of that, we don't have enough money to buy games regularly so watching gameplays on TH-cam instead of actually buying the game is VERY common.
Hello Alexander. Just wanted to say, and I'm trying not to be a dick here but give a bit of constructive criticism, that your game seems to have a very simple gameplay, so it's hard to expect lots of people buying it despite thousands of twich viewers. Twitch creators played it for the lulz, as the title suggested. I'm sure a bit more engaging game mechanic would draw more buyers. Good luck with your next projects!
Did the sales drop after the first month or is it still generating sales? Considering its just 1 month of sales it sounds like it could be quite profitable if the sales continues to roll in?
@@SeahorseGames Well thats really really good actually if you ask me :) You should make a video on marketing advice and how to bring attention to your game
I'm from Argentina, I can buy any game I want, it's super cheap for us. And it's even cheaper than it looks because $1 = 320 ARS, a game that's $20 cost 225 ARS for us, and that's $0.70! The only problem is if we buy it depositing money to steam, we have to pay our goverment 60% because for international purchase fee, but that would be 360 ARS or $1.12 still. I always buy them with steam wallet funds, that I get from investing and selling items on the community market. I wish I could gift games to anyone but they are only giftable to my region, south america.
I'm not sure you can even have ads on steam games, I have never seen that. But I definitely think I would have made less if you could. The reason I believe this is that I don't think the game would have reached a much larger audience if it was free. More people would obviously have played it but I don't think the ad-rev from that would have been enough.
Happy to hear you worked out for you! The anticipation and slight dread that settles in before releasing can be intense, so it going well is so relieving. I wouldn't worry too much about the wage per hour - you are still studying, and having your already second game out and it actually making money, with people buying it and being happy after the purchase is awesome and a great place to build upon.
Yeah I’m very happy with it, I just like to compare numbers 😄 Looking forward to dome romantik btw 😉 (maybe it’s called something else, can’t quite remember lol)
