It was once stated in one of the comics that most badniks were built from solid titanium. I’d be willing to bet most Metal Sonics and other Metal Series badniks are the same, or some sort of alloy. Personally, I would use Coltan: a colbalt-titanium alloy used in most Terminators.

Notable examples include Tails in Charge where he accidentally got Sonic turned into stone and has to tackle Scratch and Grounder on his own to get the laser back and turn Sonic back to normal; Tails' Tale where Sonic goes missing and he teams up with his idol to find him; and Tails Prevails where he builds Sonic a plane for his birthday. That's a lot more than SatAM Tails ever did.
