1975 the company I worked for was running their gravel washer 24/7 for a highway project. I worked 12 hour shifts mostly on a 645. They had a 745 FA, Euclid's and various others rented. Day shift I'd load 50 ton on the semi dumps as they had a short haul and no weight limit. When you got off the machines for break you greased them. I'd loved to have one of them on our farm.
Anyone who is having issues with video not loading, I closed and restarted my TH-cam app and reloaded video than it worked, I think it’s a TH-cam issues nothing on Matt’s side
Yes youtube kills links every24/hr and you have reload video.. happens around 4am.. everytime i watch a video fall asleep wake up in the morning the video is killed and i have reload.. ?????
*You have a wonderful assistant, so willing to get in and get dirty, whilst being so helpful. I used to operate one just like her and let tell you that s a damn good machine I can tell you give her some TLC and as long as don't let her just sit she'll last you a great long time. Mother nature has a way of killing even the hardest piece of equipment. Good luck Good video's
@5:42 - before I watch this - my old buddy had a Case backhoe. That machine ran fine for about 20 minutes and then the brakes would lock up. After it cooled down, it rolled fine - for a bit. It turns out that the previous owner had topped the brakes up with brake fluid when the machine called for hydraulic oil for the brakes. A flush and a fill fixed it right up! Back to the video.
ca·thar·ti·c - evacuating the bowels; purgative Had to look that one up since Greek is all Greek to me. Funny thing is I had to poop too, but I thought it was just the prunes I ate.
That thing is in such nice shape! Usually them old ones have just had the shit beat out of them and everything is bent and all the glass is broke or gone but she’s straight 👍 real nice size loader too
The loader looks like it is only 2- 3 years old. Except for the seat. Because the old red looked worse. When I see loaders in Germany that are 5 or 10 years old and in continuous use, they often look more used, more closed.
O the memory's,, my dad was an Allis Chalmers mechanic for years ! Worked out of Syracuse ny, i Helped him work on a lot of equipment. I ran the. 840 and 940 loaders never got the chance to run a 645 .. Thanks for sharing 👍
I am so glad to see you clean things off before you dig into them. Every time I see someone start work on a crusted, filthy piece of equipment, every OCD nerve in my body screams!
Is there anything you don't know about these pieces of equipment?? You are amazing, & it's so great that you're teaching your little brother!! God bless y'all 👍💞
I was heartbroken when I didn't get to hear the horn blow. And I really wanted to know how you fixed the fuel shut off. I enjoy these types of videos. Keep up the good work.
Didn't hear if the horn cleaning fixed the horn, but if so did not hear them. Thanks for the video. Good runner. Music keeps us from hearing the sounds of the engine at 10:00
Glad you got video issue resolved! Hurray on it being a runner. No stream tap to retry. Refreshed no luck. It shows up as multiple chapters but won’t load individual chapters
I never doubted once that you wouldn't get that baby running !! What a sweet machine my brother !! You are da man !! ATF, radiator work, check for brake leaks and you own a loader a working loader!! Ha life is good 👍👍
Sounds like the idle is set too high. Normal idle sounds like after you shut the key off. Appears to slam into gear. Probably linked to why it won’t shut down. Great machines, we used a 645 and a 745 with log forks on a logging job to load trucks and manage landing etc. Thanks for the video.
She moves!!! I love the bit at the end when you said "we haven't blown any hydraulic hoses, but we haven't done any work yet". It's the "yet" that I love, would it be a real salvage if at least 1 hose doesn't spring a leak? I think not!! 😂 👍👍👍👍👍
Make sure you check some Allis loaders took hydraulic oil for transmission so make sure and check before running to long. Great job great video series.
Like the Name "Work Horse Allis" really recently had a stroke and trying to get through cancer love the short videos and still love seeing old equipment brought back to life more then watching new equipment if I new where my grandfather's stuff went after he died he had 3 of the fuel pumps you worked on. All were tested and were working perfect.I restored all 3 pumps in will try to ask his niece still living in Bowling Green, KY if she knows where those and the other prices to his 645 went after he died. Parts he still had was the replacement radiator, never installed, fuel pumps, 2 hydraulic steering lines, and the air compressor, and add on hydraulic PTO we took off went his engine block cracked minutes after the drive shaft snapped. If I find out I will post on one of you future videos who to contact if they are available so you have access to them in the future.
I'm sorry to hear of your health struggles! I'll keep you in our prayers! If you could find those parts, I would definitely be interested in them! This old beast is tough to find good quality parts for! Either way, I'm glad you're enjoying the channel, and stay strong my friend!
He told her if his brother didn't sell he won't sell but if still on the farm he will give it away to see one work again and they have to get it moved other equipment may be available they are selling the farm in March due to his father's will he can't sell before then

Seeing the empty feed lot reminds me so many farms that have had the same thing happen around here. So many farms has stopped raising cattle. Can't be a good thing...
So glad to see the old gal rumbling along, sounds like she might give you as good as your money. 3 cheers for Allie & so glad you are back doing the videos.
" Old sad eyes Alice" or "Angry Alice". Way cool work! Enjoy every video, love to see things get fixed! I love to fix vintage tools and very small engines, .049 to 60 ci.
On older diesel engines we used to add 1/2 to a full quart of Dexron ATF to the diesel fuel. It would clean and lube internal parts and add a point or two to the cetane rating.
Lovely old machine. Overall seems in good nick same as the last one. They seemed to have fairly well looked after their machinery on this farm. Big factor they are under cover.
hi Matt , i think the shut off solenoid might work if you turn the idle down, it probably cant move the metering valve enough because its fighting the governer spring. just a thought. keep up the good work
If it was my guess the c clip that holds the throttle shaft in the pump could be put in backwards. Or maybe the governor assembly isn’t correct. It’s running way to high for rpm. But when you turn key to off position, it goes to idle. The timing seems to be spot on as far as that goes. Just my two cents. Great video! Glad to see the old equipment isn’t going to scrap yard.
So happy you've got the fluids pumping thru her heart and vital organs! I absolutely love the windows on the cab, reminds me of a locomotive! Cheers from Nova Scotia 🇨🇦
When I farmed, I used to buy transmission fluid in two and a half gallon containers. If I was low, I generally would give it a couple of gallons. Most of these units have large capacity for the fluid. I remember that in one of the John Deere’s, there was a cap behind the seat that was a filler for transmission fluid. I would take these 2.5 gallon jugs up there and fill with a funnel. I love your program. Had you mentioned Matt from Pennsylvania? You know, the Diesel Creek guy? I think you two were cut from the same mold.
Matt that was outstanding loved to see breaks work and Trans work this is still going on so can't wait for next video as alwaysthank you for taking us along
put a couple tablespoons of coffee grinds in the radiator ;-) did it on a 91 GMC with an intake leak that was squirting on the inside of the hood , never did change the intake gasket , it held a few years till I scrapped the truck due to the ring gear going .
@@docholliday3150 lmfao , it was a 91 GMC 3/4 ton I bought from a scrap yard for 200$ , ran it for years , drove it back to the same yard . pulled the wheels battery and left a bill of sale in the glove box for them lol
