I'm glad I watched the whole video instead of merely commenting. The 18 year old received a 10 year sentence because there are degrees of homicide. You would expect a person to receive a sentence for killing a child while they were driving if the child ran out into the road from between parked cars or from behind a bush. You killed a child yes, and you should be punished, but the punishment shouldn't be the same as if you intended to murder someone. This kid was fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed and crashed into other cars, killing the occupants, but it wasn't intentional, thus the lighter sentence. It wasn't murder.

When you take off at a high rate of speed you accept the consequences of those actions that you could hurt someone. There’s also the rule that if you kill someone while in commitance of another crime that can be considered first degree murder. ALSO since he killed three people he was undoubtedly hit with three counts meaning three ten year sentences that he could have served back to back but the judge made it so he could serve them all at the same time. So yes this bastard could have been sentenced to more time.

    • @toshikotanaka3249

@@Minuet888 - "There’s also the rule that if you kill someone while in commitance of another crime that can be considered first degree murder"
I'm sorry Perry Mason, but you're mistaken. The law is...If you're with another person/persons who commits a felony, even though you didn't actually commit the act, you also will be charged with a felony. His crime was squealing his tires in a parking lot before he sped off to avoid the police. Hardly a felony. Everyone thinks they are a lawyer.
Being charged with 1st degree murder means that the homicide was committed intentionally. If you kill someone but you never intended to, meaning it was accidental, you cannot be charged with 1st degree murder. a 1st year law student could have those charges dismissed.

How then, could he possibly turn around and give a 10 year (will turn out to be a 5 year) sentence? This is not justice. An absolute disgrace. This judge and others like him just continue to put the dregs of society back on the street to put the rest of us in danger. I would hope if it happens to his family he might react differently in the future.

The female cop who shot and killed Botham Jean inside his own apartment in Houston while he sat eating a bowl of ice cream, and watching a football game was also given only 10 years and I saw no one crying over that injustice. These court injustices occurs often in judicial settings..

I thought he had executed three guys, which would’ve been murder. But it was an accident, which brings the case down to manslaughter. So I understand the 10 year sentence.

Hopefully he gets prison justice, or street justice. These pigs and government protect murderers.

It's like the country u live in, work hard in, pay taxes in, and abide by its laws, only to have it turn on you by equating your loved one's life(when u do the math)to about 3 years of punishment..

Why only 10 years ??? Its not fare. This make you want to take the law into your own hands

It should have been longer but because it was a car accident and a young driver, the judge was more sympathetic.

@@jeanettesmith765 Not really an accident, it was a crash caused by recklessness.and indifference to human life.

Manslaughter carries a less sentencing than actual murder
