As annoying as the original Frozen was, the characters had purpose and heart. Olaf symbolized the childhood innocence of the sisters since he was made by kid Elsa to entertain Anna. He saved Anna in the end. In the second one, he's NOTHING but comic relief. Kristoff became NOTHING but a background character. Arendale was very important in the first film, but now it's barely anything because they're focusing on Elsa's identity. They tried to flesh out the parents but with underwhelming development. At least the original had heart; I felt like the second one is one big exposition sequel instead of world building.

They actually made the parents worse because at least with the first movie they wete naive about magic so they did whatever they were told to do thanks to that pebbleman.
Yet, Frozen 2 shows they were aware of magic, especially Iduna, so you'd think after being told Elsa and Anna would have to be separated for life, as well as Anna's memories being removed, they'd go to Athohollan to get a freaking second opinion on that night!

Let's not also mention how the cut scene for them parents wanting to explain everything to Anna cause they didn't wanna seem like they were leaving her in the dark and showing favoritism to Elsa. They instead make it very clean who the favorite was (before the incident with Elsa)with the mom and Elsa, they were gonna show them actually caring for both and feeling that Anna should know only to not get the chance which would have been great for Anna's plot while Elsa had her plot going on finding herself.

It actually is world building, but instead of the smart enjoyable way the whole story is just an infodump of lore for a world that didn't need it, because the original stood on its own for its messages instead of just trying to court the lore nerds to fill a wiki, and as a result frozen 2 is so boring and cliche

Ice is literally just frozen water. Her being the water spirit would've made for more of a plot-twist while having a spirit literally named the ice spirit was way too obvious. He’s not even a good villain and they’re mentioning them like he’s a GOATed villain? They didn’t even mention Turbo ONCE in the Wreck it Ralph sequel even though he’s much better of a villain and at least SORTA thematically connected to the plot more due to Vanellope (his victim) going Turbo, aka game-jumping.
    This is just straight-up disrespectful.

I just feel bad for Santino Fontana, Hans voice actor, who actually wanted to come back for the sequel. I feel it is just really disrespectful.
Also Once upon a time, one of my favorite shows of all time, wanted to give him a backstory, maybe even redemption arc. I believe Hans would have been a perfect "villain" to redeem, I mean they did redeem Regina who actually did kill like thousand of people. But Disney Was like: "We want to have the opportunity to redeem him IF we make a sequel". Wow that aged Well.

And if you look at the director… specifically Lee… ya… she is one of those toxic feminist that think men are to blame for everything.
It’s pretty obvious especially in the sequel where she even went as far as ruining Kristoff to make Elsa and Anna look good.

I saw the making-of for this movie and it was really eye-opening. Even the people making the movie couldn't settle on who the voice Elsa was hearing was supposed to be! it's no wonder why watching this movie felt so weird. They really needed more time, but it felt like Disney absolutely REFUSED to make a delay. They already had Captain Marvel, Avengers Endgame, Toy Story 4, the live-action Aladdin and live-action The Lion King. Did they really need ANOTHER big theatrical release that year? it's like all they cared about was making sure Frozen 2 was out for the holiday release even if the story needed work.

    • @anni1348
      @anni1348 ปีที่แล้ว +27

And in the documentary we also see that they cut a lot of scenes and rewrote the script, after a screen test with children didn't do as well as they expected. So they wanted to make it easier to comprehend for children, by cutting down scenes where major plot points got explained. It's baffling to be honest, this could have been a great continuation to the fist movie, but given the short time span they had for making the movie, the rewriting and important scene cutting, the writers not knowing clearly what storyline they are going for, kinda ruined a lot. The songs and the overall ideas for the story are great, but the execution for the movie as a whole wasn't that good.

    • @hunterolaughlin
      @hunterolaughlin ปีที่แล้ว +55

The film did NOT throw Elsa’s development in the first film away in the sequel. Elsa leaving her kingdom in this one is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from when she left in the first film. In the first film, Elsa left due to fear of her powers and the fear of the citizens of Arandelle, thinking her to be a potential monster that could cause danger with her ice powers and since she was their queen and had power over them at the time, they assumed she could use them at any time against them. So in that film, she left to keep herself as well as her people safe so she wouldn’t risk hurting or even potentially killing them with her powers.
In Frozen II, Elsa leaving is fulfilling the duty the elemental spirits assigned to her as part of the other half of the bridge, also know as the fifth spirit, being the guardian of the elements and the Northuldran and maintaining the relationships between the Northuldran and the spirits. So, she’s not living as a hermit as she has the Northuldran tribe in the Enchanted Forest and the Elemental Spirits to watch over.
Also, did you forget that the ending shows Elsa mounting Nokk to ride to Arandelle to visit her sister for family fun night, basically confirming she hasn’t entirely abandoned her kingdom?

That's actually a problem that most Disney sequels face.
Also, I don't think Elsa had any character development in the first film as she just did what the plot demanded without any character-driven motivation. She doesn't stop being a hermit because she realizes it's bad for everyone, she does it because Hans literally dragged her to the palace and then she decided to stay because Anna's act of true love somehow made her control her powers.

He’s certainly the most consequential character in the franchise, as his idea of locking his daughter away in order to protect her, her sister, the kingdom, and himself (and his image) ultimately has the unintended consequence of nearly destroying all of those things.

Also she liked being a queen. She was literally raised for that role. Suddenly frozen 2 is trying to tell me she actually hates it and wants to abandon her kingdom and go live in a forest. That sequel is such a bad joke.
And the world-building... *facepalm* frozen 2 has the most bland and boring lore I've ever seen in a fantasy movie. Finally! Someone that understands Elsa and Frozen! You’re absolutely right and I agree with everything you said. Frozen 1 Elsa was almost perfect and one of my favorite Disney characters of all time. She loved being queen and cared about her family and kingdom more than anything. She sacrificed her personal freedom because of her fear of hurting her loved ones. When she learned to control her powers, she no longer had to make that sacrifice and could live happily ever after with the people she loves most. We see that theme continued in the Frozen shorts like Frozen Fever and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. She loved being queen.
Then in Frozen 2, they threw everything great about her character out the window like you said. She cared more about being a spirit than being with her family. She left her kingdom to live with these indigenous people she just met even tho she judged Anna in Frozen 1 for wanting to be with someone she just met. She also was bothered by the cold in F2 even tho she famously said “The cold never bothered me anyway” She also cared more about the fire lizard and water horse that almost killed her and her family. These are just a few examples of how they ruined her character.
I could go on longer but I’ve already said enough. The ending of Frozen 2 makes me so mad. I wish Frozen 1 was a stand alone movie. Frozen Fever and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure are better sequels to Frozen 1 than F2 was.
I also hate the white dress and loose hair for Elsa. It’s so pale and the loose hair doesn’t fit her. It suits Rapunzel better. I liked Elsa’s iconic braid and her blue ice dress from Frozen 1. They literally have 10 outfits total for Anna and Elsa in the sequel (5 for Anna and 5 for Elsa) which is insane because they only had 4 total in Frozen 1 (2 for Anna and 2 for Elsa). They also shoved characters aside to have them sing solos songs that no one cares about like that stupid song Kristoff sang. They also made a stupid fire lizard and a water horse to sell toys. It was obvious they were trying to make as much money as possible and were willing to ruin the characters for the sake of it 🙄 it pisses me off

I actually got very obsessed with Frozen when it came out because I *really* wanted to like it. The characters were interesting, the setting was cool (pun intended), and the songs were amazing. But... omg, I could just never get behind the story lol. At least in the musical they expanded on all of the characters, and it felt more coherent overall.
Then Frozen 2 came out and my obsession evaporated faster than an snowman in summer lol. It was just so badly done! And the ending made absolutely no sense whatsoever. I even stopped liking the characters I'd fallen in love with in the first movie; everyone sucks now.
Tbh I have absolutely zero expectations for Frozen 3. it seems it'll just be yet another cash grab.

I can completely agree with you,I was once in love with the film and was mainly a fan of Anna cause although she made the dumb mistake of falling in love with the first man she met,she was a good character that I could see potential in.
Like how much she had been pretty much carrying the kingdom on her back while Elsa hid away, always checked on Elsa even if she did get to see her.Still loved Elsa and had a smile on her face seeing her when she had no memory of why Elsa shut her out.I was honestly surprised that girl did have any form of depression from the sucky life she got stuck with and having no idea how it happened.
Then we get frozen 2,where they disregard everyone except Elsa and mostly for merch purposes. The cut scenes could have saved the frozen franchise but they didn't put them in which is saddening and made me no longer love the it but just get annoyed that is basically "The Elsa movie but there are these guys too I guess."

It would've been interesting for Anna to get fire magic. Fire is inherently destructive, but it can also create light and warm people up. I would've liked to see Anna come to this realization on her own. She also could've had conflict with Elsa due to being afraid of hurting her since heat can melt ice. Her emotional outbursts would've made her start losing control of her powers, but Elsa would be able to reassure her, proving how much she has grown since the first movie.

Frozen 2 should've been a miniseries, about ten episodes, each 45-60 minutes. That way, the other characters, plot, the world building, and themes could've been more fleshed out. I mean, they did it for Tangled. But, apparently, it was more important for them to make their deadline as they've never missed one than to make an interesting story that could've been darker and more complex but would've taken them more time to develop. Maybe I'm wrong, but Disney could've risked that change of direction. Captain Marvel, Endgame, Spiderman: Far From Home, and Toy Story 4 made billions. They were well set and could've done it.

Each step, no matter how small, is one step forward. You can't unlearn growth, even if it feels like you're going backward. The seeds are planted. The song resonates with so many people, not just those who have lost loved ones but everyone struggling.
I realized that when I say Frozen 2 is better, it's actually the songs that I like better. Specifically, if listened to as a soundtrack. I kinda like the first Frozen and agree to brush aside many of its flaws, the second one however.
I have to say, I disagree with every single ideology presented in that film.
We're being told by the so-called Spirit that the old king did some bad thing in the past. That is just one sided story since we don't get to see or hear anything from the old king's side. The conflict between him and the magic forest is the main plot and we already have a serious issue in its principle. We're being persuade to believe in finding the voice, finding truth without considering both circumstantial or hard evidence. We just have to believe everything the magic say.
    Why?
I have suspicion when the main character utter these words and it strikes me hard when I saw the "memories scene" in the ice cave. That scene is the perfect example of information manipulation. Showing "truth" as things that we know to be true like events from the previous film then "half-truth" for story of the girl's parents that we know some but not the rest follow by, if you already fall for the tricks, "lie". This is a common practice in propaganda and Disney put it into this film. It's not just the plot but the principle behind it that bothers me. You take the testimony from one side of the dispute to judge the other side.
The film intentionally discards the element of the town's folks so the audiences won't care about them, showing the snowman playing with kids after they're being thrown off their bed in the middle of the night then marching them in a panic parade up hill several miles out to make the audiences think it is OK for everyone. Worse, the film has Elsa, the main character saying "whoever did this is good". This is in everyway 'not good'. This is an indiscriminate attack against civilian, not just people of Arendelle but foreigners who live or work or simply being in town at the moment ate affected. It is established since Frozen that Arendelle is connected to the world.
Elsa being 'a Spirit entity' instead of 'Human' with special ability attached to her is undermining everything at the ending of the first film. In Frozen, Elsa is person with ice power that can be seen as good or bad, depending on how she use that power. The accident on Anna cause her to look at the bad side of that power for the most part. It's the guilt that pulls her away from everyone including her family. The ending of Frozen isn't just Elsa overcoming the guilt and the fear but also acceptance from people. In one fanfic, Elsa said "I have this power, but it's not all that I am." I think that's the clear definition of Who Elsa truly is, not What she is. Elsa is the person not the power.
Frozen II throw away the person in Elsa. Despite having both father and mother humans, she cameout to be a magical entity purposefully created for the use of the Spirit. Not talking about non-consent from her mother or whether any of her father's genetic material being part of her creation or not since the Spirit doesn't seem to cate if the man is dead or alive(it tried to kill him when hes a boy). Elsa in Frozen II eas born a magical creature, on par with other magical creatures in the magic forest. She can never choose to be otherwise because that is What she is, the power. Elsa in Frozen II can be the most insufferable, horrible, awful, despicable person and still being "the fifth spirit" as long as she has the power because it's the only requirement she needs.
And Disney made kids believe that's a good thing.
There are so many problems in mindsets, ethos, ideologies, heck even morality in the film Frozen II. Most of the bad films are just boring, badly written or dumb. Frozen II is in a different category. The biggest problems isn't from rushing or too many ideas to put in. It is the direction that lead to what it is.
"I have the power to protect me, you don't." Elsa in Frozen II saying this into Anna's face. The very power that nearly killed Anna twice in Frozen. It's easy to overlook the important aspect of of it since people don't get to learn the excruciating pain Anna had to go through as parts of her body slowly turned into water at molecular level then almost in an instance, crystalize against the parts of her that are still living flesh.
I almost yell "F..You" in the theater when I heard those words.

You’re so right! They really ruined Elsa in F2. In Frozen 1, Frozen Fever, and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, she was a normal person with magical powers, and had a kind, reserved, caring, selfless, and introverted personality. She was introverted but also cared about her family and kingdom more than anything. In F2, she was a magical creature whose entire personality was just that. I miss Elsa from Frozen 1. It wouldn't have saved the film but it would have been way better if the wave destroyed Arendelle. It works with the story they've set up and it also just doesn't make any sense that Elsa, even with the water spirit, would make it from Ahtohollan to Arendelle fast enough to stop the water. They took a long journey to the forest, and then Elsa took another long journey to Ahtohollan where she fell maybe a hundred feet into a cave, there's NO WAY she's making it back in time. Plus, imagine if Arendelle was destroyed (not badly) and Anna came back and told the citizens not to worry, and that they could fix this, acting like a leader. Elsa comes back, devastated to see she was too late to stop the water but notices Anna being a leader and cheering everyone back up. She decides to give the throne to her. This film looks gorgeous and a lot of the music is great, so I'm sad the story sucks ass.

Frozen 2 was a sequel you can tell had no direction. Nobody working on this movie had an idea that they said, "Let's put this shit to paper and make it great." It's a cash-grab and that's it. Not to mention they completely undid Elsa's character arc in the first movie and she yet again isolates herself and forces Anna and Olaf to leave her behind. Did Disney forget about a little thing we like to call DEVELOPMENT???

for frozen 2, they really should’ve gone with a plot that didn’t mean hijacking Elsa’s character development. In frozen 1, elsa actually was ok with being Queen at the end. this is very confirmed by Olaf’s frozen adventure and Frozen fever. So why suddenly did she want to leave and live in the forest? imo, despite it being cliche, they should’ve gone with a Hans revenge storyline/redemption storyline. Whichever. or if they wanted to do something different they could’ve done the whole finding out the grandfather was evil schtick, but gone about it without making elsa this fifth spirit.

i feel like a good concept for the film wouldve simply been the origin of elsa’s powers. they should’ve kept that as the main focus instead of throwing in all the other nonsensical stuff. i saw a comment saying elsa could’ve been blessed by the water spirit and that’s why she has ice powers. they could’ve had her and anna going on the adventure together instead of being split up like a repeat of the first film. kristoff could’ve been with them too, and they could’ve included some nice bonding moments for him and anna along the way. the voice could’ve still been linked to elsa’s mother. they could’ve kept the plotline about her parents bonding with the forest people without all the stupid “her grandfather built a dam and that’s the villain” plot. a new villain could’ve been introduced. so many routes they could’ve taken and they settled for a pretty lousy one.

Frozen 2 tried to expand the world too much. It introduced two brand new locations (the forest and the iceberg), many new but irrelevant characters, the spirits, the king and queen's backstory, and the context surrounding the damn. The film also tried to give Kristoff and Olaff their own plotlines, which is honestly unnecessary, as they worked fine as supporting characters in the first movie. That is way too many elements to balance at the same time, and the film clearly didn't have enough time to flesh everything out, which resulted in a rushed and poorly explained plot.

@@carissaap7003 glad you asked. Well she’s the director, so of course she’s responsible for the majority of the movie’s problems. I’ve also heard tons of people say that she decided before production that she wanted Anna to become queen and have the sisters separate, which is dumb because the whole first movie was about them getting back together. Lee ruined Elsa’s character in F2 by making her in love with nature and hating Royal life and her time in Arendelle. Elsa clearly loved royal life and enjoyed being queen. She was just happy to be with her sister and kingdom. The song “When we’re together” from Olaf’s Frozen Adventure proves that Elsa always wanted to be with her family more than anything, and that’s what brings the most joy to her.

I think we are at the point where movie studios need to be challenged to justify sequels, both in-universe and out.
Are there loose threads in the last movie? Is there a another story or character arc to advance? Is there an overall plot so that even if the original feels perfectly self-contained like the first Star Wars movie, you can realistically promise there's more to gain than just nostalgia or shock value by going back to the story and characters?
If you can't answer even one of those questions in the affirmative, then unless your series/franchise is episodic by design (ex. James Bond, Indiana Jones), then its probably not worth the trouble.
Now here's a crazy idea: what if Hans was the protagonist to a spinoff preceding this movie, fresh from the events of the first, but with no contact in the film itself with the main characters? Think about it: imagine going on an adventure with a villain whose forced to realize what he did was wrong, has to cope with a ruined reputation of his own making, and after exploring how he became this way (on screen, I do not approve of relying on supplementary material to explain why characters do what they do), he slowly claws his way back to becoming a decent man, then an actual hero.
For this, lets go with something simple: pirates that were ravaging his island home kidnapped one of the few people who loved and looked out for him growing up, and now he's trying to save them, but no one in his own kingdom or the surrounding ones trust him enough to lend any help or resources, so now he has to do it on his own. Just for the added appeal of a foil, lets say this pirate is a former sailor that he admired as a kid, but who became a villain over bitterness, ambition, and greed, and at several points, he tempts Hans to join him, but Hans is both focused on saving the previously mentioned loved one, and disgusted by the damage the villain unleashes on his own people, and this is what makes him see the man he was turning into and gets him to repent. No or little magic, just a swashbuckling adventure where he can fight the guy sword to sword, and slowly build his own following after proving himself over and over again.
Imagine a spinoff like that, and only after reestablishing Hans as an actual hero, we get a Frozen II that finally reunites him with the main cast, who still don't trust him since they haven't actually seen his change, and he has to convince him of his betterment while also dealing with another threat that involves all of them-IDK, the Duke decides to get revenge and also enrich his country by starting a general conflict, and while Elsa can defend her own kingdom, the ones she's trading with are not so lucky, and moreover well...people are dying, so its a thing worth stopping. Perhaps even include an arms race as people like the Duke try to make weaponry to counter her powers, and she's slowly being outgunned and worn down after trying to handle such a foe on her own.

Since we're talking about it, I might as well pitch the half-cocked idea I got watching Frozen 2: douche-canoe. What if Anna were the one who got a calling for adventure? She finally got her sister back, she found true love, and the gates are opened - what more could she want? She tries to quiet that voice down but it won't leave her alone! There's internal conflict there but it's in line with her curious and headstrong personality. Plus, if Elsa (*who is magical) is the bridge between worlds, it makes more sense to have her be a Queen in the regular human world, and for Anna (*who is non-magical) to be the *other* half of the bridge, and she spends time in the magic world. This will sell many more Anna dolls.
Elsa can adventure with her part of the movie, and return to the kingdom to do ice powers and get an outfit change. This will sell many Elsa dolls.
My half-cocked idea might not be so half cocked.
To be fair to idea-havers, they started animating before finalizing a script. So someone on the team probably had a similar idea - many good ideas no doubt - but the producers animated themselves into a corner before fleshing out the script.

Honestly, while it's still a "fan-fiction" TV Series, the Once Upon A Time arc with Ingrid and it's "sequel story" is honestly way better and even a highlight in the middle-seasons of that show (whose "arc" form after S2 was a HUGE MISTAKE, b4 that it went on for 4 or 15+ episodes with what was central to the story)-humorously the "Snow Queen" one got an extra episode). There was also no Olaf, only the elder troll. You are told about the mother, a hidden secret, Ingrid is a real actually sympathetic villain whom was over the edge and broken yet she made way too much sense. She also froze the kingdom for a really long time. And put herself through hell just to not be lonely after making a mistake (she was offered training and said nope the gloves).
Even worse is this arc may have been a note but it totally wasn't planned and even feeling a little forced is better than the awful Frozen 2 mom plot, the fire lizard thing, and people trapped in some "out of time" land. Funny, that same show did a REALLY BAD "out of time" plotline the following season b4 Frozen 2 even had an official release date lol.

Ice being the secret fifth element doesn't make any sense because -- like Aldone said -- it's just frozen water. I wished we saw more Elsa and Anna's parents living in the forest instead of Elsa leaving her sister AGAIN to live with strangers. Apparently, she is obligated to be there because she's a spirit. First, that makes no sense. Second, ice is solid water. Third, the fifth element is Aether not ice. Fourth, the queen is not feeling sad to abandon her sister or for; forzing her heart which KILLED Anna, sending a giant monster after her because Elsa refuses her help, almost making every villagers freeze to death with a storm. She was kind in Frozen 1 because she made all of her decisions (admittedly some of them were poor) with good intentions. She isolated herself out of fear and wanted to protect everyone. She was willing to sacrifice her freedom and personal life so that her loved ones would be safe. When she realized her power froze the kingdom and she hurt Anna, she started panicking and made even worse decisions but her intentions were still pure. When she finally learned to control her power, she could finally be free and not have to isolate herself anymore, meaning she no longer had to sacrifice her personal life. She could finally be with her sister and her kingdom. It was a happy ending.
In Frozen 2, I agree with you that she wasn’t kind anymore. She was unhappy with her family (even tho that was all she wanted in the first movie, completely retconning the story 🙄) She was so self-centered and cared more about becoming a spirit than being with her loved ones and pushed them away for the sake of finding herself because learning to control her powers in the first movie wasn’t enough I guess 😒 I wish Frozen 1 was a stand alone movie. Frozen Fever and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure felt more like sequels to me than F2 did. Hopefully Frozen 3 fixes the story and characters but unfortunately I don’t think that’ll happen 😓

I had totally different ideas for Frozen 2 ever since I first saw it in theaters.
I imagine a new protagonist named Silver. At first glance, Silver almost looks like a male Elsa but he contrasts her in a lot of ways: Silver is 20 years old, he's been trained at a young age to be a soldier and so his ice powers are more weaponized and combat-based, he doesn't have any ice-based clothing like Elsa, he's actually dressed in black soldier uniform, and he can't create sentient snow creatures. He is more comedic than Elsa but not the same way as Olaf. It's later revealed that Silver is Elsa and Anna's cousin.
My Frozen 2 is a darker fantasy story somewhat based on Doom 3 and prototype 2 and it features Norse Mythology. The antagonistic demons are the inhabitants from Muspelheim (Realm of fire) Silver is sent here with a squad to help eliminate the threat caused by a rouge rock troll and save Arendelle.
Its revealed that Silver and Elsa's ice powers come from Nifflheim (realm of ice)
Silver loses his squad comrades, one by one, Elsa temporary lose her powers which causes Olaf to melt away. The leader of Silver's squad and Silver's superior, whom we can just call Sarge, is the last antagonist Silver kills right after the troll. Sarge is not a twist villain like Hans, he just goes insane as he turns into one of the fire demons and Silver had to stop him.

The one thing that pisses me off more than anything about that entire movie, is that the whole, "Anna is the other side of the bridge" is a huge farce. It was just thrown in to make her seem important. To me, Anna should have been the fifth spirit. It was her love that helped Elsa, it was her love, faith and support that got them all that far, and yet this entire movie was just the Elsa show. I would understand if Elsa was the Guardian of Ahtohallan. Because it's a glacier, but her being the fifth spirit is a huge stretch. And if Anna was really as important as Elsa, why doesn't she have any magic? Not that she needs it, but with how much she's done, she's earned it. It just seems like saying she was the "other side of the bridge" was a huge cash grab and makes no sense.

Whenever I have a discussion about it, people are always like, "Anna doesn't need magic it'll ruin her character" and I'm like, "Of course she doesn't need magic, but she EARNED IT" and that's the whole point they miss. Anna, for all that she's been through, should have been the fifth spirit, the one that connects them all. The fact that the producers had to EXPLAIN all the hidden things that indicate that Anna is the other side of the bridge, means that no one would have understood. It's like if you explain a joke, it's no longer funny. Except this explanation for why she's the other side of the bridge was a farce to begin with. Especially when Anna was the one who always wanted to be out in the world. Would've been nice if she could have had wind powers, since her mom was close with the wind spirit.

      I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT
Anna, in my opinion, deserves more recognition than Elsa, because in BOTH movies, she's the one who ends up saving the day, even if she has to sacrifice something really important to her or herself. The whole "Elsa is the fifth spirit because she represents love" is a lie, she's the fifth spirit just because she has powers, and that's it, when Anna's love is way more stronger and braver than hers (Literally, without Anna, both of them will be still isolated in the castle, and Elsa would have never learn how to control her powers or to love herself).

The only thing these movies have going for them is pretty animation. The story is a mess of layered sticky note changes, the characters and their motivations don't make sense even in context, and the Animal Sidekick That Isn't A Dog Acts Like A Dog trope in anything makes me so mad everytime I see it because the ANIMAL IS NOT A DOG AND SHOULDN'T ACT LIKE ONE. Olaf was also very annoying like 90% of the time he's on screen.

It's because they used to make fairytale film adaptations that typically had an end set up, so they could come up with ideas. Frozen is just a Snow Queen fanfiction. However, if they have to continue with characters they have made and explore their characters further, they will struggle without a previous source material.

To me one of the worst elements of this movie is the Anna and Christoph side story with the proposal. There was a deleted song that would have fit fine in this scene and made the movie much better. Them just adding the proposal at the end lazily because they thought lost in the woods is a good song baffles me. Lost in the woods adds nothing to the movie BUT the deleted song of Christoph proposing to Anna would have and shown there characters better. It also would have made for a better emotional scene considering that Anna and Chritoph have been dating for 6 years at this point so it wouldn't make sense for Anna to act so weirdly by just randomly leaving or thinking he would rather be with someone else.

I HATED frozen two, which is funny, I liked it a lot at first, but after re-watching it, I had just wished they kept the dynamic of Frozen Fever, it wasn't the BEST Disney short, but it did an AMAZING job of exploring the dynamic between the two sisters who wanted to make up for lost time. With Elsa trying too hard, and Anna just wanting to care for her. Even the Christmas special continued on their relationship even though it wasn't the focal point. Elsa did at one point apologize to Anna for shutting the door on her. So the fact that they took away all that relationship development and turned them back into exactly who they were at the beginning of Frozen 1 was a major bummer... like,,, elsa seemed super happy with her place as queen and making arendelle brighter with anna by her side. but then in frozen 2 she just throws her aside in an ice boat..
they never even deal with the fact that elsa did that, even though right after she did, anna said to olaf "you have every right to be very very mad at her"

Following the destruction of the dam, dozens of villages were wiped off the map as the wave that Elsa repelled around Arendelle washed through their settlements.
The dam held a reservoir that supplied water to Arendelle and the surrounding villages during the frozen winter, the lack of which nearly decimated the remaining settlements.
Previously tribute in the form of goods and currency was paid to Arendelle for the water (hence its wealth). With their farms and livelyhoods destroyed the remaining villages took up arms and marched on Arendelle to take back what was theirs.

Frozen is meh, but Frozen 2 itself made absolutely no sense. What was the point of Elsa to be appointed queen turns out in the end, she ends up living in the forest, and left her sister to become queen. Let’s be honest, Anna is a terrible queen and for the reason, she lacks leadership. I guess Elsa is too, but throughout the movie Anna didn’t show leadership unless you count the time she told her grandfather’s soldiers and the tribe to tear down the bridge but that was it. You are right this movie was rushed.
