yes, you can use a 3 mm hook as well. I normally use a to small hook and very high tension so that the bag gets rather stiff and holds its shape well. A bigger hook will lead to slightly looser stitches and therefore, a slightly softer result but it should hold its shape anyway. If not, you can always use plastic canvas and sew it to the inside of the bag 😊
