Hi Iffy, looking forward to that video on the 900 and Deus II. I canceled the Manticore and have a 900 on the way. At most of my sites the soil very easy to dig, so I definitely dig those good one way signals. Definitely dig some bent square nails and flat iron, but very often they are deep nonferrous or masked targets. Thanks for the information you provided.
One of your previous videos I complimented you on your video, stating, it was thorough. I appreciate the way you show the viewers your screen, and explain the (VDI) Visual Discrimination Indication numbers. At this time none of the current metal detectors have impressed me. Possibly, I had higher expectations for the Manticore with it being 2 D. The tool you use that does impress me is the Predator Model 31 (C). C/P They are made from Chrome- moly 4130 air craft Quality steel heat treated and then temper to make them super strong. Quality is the word you would use with this tool. Ante. I enjoy watching someone operate with it! Fast! Moves dirt! I watch a video that a metal detectorist has worn them out! lol R O F L He broke one! Happy New Year! Thanks for the video!
Thanks Don, i love that shovel. Have had it since 2017. Surprised someone broke one. Did they send him a new one? I heard they have great customer service.
@@IffySignals Yes! They did send him another one. It is surprising any would break the hand digger. It is possibly the best substitute for a shovel. With the requisites changing allowing restrictions in metal detectors in public areas to preserve the hobby 'no one' should take anything but a hand digger to a public property.. It would be a bitter pill to swallow being fined heavily for playing in the dirt to retrieve a nail, can slaw, etc. lol. R O F L.
Thanks for doing this. To me, this is the true way to test 2 machines. This is awesome. They appear to be close so far. Both machines are great I think. My dad just bought the Deus 2. I thinking about the Manticore. This way we have both.
Great video, I have really been enjoying the stuff you have been putting out on the Manticore. It seems like the more people starting to use and compare the Manticore to the D2 that it seems like they are pretty equal in the iron. Both seem to be great machines but I really like the Manticore over the Deus 2 just because the ease of setting up the machine and I also like the 2d screen.
Both act very similar. I use multi tone on the D2 and some people like to use Pitch for more tonal info around Iron. I am going to have to try it out more. My brain is not clicking with pitch at the moment but will give it more time.
The object you found pretty close to the beginning of the video that look like an elongated thimble is called a drag I believe. It Mounted on a piece of old farm equipment and it was drug along the ground it purpose was as a wear bar to protect the wood from wearing out. You can see it's worn on that one side from dragging along the ground.
Love watching these videos. The knowledge you provide is really going to help when I actually get my manticore. It was supposed to ship between today and Jan 31st but now I received an email saying that it’s going to ship between feb 1st-28th 😢.
Thanks for the comparison. I used this program based off of the Dive program in Sandy soil. Disc 6.8, Salt 8, Iron 5, React 2, Audio 3, B caps 2, Silencer 0, 3 tone, PWM. Found 2 🦬 nickels. Had no problem hearing scratchy iron, But still dug some nails.
Hi iffy. Thanks for all the great videos and hard work your doing comparing these two machines. It’s not easy deciding which one I should purchase. I wish I could buy both 😄
Thanks WS. Appreciate it. Tough choices right now. Call a dealer. The 900/Manticore might not be as big of a gap as you think. Email me if you need one who can help.
Thank Iffy for making these comparison videos with no BS or opinions. On the Manticore have you experimented with the different audio themes like Depth and Prospecting with ferrous tone ON which use a signal strength VCO type audio for relic hunting?
Another good video , l have the d2 (small d) have the manicore on order but after watching you and Cal, not sure I can justify that amount of money for that small a benefit think I will just order the 9 inch coil for the d2 (small d) I only have the 11 inch . I might cancel the manicore from Andy, that would put your friend who just ordered 1 closer thanks Chuck
Like your Video's in comparing the Metal Detectors. As You know I am Clad and Jewelry Kinda guy. But these relic videos are great to watch. cause there is always places thar a coin or other things that are good mixed in with iron. Happy New Year
iffy , I would like to see large U.S silver (dollar / half dollar) on edge with the Manticore. I hunt alot of plowed fields and many of the coins are on edge. Thanks
I’m still on cloud 9 with my Legend. Can’t wait to try out the new coils that just been released plus the soon to come update. The Legend is a great machine, but could you justify buying the Nox 900 or the Manticore. Money is a big factor with me and it would be my last machine for several years. Or should I keep on swinging the Legend? I’ve had it since early fall and have found 15 silvers with it since. Including 2 Walking Liberty HD & my first Seated Quarter. 1877. I’ve got the video of me finding it if you ever want to see it let me know.
Instead of just turning on the target use the pinpoint ID to determine the target. If it is the same or higher as the swinging numbers it is good target, if it is much lower than swinging number it is unlikely a good target. It worked with Equinox 800 and it should be similar with 900 and Manticore.
I haven’t seen any Nox 700 vrs 900 videos. Will you be doing any of those? I think the nox 700 is $699, but with the Nox 900 you get the extra 6” coil.
Best way to test in my opinion. That’s why I like hunting with buddies that have different machines. I still think the D2 edges it out the manti so far.
I think I agree the deus 2 is better hunting in the woods and fields from the videos I have been watching But I don’t think he going to say which one he think is better. You can figure out why They will say each one has its strong points
Iffy what’s the best place to place an order for this machine, I usually buy my stuff from bigboys hobbies , Bart in Oklahoma, I mean February earliest possibility.

Not good results for expensive machines, price isn’t justified by these results , just saying iron shouldn’t be sounding non ferrous no way, nails can be tricky, but these companies fix this with updates it’s important don’t you think.
Would be great if they did. But if they did what would be the trade off? Would fixing something like this impact something else like separation? Im not sure.

@@IffySignals thanks buddy !
Thanks for the video! Anyone you recommend for getting a manticore?
Andy at We Dig Metal Detectors. Give him a call or email for a price. Thanks
Does the Deus 2 normally have a much cleaner/louder signal?
Both are nice and loud depending on where you have the volume set on the external speaker or headphones.
How accurate is the depth indicator?
Its accurate on coin sized objects. Most machines vary depending on the size of the target. The Manticore does that same.
Instead of just turning on the target use the pinpoint ID to determine the target. If it is the same or higher as the swinging numbers it is good target, if it is much lower than swinging number it is unlikely a good target.
