My grandmother passed away a few weeks ago and I miss her dearly. Every saturday since I was a child she would call me and my brothers at 6pm. Every Saturday. She would never forget to call. Looking back I took it for granted because now, that hour between 6 and 7 on a Saturday that is no longer filled with her voice feels pointless. I heard this song the first time today and absolutely sobbed. Bless the telephone for letting me gain so much more time talking to my granny over the years. I'm so very lucky to have experienced a love like the one she gave me.
Aww, that's a really touching story. I'm sorry that you lost such an important person in your life and I'm in awe that you are able to dress it in such poetic words. Honestly, this comment made me tear up! Wishing you all the best :)
My Nana passed 6 years ago, but reading your comment brought back both her love and my grief over losing her like it was just weeks ago. It is a sort of beautiful pain, only made possible by the deep and unending love we shared through the years. I’m sorry you are now experiencing the loss of your grandmother. The loss you feel is only as big as the love you shared, which is both painful and magical. I wish you so much peace and a reliving of your many wonderful memories together as you travel along your grief journey
Sent here by little Joel, by way of RJD2. 🤯 I had no idea the RJD2 song was a cover with a different name... It being written by a black man is the least suprising revelation. I wonder why I never heard the original? 🤷♂️
For such a short and simple song it's genuinely so beautiful. So many relationships are just that, pure admiration for someone else that you're thankful for even small, everyday things that most people may not even acknowledge. I can't fathom why anyone would be against love like this, I hope everyone can be lucky enough to experience something this beautiful.
It's nice to hear your voice again I've waited all day long Even wrote a song for you It's strange, the way you make me feel With just a word or two I'd like to do the same for you It's nice to hear you say "hello" And "how are things with you? I love you" But very soon it's time to go An office job to do While I'm here writing songs for you Strange How a phone call can change your day Take you away Away From the feeling of being alone Bless the telephone It's nice, the way you say my name Not very fast or slow, just soft and low The same as when you tell me how you feel I feel the same way, too I'm very much in love with you I'm very much in love with you
Labi is an incredible poet, singer, and musical artist. His lyrics and voice blend so simply, yet are so full of power. His albums are fascinating and timeless. I really love how minimal musically much of his work is, because it allows his voice to be. His song "Saved" really showcases this, being a cappella - that kind of voice just commands you to listen and feel completely.
This man is so remarkably talented! I've only recently "discovered" him--somehow, living in the U.S., I wasn't aware of him. And now I can't stop listening to his music!
I lost my father a few weeks ago... I used to talk with him about the weather, how things are going on, how things were going on his ranch, even though i didn't liked that stuff, but, you know, when you are 4 countries away from your father you only want to hear his voice, to see him, to be with him i wanted to hug him one last time but all i got was hearing him snoring from a call and saying him goodbye, I'll remember the times that we spent together, he was not a good man nor father but he thought me about what is right and what is wrong, how you should live your life and to enjoy those little moments, I'll miss his almost obligated walks on his ranch that in the end they turned to be a happy and calm thing to do, i wish i could be with him on his last moments, i wish that he sends me a message again on the morning just asking "como estas hijo lindo".
Que triste... independientemente de las situaciones es lindo recordar los buenos momentos con los que alguna vez formaron parte de nuestra vida, pero personas como tu padre nunca morirán, pues siempre estará en tu corazón.
Absolutely INCREDIBLE! I discovered his music a few weeks ago the movie The hold Downs and have been blown away since. What an amazing and GENIUS of an artist!!
This reminds me of my dad. Don’t worry, he’s still here with us. Every time I hear it I have to call him. So long. I’m about to bless this man’s whole day.

I first heard this song in 1971 (I'm 75 now) and still love it - yes, it is a poem. Wish there were more of them : simple and so true about a love relationship

This sounds like a true loves 1st kiss. Sweet and caring but not possessive.
Our wedding song. Brings tears to my eyes.

And no one can take it away
Beautiful choice, congratulations!
