A very informative documentary of water use and management from Indigenous perspectives. Researchers placed Indigenous people at the centre of the project. Excellent research, well done CSIRO.
To Aboriginal water values and management .in Northern Australia - CSIRO Dear Sir, Thankyou for the info on aboriginal water values and management.. The concerns are also in the food networks prevalent among the collectives living in the locations of the tropics and the subtropical of Australia. The collectives of this location seem to live the seasons in the months of the calendar year with varied sources of food and practices relevant to the collection and preparation of food for consumption. The diets and consumption of food in the age groups seem to be a question. Wish you all the best in your endeavours for the future. Greetings to all at the CSIRO and the collectives participating to disseminate info. Kalaranji Maheswaran ✍🌷💧🌏🐅
Hi there. All of the artwork showcased in the video is from artists that reside at Nauiyu Nambiyu on the Daly River where much of this video was filmed. You can contact Merrepen Art Centre if you are interested in purchasing similar artworks.
It would be beneficial for the wider public if the CSIRO could link the follow up data specifically related to this presentation 20 years on. I am of the belief that aside from the obviously ignorant and bored children (who are indicating their disdain for such critical information as per the comments below) 99% of people would be horrified that the water in this region is now being used as not only an economic weapon against the regional tribes, but also as a method of controlling how and where these indigenous people maintain their dietary needs. Water is the source of life in this country, without it there is no future for the life that it sustains, yet it is evident that the CSIRO per its mandate to provide the most accurate scientific research and recommendations has been muzzled by the cretinous legislators it serves. Shame CSIRO, shame.
Hi Mick, thank you for your interest. Since this film (and well before) we continue to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to create Indigenous-driven science solutions that support sustainable futures for Indigenous peoples, cultures and Country. Many groups lead this research work, such as the recent Our Knowledge, Our Way in caring for Country: Indigenous-led approaches to strengthening and sharing our knowledge for land and sea management: www.csiro.au/en/research/indigenous-science/indigenous-knowledge/our-knowledge-our-way. You can see other examples of Indigenous-driven science solutions, including water management, here: www.csiro.au/en/research/indigenous-science.

9 years on and NLC still doing very little to advocate for Indigenous groups. Western society busting the barriers set out in stone many years ago, how about give the land back without attaching strings to pull it back, maybe then something will change.

Apart from their art, control over the land, unique culture, full-fledged languages and many other factors defining human society? Stop being racist and learn to be a good person.
