Totally not the most accessible ZZ Top song dude, check out the heyday singles; Gimme all your lovin', Legs, Sharp dressed man, Rough Boy... you'll prefer those I reckon.
Exactly. I love ZZ top, but not everyone will. Thanks for giving an HONEST opinion. I gave you a thumbs up for your opinion and for the fact you actually gave it a proper review.
Ripping through the gears on a mountain road with either a car or a motorcycle with ZZ Top blasting in your ears is a pure adrenaline rush. They are the epitome of a power trio in the vein of Texas Blues.
This band is iconic. All bands aren’t for everyone. It’s kinda refreshing to hear someone say they didn’t like a song instead of catering to the masses. I respect your opinion but ZZ was a trend setting band. One of a kind.
Love the honesty! PLEASE don’t try to please everyone all the time, genuine reactions are the bomb. You’re very respectful and please ignore the haters. This real reaction made me have new respect. Thank you. That being said ZZtop is a particular sound and although very talented, not for everyone. Keep on doing what you do! ♡
One reason I watch your reactions is because of your authenticity. It's a reaction channel for gosh sakes. So I for one appreciate your honesty. Rock On Brother!!!
One of the most iconic Blues riffs ever, imo! The sound is still so relevant! One of America's most consistent and witty rock bands across the 1970s and 80s. RIP Dusty Hill!
As an old guy that grew up with this band and have seen them several times, i cant even fathom someone who has never heard of them or didnt like them. Thats said, how boring would it be if we all liked the same things. Because of your honesty and take on this song, you got another subscriber in me. Thanks.
I love that you’re being honest. It shows integrity. If anyone gets mad, they don’t understand the channel. You gave your true opinion, and I congratulate you for it. Honestly, you might have liked Sharp Dressed Man better as an introduction to ZZ Top. Who knows, maybe just not your thing, and that’s ok. Keep being real, bro!! Your honest opinion will earn respect from true fans of this channel. You definitely have my respect!! I love ZZ Top, and I am not offended. Still gonna look forward to watching your videos tomorrow!!
This. I haven't seen every one of his videos, but I've seen a lot and all the ones I have watched he's been positive on the songs to point where I was wondering if his reactions are genuine. It's nice to see that he is being real.
There was a girl that I took to several concerts that summer, one of them was zztop. They have never been one of my favorites but that was one hell of a show. Forty five years later and we still like to listen to music together. Keep giving us your real reactions.
i heard "La Grange", loved it instantly, but didn't know the title. so i went to the record store, and asked the guy: "hm, i'm looking for this ZZ Top song, i don't know the title, may be if i could..." - at which point he handed me a ZZ Top album, pointed to a track in the tracklist, and said: "it's that one. everybody wants that one." of course, he was right. 🙂
We still have one record store in my area like that, privately owned and operated since the 60s, with staff who know more than the top 5 pop songs. It's such a rarity, I swear most customers (myself included) make a pilgrimage there at least once a month just to keep them in business. Such a cool place. I'm not normally one for nostalgia, but being able to go to a place and talk about music, pick up flyers for new bands, meet people who are knowledgeable about the music, people who can actually play, an owner who looks the other way (or joins in) when someone sparks up a joint in the store, lol... That's something we need to hang on to.
I appreciate your honesty. I lived through the music of this time (I’m 55 years old ) and not every band was something that I liked. Honestly, there were bands I didn’t like at the time, but I grew to love as an adult. And there’s bands that I loved as a kid that I would not listen to now. I love the fact that you are being yourself and being honest. It’s refreshing!
ZZ Top are the best band to ever come out of Texas. Exceptional blues players, fused with rock, and all roasted for decades in the desert. Simply, wonderfully unique.
The beard on him would have defeated the purpose (besides he may not have been able to grow a healthy one like Billy's or the other one - sorry, don't know their names).
Loving your reactions. Keep them coming. I'm a 72 year old rock fan from Coventry. Haven't got a clue what Hip hop is but i know what i like and that's your reactions to music like this. Ignore the haters. They are pointless.
This song is about a whore house in Texas called the Chicken Ranch. They made a movie about it called The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas starring Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds.
Yeah man, Im older, and frankly love your honesty. Thats why I watch you. Someone asked you to listen to the song and you did, didnt click. Glad you said so. ZZ top is an "acquired" taste, and what you listened to was pure americana. No apology needed, keep being you, homie. I know I am not alone when I say I will always watch your vids, and appreciate your genuine take.
No worries, young man! You are bravely giving all music genres a try and keeping your mind open. That is HUGE and deserving of respect. Frankly, those reactors who love everything make me suspicious. Every human has individual tastes in art, that is what sets us apart. The key is listening, appreciating the talent involved, and giving respect where it is due. ZZ Top is one of the best bands ever, so they earn your acknowledgement of this even if not your favorite. I would encourage not to give up on them, however, as they have loads of hits.Carry on!
To be fair this song does not have their standard vocal style. Think about legs, tush etc.. they didn't sing in the same style. Now if there are others where he sings like this I don't know. I grew up with Zz but mostly their radio play.
Little Old Band from Texas, mate!!! These dudes are OG bluesmen all the way back to the 70s! Start with "Just Got Paid", "Cheap Sunglasses" or "Waiting on the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago" LETS GO!!!!
I met Billy and Dusty in the Hard Rock in Houston years ago. I was sitting at a table with a couple of friends and grew impatient when we weren't greeted within a few minutes, so I went to the bar to get a pitcher of beer and while I was waiting I looked around and they were sitting right next to me! Big old beards hanging down over big old beer bellies! I didn't ask for autographs or anything, just said hi, shook their hands, told them how much I loved their music, talked for a minute, then got my beer and went back to the table. Cool dudes, just hanging out!
They probably appreciated you didn't hound them for an autograph; as you said beard hanging over the beer bellies - just a couple of guys with a whole lotta talent.
ZZ Top is a Blues/Southern Rock Jam band, started in 1969 in Texas and quickly became the music played by bikers and outlaws - This song is about a famous Brothel in Texas - and until the bassist Dusty Hill died 2 yrs ago, it has always been the same 3 guys, try songs like - I'm Nationwide - sharp dressed man - Tube Snake Boogie - My Heads in Mississippi, - the focus For Billy - Dusty and Frank has always been "the Music" full sound three piece band - they fall in a similar category as Lynyrd Skynyrd - 38 Special - Blackfoot - Bad Company and many other Southern Rock bands
Just keep doing what you’re doing and be Honest thats all we ask for. You’re doing a great job Youngblood!!!! We all love your honesty. Rock on mate!!!
I'm not really a ZZ Top fan, but this song is killer. The vocals are so cool, like a guy talking to you from the next stool over at the bar about a famous brothel. Give it more listens. Every rock fan I know LOVES this song!
Hell, I was 12 the first time I went to Billy Bob's. Ordered my own own vodka collins and the bartenders didn't blink, because my dad was there. He let me drink all I wanted. 😄
I won tickets off the radio for the Afterburner Tour. Was excited for a week then I got the notice that the Drill dates for my National Guard unit had been moved to the same weekend as the concert. Was one of the few overnight drills at a different location a few hours away. Had to sell the tickets to a friend. He had a great time and thanked me profusely.
I appreciate your honest reaction. You still commented on what aspects that you did enjoy and respect. No one likes every song, let alone as a playlist level song.
Dude great reaction, please continue to be real. I could never be a reactor because my tastes are all about crunch and I’d never listen to something wimpy or dull.
Great to see you diving deeper into the "bands you never heard of"!!! Keep that going with your reactions! Do so by reacting to White Stripes - Icky Thump. This 2 piece band (bro & Sis) will knock your socks off!! 👍
It's cool if you don't like a song man, most people appreciate the honesty. It's way better than faking a reaction to pretend like you like it, which a lot of channels do. Keep up the good reactions man
Appreciate your honesty. My husband isn't a big fan, but I've seen them three times in three different decades and I managed to drag him to two of them. He lived. This band fills arenas to this day. Please react to a few more...they have different sounds. They're legends. Texas cool. 😎
Don’t sweat it man. I grew up with all of this and love all Classic Rock Bands but while I love them all, but they all have tunes that don’t do it for me either and just go with whatever gets your ears perked up and head shaking that’s music. What else I found is, as years went on and I still listen to many bands and their catalog, sometimes the ones I didn’t like in the past kinda bring those memories back but I kinda found myself head banging a bit lol.
Totally classic. I have seen these guys in concert more times than I can count. They are amazing. I have seen them twice since Dusty passed. Still iconic!
You don't have to apologize for what you like, my man. For one more ZZTop, try "Jesus Just Left Chicago" - bluesy and groovy. If they aren't for you, then they're not, and that's all good. After their third album they changed their songwriting style as well, so "Sharp Dressed Man" and other later songs change direction a little bit for them.
Been listening to ZZ Top since the mid-1970's, seen them live three times, and have always liked what I heard. The guy in the middle of the photo is Guitarist Billy Gibbons, Drummer Frank Beard is on the left and Bassist David "Dusty" Hill (RIP) on the right. Their old stuff is their best stuff, IMO, but even their newer stuff is pretty good. "Mexican Blackbird", "Heard It On The X", "Waiting For The Bus>Jesus Just Left Chicago", "Mellow Down Easy".
always got a kick out of the fact that the only guy in the band actually NAMED Beard (drummer) is the only one without a beard! ZZ Top's beards are as legendary as their music.
The vocals are what they are, authentic and rough. It's their guitar talents is what shines. Music was more authentic back then. We didn't expect everyone to conform to fit in a box.
It's one of those song when you hear it now for the first time in 2024 you can feel: well, not bad, but not that exceptionnal, seems to have heard something like that in hundreds of songs. BUT you have to imagine that this riff is one of the most iconic in blues rock history, this trio (well duet now RIP Dusty) is a inspiration for many musicians, and are really respected for their music and known for their iconic look. Fun fact: two guys with the very long beard, and the drummer who is named Frank Beard (but has no beard 😄).
This is what I like most about your channel. You don’t have to like every song that you hear. But you were being honest when you said you respected the musicianship. Stay true!
Thank you for your honest opinion Molly. That's the truth, nothing but the truth and only the truth. BUT..... Keep them around and for the next time try Tush or Sharped Dress Men. Keep being real and keep rockin. Peace
ZZ Top was formed in Texas around 1970 after Billy Gibbons (guitar & vocals) had toured w/ the Jimi Hendrix Experience w/ his previous band in 1968... Jimi Hendrix himself was impressed w/ the teenager's skills on slide guitar. The trio was completed w/ the addition of Frank Beard (drums) and Dusty Hill (bass & vocals) and they debuted their 1st album in 1971. ZZ Top were a blues-based boogie rock band and they toured relentlessly in the 70's and scored a radio hit 'La Grange' in 1973 and were soon scoring more radio hits ( 'Tush' ... "I'm bad, I'm nationwide"... 'Blue jean blues' ) and gold records by 1975. However, w/ success came excess and drummer Frank Beard's drug abuse finally caught up w/ him... As Beard went to rehab, Gibbons & Hill went on vacation. 2 years had passed by 1979 when Frank Beard announced that he was ready to work again... Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill emerged sporting matching long beards (from not shaving for 2 years 😂) and when they rehearsed, they looked so striking that they decided to keep the look as they released the album 'Deguello' in '79 and began touring again... It was ironic that Frank Beard was the only member w/ no beard and that became the calling card for ZZ Top's career. The 80's were rapidly changing the music business and MTV was a major promotion outlet... ZZ Top also became fans of the new electronic & synth pop music from the UK (Depeche Mode, New Order...) and decided to incorporate that sound into their 1983 album 'Eliminator'... It was also promoted by cutting edge music videos and the record was a huge hit, selling over 10 million copies in the US alone and becoming an international hit as well w/ songs like "Sharp dressed man" ... 'Legs' ... "Gimme all your lovin' " ZZ Top enjoyed more success w/ the albums 'Afterburner' (1985) and 'Recycler' (1990) as they toured into the 90's... Their 1992 'Greatest hits' CD sold 3 million copies in the US alone. More hits came like - 'Sleeping bag'... "My head's in Mississippi" ... 'Rough boy' ... 'Velcro fly'... 'Planet of women'... However, the 90's proved ill-fated for ZZ Top's record sales as subsequent albums failed to be heavily promoted and sold disappointingly... After the 2003 album 'Mescalero'... ZZ Top opted not to make new records and focus instead on touring as a 'legacy' band on their vast catalog of music. They were inspired to record their last album 'La futura' in 2012 after parting ways w/ longtime producer/ manager Bill Ham. In 2021, Dusty Hill passed away at age 72... ZZ Top has continued to tour without him.
I respect your honesty. I have watched your other ZZ Top reactions. Some other ZZ Top song you should check out. - "Cheap Sunglasses", "Heard It On The X", "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers", "Love Thing", "I'm Bad I'm Nation Wide", "I Thank You".
ZZ Top was all about the vibe, not the vocals. They sort of doubled down on their thing and made it work in the time of Beatles and Stones. This tasty blues riff was pretty much lifted from Howlin Wolf or Muddy Waters, OG Black musicians from the 50s who truly invented rock & roll.
Real fans of your channel will appreciate your honesty! I love this song and band. I bet there’s music i love that you would love, or dislike and vice versa. Music is subjective; you like what moves you

All good, but I do say give a different song a shot. The vocals on La Grange are not the standard vocals
No need for apologies. There are other ZZ songs I do think you’d like though. And, who knows, La Grange may still grow on you. 🤷🏻♂️
I recommend Tush for the next go at ZZ.
No apologies needed. Your honest take on music is why we keep watching!!! Rock on, bro!
Totally not the most accessible ZZ Top song dude, check out the heyday singles; Gimme all your lovin', Legs, Sharp dressed man, Rough Boy... you'll prefer those I reckon.

To many reactors out there kissin' ass. Call it as you see it kid.
Exactly. I love ZZ top, but not everyone will. Thanks for giving an HONEST opinion. I gave you a thumbs up for your opinion and for the fact you actually gave it a proper review.
You did not know Dire Straits and now ZZTop? What do you know? How about the Beatles or Elvis?
Knowing he's being honest makes the glowing ones (like Seger) hit all the harder.
Ripping through the gears on a mountain road with either a car or a motorcycle with ZZ Top blasting in your ears is a pure adrenaline rush. They are the epitome of a power trio in the vein of Texas Blues.
Masters of the single entendre ^_^
This band is iconic. All bands aren’t for everyone. It’s kinda refreshing to hear someone say they didn’t like a song instead of catering to the masses.
I respect your opinion but ZZ was a trend setting band. One of a kind.

Fun fact: ZZ Top guitarist/vocalist, Billy Gibbons, was one of Jimi Hendrix’s favorite guitar players.
Billy's band at the time opened for Jimi across the USA they were close friends.
Sucks they never got together and made an album, that would have been mind blowing!
Another fun fact, Billy taught Jimi how to play slide guitar!
@@blakephelps7619 another fun fact, both Hendrix and Gibbons were fans of "Chicago's" Terry Kath. They all toured together in the late 60's
Cool, didn’t know that.

ZZ Top are Rock ROYALTY. They were inducted in the hall of fame 20 years ago.
They are not for everyone. What always impressed me was the fact that one guitar, one bass and one set of drums can bring all that sound!
Raw talent!
This is Texas Rock, Funk n Blues!!!

Houston. My aunt sat in a bar with Dusty Hill and shot the shit with him for a couple of hours.
Keep going down that ZZ Top rabbit hole and you'll start to get it. Truly a unique band. Nobody else ever sounded like them.

Hear! Hear!

ZZ Top ain't for everybody. But they are super cool dudes. 😎 RIP Dusty. ❤
Gotta love old ZZ Top. The first couple albums are so smooth and grimy.
Just badass af. Pure and raw. The other stuff is ok. But their early music is far superior. Where I started loving the blues. They're the reason.
If grits were music.
Seen them, I don't know how many times. Love them!
Not two descriptive words that would usually go together, but works for these guys!
There isn't a category for these legends of American rock music. But they are something special
'Tres Hombres' NEVER leaves my playlist.
When I listen to ZZ TOP so do my neibors....and whatever car is next to me at the stoplight 😂😂
Try “Waiting on the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago” and “Tush”
🔥🔥
YES!!! 👍😎
This is one of my All Time favorites and I appreciate your honest opinion. You were respectful. Don't give up on ZZ Top.
50 year old me typing angrily 😠 then back spacing and just saying thanks for playing it

Good trivia question bro

Eliminator was one of the first records I bought myself growing up. Loved these guys my whole life🤘
I really like it when you're honest and don't say you like absolutely anything like a lot of reviewers do
Their music videos on MTV were so popular because they had a great sense of humor. They were just pure rock and roll coolness.
Furry, spinning guitars!!
And everyone in the band taste in automobiles was impeccable.
Billy Gibbons Cadzilla ❤ The Elemonater coupe hell yeah !

Thank you for the super chat!
@@MollyBoyTV You are very welcome. I enjoy your reactions.
This is our sacred good ole southern rock we grew up with.
This song is always a dangerous song for me when I’m driving and it comes on the radio….always start grooving and zooming’!
Another power trio, classic southern rock in the early 70's great driving music...
try "Gimme all Your Lovin" and "Cheap Sunglasses" "Tush" play them loud - it will get into your soul
Appreciating your honesty ♥️
It's cool if you don't like a song man, most people appreciate the honesty. It's way better than faking a reaction to pretend like you like it, which a lot of channels do. Keep up the good reactions man
Country Rock/Blues! They are Awesome! Big Texas Band since 1969
Appreciate your honesty. My husband isn't a big fan, but I've seen them three times in three different decades and I managed to drag him to two of them. He lived. This band fills arenas to this day. Please react to a few more...they have different sounds. They're legends. Texas cool. 😎
I finally seen them live last year ,unfortunately after the passing of Dusty hill. They were amazing. R.I.P Dusty
Thanks for giving it a listen
Don’t sweat it man. I grew up with all of this and love all Classic Rock Bands but while I love them all, but they all have tunes that don’t do it for me either and just go with whatever gets your ears perked up and head shaking that’s music. What else I found is, as years went on and I still listen to many bands and their catalog, sometimes the ones I didn’t like in the past kinda bring those memories back but I kinda found myself head banging a bit lol.
I have seen them live 3 times. They were great! Always put on a great show.
The finish solo is insane !!!! Great job southern dudes !!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bro, you gotta check out 'cheap sunglasses'! 🔥
'Waitin' for the Bus' right into 'Jesus Just Left Chicago' is one of the best transitions you will ever hear. :)
They best duo of songs your ears can be blessed by of all time
Been listening to ZZ Top since the mid-1970's, seen them live three times, and have always liked what I heard.
OMG! Another great band from the Great State of Texas baby!! 😍
💪🏽😎
Your being honest and we appreciate this. You have to look into their catalog. Great music. Rock on 70s
always got a kick out of the fact that the only guy in the band actually NAMED Beard (drummer) is the only one without a beard! ZZ Top's beards are as legendary as their music.
The vocals are what they are, authentic and rough. It's their guitar talents is what shines. Music was more authentic back then. We didn't expect everyone to conform to fit in a box.
Iconic guitar riff. Vocals are random af, but always put a smile on my face.
Time for some COLD CHISEL!!! Maaaate
Woow, unexpected, they are legends! I do love their song "I Gotsta Get Paid"
Good tune! Based on "25 Lighters" by DJ DMD, a hip hop artist from Houston.
Peace
I just saw them in El paso Texas 2 weeks ago! they still kick serious ass! ZZ Top are living legends....
Texas rock, Pantera was influenced by. Let's go!
DallasTx bby 💪🏽😎
'Legs' ... "Gimme all your lovin' "
ZZ Top enjoyed more success w/ the albums 'Afterburner' (1985) and 'Recycler' (1990) as they toured into the 90's...
The Lil’ ‘ol Band from Texas. They have several in their catalog I think you’d like.
So glad you’re hitting ZZTOP!! Lots of great songs
Have Mercy!
I loooove that line there in the music 😉😁🤘
Been waitin on the bus all day!!
I respect your honesty. I have watched your other ZZ Top reactions. Some other ZZ Top song you should check out. - "Cheap Sunglasses", "Heard It On The X", "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers",
"Love Thing", "I'm Bad I'm Nation Wide", "I Thank You".
You probably would enjoy “Legs” by ZZ Top a lot better
Keep on being honest! That's what I like about your reactions. You're so right about different tastes in music...so now we know what not to send!
Keep your opinions coming Bro! I appreciate your honesty. It makes for good reactions. Peace Out, PJ
This song is about a brothel on the outskirts of Lagrange texas
If he was in a bar... drinking... playing pool... and this came on... he'd love it 💪🏽😎
So in the future when you are loving a song and saying really positive things - I'll know it's genuine.
Nice. Keep up the good work.
Real fans of your channel will appreciate your honesty! I love this song and band. I bet there’s music i love that you would love, or dislike and vice versa. Music is subjective; you like what moves you
