I have a 7in concrete footer in my garage that my walls sit on, so what looks like a 2-3in from floor like in your home isn't going to work, but I can't tell if the stringers can be mounted in different heights?

  • @Bonio84
    @Bonio84 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How are the 2 x main vertical bars sat in relation to the floor? Surely they have to sit deep enough to not move when taking weight, but also not deep enough so that you can fold them away? Especially on softer rubber flooring?? Assume when unfolded out there is some give in the back mechanics to enable it to drop slightly when taking weight?

    • @EdmonJiddou
      @EdmonJiddou  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly, there’s a hard plastic foot cap that allows it to slide decently along with slight slack in the joint to allow it to take weight.

  • @Awoit
    @Awoit 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So when you fold it in and back out again, are you dragging the legs against your floor? I'd want the unit flush/plum but if you're able to pull it out then wouldn't the front slough, causing weight added to eventually be pulling/tugging at the bolts attached to the wall? **Sorry if you mentioned this I don't have audio

    • @EdmonJiddou
      @EdmonJiddou  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, so the bottom of the towers have a hard plastic foot that acts similar to furniture sliders, it supports a share of the weight so the wall isn't being asked to support 100%.

    When you have it folded flat against the wall, how much space is between the post and the wall? I’ve got a lip on one of my garage walls where the foundation sticks out at the bottom. Home Depot sells them in all kinds of sizes, they come with stud anchors and can hold a good amount of weight. The orange rubber grip on them is the same one rogue uses. Around $7 a piece.

    Thanks for the video bro. Had a quick question. So I want to install one of these in my garage but my the bottom half of my garage is cement and the top half is wood. Does this install into cement ?
    Also the bottom part of my wall is slightly uneven like a half inch. (The bottom part of the wall sticks out a half inch) Would I still be able to install this rack?

    • @EdmonJiddou
      @EdmonJiddou  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      1) yes you would need concrete anchors for the bottom stringer.
      2) you should be just fine, might need to shim the top stringer to accommodate the difference. I would have to see what you mean but I don’t think it would be a problem.

      Hi Jeff,
      I just received my rack and prepping for install. My garage's bottom has concrete footing at the bottom of the wall and is about 8" up from grade. What did you end up doing, mounting to the concrete? Do you have any words of wisdom from your install?
      I plan to mount a 2x12 ledge board then attach my horizontal stringers to them for some extra strength and weight distribution on the studs. I had a thought today as I was prepping... 'can't I just mount the bottom stringer higher up and avoid the concrete altogether.' Mainly because I don't have a hammer drill and 3/4 concrete bit.
      Thanks,

    Hey great video, I purchased the same product and am getting ready to set it up myself. I do have a question, when the posts are folded out into the open position do the feet of the posts rest on the ground? If they do rest on the ground, do they drag when you open the posts up?

      I have been wondering the same thing. Have had mine sitting on the floor of the garage of 2 weeks now and finally trying to get it going, but I am concerned about this also. Another video I watched said the bottom bracket needs to be 4 inches from the floor (not the string itself, but the actual bracket part).

    Would you recommend assembling the whole rack and placing it against the wall so you know exactly where the stringers should be placed or do you think the process you followed by installing the stringers first then the rest of the rack was the most efficient?

    • @EdmonJiddou

    • @EdmonJiddou

      I do not have any knowledge on the structural ability of steel studs, but I assume if they are strong enough to hold up a roof, they are strong enough for this rig.

    Great setup, very clean! Do you think there is enough depth for performing kipping pull ups and toes to bar? I know Rogue recommends 41.5” for these movements but I’m still contemplating if 21.5” would be sufficient so I can save some space.

    • @EdmonJiddou

Also, did you ever follow-through with the plastic / rubber grommets to reduce the metal-on-metal clanging noise? Hey and thanks for the comments,
      1) the wall hangers are just from Home Depot, (orange hangers) and I think are for tools and bikes etc..they work great.
      2) I ended up wrapping the bolts with heavy duty Teflon tape so they had tighter tolerance, it definitely cut down on slack and the noise about 50%.

I have a baseboard and an outlet and cable Jack. There isn't enough space between them. If I was to go above the outlet and Jack they top out at 15 inches. Is that too high up the wall to start the bottom of the lower stringer? My only other option is to move the outlet and Jack or just cover it with the stringer. Thanks for your advice!
