There's a fine line between the hater and someone with common sense. $170,000.00 for car manufactured by Stellantis when it's all said and done can be viewed as a fool's errand or can be worshipped. It gets murkier when the 170 engine can be purchased for $30,000 from Direct Connection and dropped into anything that can accommodate it.

Hey man, don't worry about the haters. You are a grown ass man who makes his own decisions who cares what these people think. I've been watching you forever and you are a smart guy who makes good decisions and doesn't make these decisions without thinking it through or positions himself to be able to make these moves. I'm glad I found your channel, it helped me position myself to buy my current challenger using Navy Federal. I appreciate all of your content and the amazing videos you do. I can't wait to see what you do with your demon 170 its going to be sickk.👊👊👊

Just watched your vid - I am 51 years old doing well as a sungle man, and I have a TRX truck, a Hellcat , and great properties- I mention that only because those things did no come easy, and watching you share things that are personal like financial decisions is commendable.
I hope the younger folks who watch this particular vehicle get motivated so when they are in their 50's, they will have the things they want...........cheers my man!!

I'm happy for you and especially Racer X for all the trouble he went through in the past on his cars he was trying to get. You didn't have to but thank you for sharing something so personal. I didn't get the 170 but I feel even better about buying my widebody Redeye Charger. And WOW the haters I got after less than a week of purchase. I'm also 53 and been at my job for 35 years. Its served me very well and its something I enjoy doing. Bottom line is you inspired me, not that I wasn't going to anyway, to enjoy the examples of my hard work and making sure it simply made sense financially. Never have I ever tried to keep up with the "Jones". Just trying to go as far as I can go. So again, Thank you for sharing. You're a huge inspiration and again congratulations on your Demon 170.

Loved your video. Truly refreshing. We bought a new '21 pitch black Challenger T/A 6.4. We finally got the point to afford this luxury. I am very happy that your in a position to acquire your vehicles. You worked hard, you had a plan. We can only afford our payment because it sold at sticker. Our dealer only sells at sticker. Excellent trade in $$$ and the kicker we got 0, Zero % interest! Everything was aligned! I love the 170 you possess! I trust people like you and RacerX. My Challenger was partly a retirement gift. Since the new Challengers came out we looked at them yearly. We love the car and creature comforts and it's power. Lastly, no, I agree you don't look 60! Keep up your great content!

Brad your hilarious intro killed me, seeing you talking to your cars like I do. I appreciate your upfrontness and openness with all the figures and terms. I don't think anyone else would have been. Totally happy for you and can't wait to see your content with your Demon. The only thing that worries me for you is that you said State Farm insurance, I only bring that up because of being Totally screwed over by them on a Dodge pickup that was only 8 months old when it was stolen and totaled and they didn't even give me enough to pay it off. So I was left with owing 6000$ on the truck. When questioned about why the difference they said they were only paying what bluebook value was, and if I wanted to be covered on the total of the loan I should have purchased GAP? insurance. I had never heard of GAP insurance and they never even mentioned or offered me GAP insurance. Luckily 5 months later Chrysler financial contacted me about said truck and if it had been totaled, I said yes, they asked why I was still making payments on it, I told them because my insurance company didn't give me enough money to pay the vehicle off. They told me to stop making payments and that they would reimburse me for the extra payments I had made because they carried GAP on all of their leases. So Chrysler financial saved me while State Farm screwed me. The crazy thing was that my wife at the time worked for SF and never brought up GAP insurance either. Sorry to ramble on but that was the first thing that popped into my head when you said SF insurance. You seem to be a very good business person and I'm sure you probably have all of your bases covered, but I just wanted to relay my experience with SF insurance. Congratulations on the Demon and looking forward to more of your videos. Wishing you and your family a safe and Merry Christmas.

Good video. Thanks for sharing. I wanted a Demon 170 but was not paying over msrp. How Dodge handled the sales and how the dealers screwed everyone left a bad taste in my mouth. My first challenger was a 500 hp srt manual. I found it hard to drive and bottom line was I wanted a hellcat. I drove from Las Vegas to Carlsbad CA because hellcats were too expensive in Vegas. I bought a 2018 hellcat widebody that had 2500 miles on it for 77000 cash, (I got 35000 trade for the srt) and walked out with no payments. I love the car. I have never taken it to the track, I've never driven it in track mode and I've never launched it. It's an automatic so I don't have the shift issues anymore. I drive it everyday but I don't beat on it. I would love the Demon 170 but I can't justify the purchase. It's great having all that power, but with it comes great responsibility. Sorry for the ramble. Maybe I can pick up a 170 on the secondary market because there's going to be a fair amount repossessed.

Definitely appreciate the transparency. I have the same thought seeing these people buying these cars they ostensibly cant afford and give no info. Drives me nuts. But you are absolutely right about hard work and being where you are and then doing this on the side. Shame on people for being jealous. You earned it. OCM said this was “doable for the average Joe” since day one and he wasn’t lying. If this was my goal I could’ve done it, too, and credit goes to guys like him for inspiring confidence. My credit is better than his and borrowing power allowed for the loan. Catch there is, for the average Joe there’s just too many other expenses flying around to justify a collector car soaking up so much cash flow volume. BUT, it’s enough just to know it’s possible! In the meantime, I’m still enjoying my WBSP that I got at MSRP back when there weren’t any on lots. Drive on, ladies and gents!

I am a firm believer that before you buy a expensive depreciating asset you need to have a few things:
    1. Own a home
    2. Own investments
    3. Have a 401k Roth/traditional
    4. Have a emergency fund ( No $1k fund is not a emergency fund).
That said mostly that own these expensive cars sadly don't have what i just listed. They will die on the walmart floor just to flex.
OC congrats on all your success. I hope many follow your example ❤.

You did well on this deal! When you look at the markups people are paying and what most dealerships are charging for these things you really came out well. Regarding the loan terms it doesn't matter what term you take if you know you will turn the vehicle or pay it off ahead of the term. I follow the same strategy when I buy vehicles as I turn them frequently.

Congratulations on the Demon and it all makes financial sense to me for your type of business. As a CPA, the financial illiteracy of the general public is quite high and I’m sure the illiteracy percentage is even higher on TH-cam. It’s not surprising given the lack of financial education during elementary school, high school, and even higher education institutions.

Insurance is what gets me, I've got a couple of Dodge Charger SXTs in my family. They are the V6 grocery getter versions, and the insurance company calls them sports cars.
They cost more to insure than our GMC Yukan.
I can't imagine what it would cost me if they were scat packs.

I know I’m outlier, but I don’t understand the typical car buying public. I’m seventy five and very comfortably retired. One reason for that comfortable retirement is I have NEVER had a car loan. My 2018 Mustang GT is only my fifth car. I have always purchased new cars and maintained them properly. Typically a I drive a car for ten plus years. Right now I’m struggling with myself regarding buying a new Dark Horse Mustang. I can easily afford the car, but, refuse to pay ridiculous dealer “Addendums”. My local Ford dealer has a “USED” brand new Dark Horse on the lot with a $25,000 markup! Sooner or latter I’ll probably by a new car, but, it will not have an “Addendum” and it’ll be a cash deal! Happy motoring 🤠

I agree with other comments earlier made. This is an excellent example of transparency. Unfortunately, for most of us, this is a very expensive compulsion and out of, at least, my reach. However, I’m almost 73 and this compulsion is way beyond the time expectation I have to look forward too. The loan terms of your deal were well thought through. I was skeptical at first about the 96 month loan term but understand your logic. I’ve always purchased vehicles with 24 and 36 month terms to avoid paying any excess interest but have paid them off usually in a year. I will continue to watch and support your channel. I wonder about your rationale about reselling this vehicle especially after your video emphasizing the ridiculousness of keeping one of these vehicles for a later time as an investment?

    • @ocmotivator
      @ocmotivator  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

Thanks! And as I’ve shared in prior videos, a limited production, numbered car, that is more than just stickers or a name, have a proven chance to hold their values. The key is getting the car at msrp with no mark up. Where people will get hurt is when they pay the mark up which is basically paying the dealer for all of the future depreciation up front that may take you years to get back. The 2018 demon at msrp was under $90k and they’re still holding from $130k-$150k after 5 years so it stands to reason that the 170 will settle down to about $135-$150k while possibly pushing the 2018 down just a little. This means that the chances are good that I’ll be fine on this car even if I drive it and enjoy it. Worst case scenario I’d be the cheapest D170 out there if I sold it for $120k which means I’m pretty insulated from depreciation. I wouldn’t have bought it for the prices people are paying right now at $200k+. They’ll likely never see their money back.

Nice video, I watched in 3rds to get to the important data. I picked up a modded 2017 SRT392 in January. My 870 credit score meant jack to the banks, 9.1%. I traded in a 2019 V6 Impala that had less than 20k on odo with 320 mo payments for 491 payments (on a 6 yr old car!) 475HP is more than enough for me. Insurance went up 23 bucks a month with Allstate. I plan on refying loan when the rates come down.

Who cares if someone in their 20's can afford a 170, why are you so concerned about how they can afford these cars or how they are paying for it? IMO, materialistic jealousy is a wasted emotion, be thankful for what you have because.... in the waiting line of life, for every person in front of you... there is probably 100,000 or more behind you.

My point was that so many of YOU are being sold a lie here on TH-cam about how people buy these expensive cars and they rarely explain or share how they’re doing it. Some are way over extending themselves in hopes of getting rich on TH-cam. I’m trying to help people understand the economics of buying cars and not to believe everything they see online. My entire purpose is to help and educate people in a world where there’s so many smoke and mirrors. Sorry my point didn’t land with you and you took it as I was bashing them. I thought I even said I admire these young hard working guys who have found sustainable success at an early age. But again. You missed that point too. Feels like so many are looking to be triggered when there’s nothing to be triggered about.

You're one a very few transparent TH-camr's. I'm retired and finally we could afford our new '21 6.4 T/A. Great trade in from covid and
ZERO % interest rate. We both work, grown children and it fit the budget. Also an excellent insurance payment due our great driving records. We probably waited a good 4 years. So I personally enjoy how you share your details. Keep up the great channel.

Same thing happened when I ordered my 1320 - MSRP went up before it was built - but I had my purchase price locked in. The dealer doesn't lose money because the car's invoice price is set when the order is accepted, not when it is built.

Fact is anyone can work hard and make money... I am ashamed to say but I dropped out of HS in 10th grade, started a small Lawn company and now own 3 large companies, own multiple properties, multiple cars and feeling great... My point is with drive and dedication anyone can make real money and do productive work... TH-cam unfortunately has created lack of good workers cause everyone wants to record themself to make money... OC not you as your work and do this on the side so you are filling a need with your company and I applaud you for that...Congrats brother... I'm 48 now and couldnt ask for a better life and I've earned every bit of my empire...

👍 I HOPE YOU READ THIS COMMENT. I watch all your videos and appreciate what you are doing. Word of advice, if/when you get that car on a drag strip, bring along someone who knows what they're doing with high HP cars on a drag strip, like Racer X for example. Most people don't realize how quickly things can go wrong with a high HP car. I'd hate to see you hit the wall or crash the car due to lack of experience. There's no replacement for seat time in the car under power. The most important thing is START SLOW AND LEARN THE CAR. Enjoy, and have a great day! 👍🤘

You and I think alike. I've never let any of my loans go to the end of the terms. I bought a house and stretched the loan out to 30 years, but I paid it off in 4 years. My payments were low enough that if I got into a financial bind, I could still make the minimal payments without an issue.

I'm a little older than you are, OCM. When I was a kid and had gotten old enough to know what lying is and what a liar is (5, 6, 7ish), sometimes my mom would tell me something and I would call her a liar. She had fun with it and would go back and forth with me. She would say "no I'm not" and I would say "yes you are". One day she seemed to have had enough of my shenanigans. She told me only a liar thinks someone is always lying to them.

USAA Auto insurance was great before the pandemic. I also have a perfect driving record and have been with them since 2009. I was paying 300 a month for a Subaru WRX STI. I bought myself a 2023 Hellcat brand new, and my monthly insurance went to 1k a month for both vechiles. I also dropped USAA and went to State Farm and for both vechiles. I am paying 450 a month now.
Some insurance companies will also pro rate you based on miles. So make sure you ask every question to your insurance company.

I have a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner 383/4 speed, and a 1970 Challenger R/T, also a 383/4 speed. Both are completely stock, and near mint. Not absolutely perfect, but close. Both are numbers matching cars. Obviously they are not top of the line models. No 440s or Hemis. But either one of them is worth more than a Demon 170, and they continue to appreciate. They are insured as collector cars by Hagerty, and driven very little. Both are paid for. I take them out early on Sunday morning when there is very little traffic on the roads and drive them around for a little while. Both have 14 inch (yes, 14 inch) wheels and normal (for the time) ground clearance, so they can be driven on normal roads, over speed bumps, and into driveways. When I bought these cars, I did not pay ANY extra charges. No tax, no dealer fees. Yes I paid title and registration fees, which in my state are based on the model year. After the car is 20 years old it bottoms out. So on a car that is more than 20 years old, you pay about $50 to transfer a title and register it for one year. That's it. It doesn't matter what the car is worth. I paid cash for one of my cars, I traded another car and some cash for the other one. No loans, no interest.
I was in the military when I was 20, because I couldn't find a job that paid enough to even support me when I got out of high school. I was in my mid 40s (and after a divorce) before things finally started going right for me financially, and I was able to buy expensive cars, motorcycles, and even had an airplane for a while (I lost my pilots license due to a disability) I recently turned 65, and am looking at selling some of my vehicles. I want to convert them into cash, or real estate, or something less finicky, rather than leave them to my kids, who won't have a clue what to do with them. Unlike a Demon 170, which means absolutely nothing to me, these cars have value to me beyond what they are worth monetarily. They are rare vehicles, and they cannot be replaced. I would actually rather lose money on them if it means getting them into the hands of someone who will appreciate them and take care of them. There are rich idiots out there that would just love to put computer engines in them, and 30" GHETTO wheels on them. I'd rather crush them than let that happen.
I have been a hot rodder and drag racer all my life. I started working on other people's cars at around age 10. At around age 22, I was out of the military, and got a job with the fleet services department for the city I lived in. I got a car, and started building a hot rod. I wanted to see what it would do, so I took it to the drag strip. I didn't do as well as I had hoped, but I immediately fell in love with drag racing. I've been doing it ever since. I build my own cars. I don't spend a fortune all at once. I do not chase higher speeds and lower E.T.s. that can get really expensive really fast. I race for fun. I have probably a little over $30K in my current race car. I built it myself from a ratty 1985 Camaro I found on Craigslist. All I used from that car was the body. Racing is a continuing expense. Parts break. Parts wear out. Paying someone else to fix a broken race car is not rational to me. If you are not a mechanic, and can't build/fix your own race car, you probably shouldn't be racing. Yes you can buy a race car, either brand new, or one that someone else built. But I don't see the satisfaction in that. What racing is, to me, is basically testing what I built.
BTW, the value of Demon 170s has been dropping like a rock (as I expected) during the past 4 months, so this guys plans may be affected by that. When you buy a vintage classic car, that is very unlikely to happen.

Brad, I seriously don’t Think You Should get a Demon 170; Because That Is a purpose built Drag-Car. You are a Daily Driver like myself. You will lose all of the Drivability that You are used to. Racer X is a Drag Racer. You should just keep what you have. If you need more Horsepower, Put a “Power Adder” on what you have. But Then This is Just My Opinion. You do what makes you happy. Love your content and honesty. I have learned So much from you and I am Older than you. Keep up the GREAT work!

Thank you for the video, It’s important that people realize the true cost of these “luxury purchases” In case you are not aware, He should from the “womb to the tomb” Preorder and changes with the price, from the dealer. Than the government raises the price on a tax. Than dealing with dealer issues (which are all legal) Also, finance and insurance terms. He done the work to be in a place to get the Demon at a very reasonable price.
