  • We want to lead puppy training by example. Self awareness and self projection are two of the most important attributes needed to become a good puppy trainer. Visualize success; realize success!
    I hope you guys enjoy!
This channel is devoted to providing a window into the life of professional dog trainer, Stonnie Dennis. I talk about dog training, boarding, health, equipment, and all the things that go into owning and running a successful dog training and boarding kennel.
At our kennel we place special emphasis on helping dogs reach their full potential through the use of physically and mentally demanding activities. Our primary goal is to help families raise happy, healthy, well socialized, canine companions.
We especially love training Labrador Retrievers, so don't be surprised when you see Labs of every age, size, shape, and color!!!

I've been watching for only around 3 months now, but I've realized that Stonnie Dennis dog training isn't just for dogs, its life philosophy as well.
    You are the man Stonnie.

The 3 part series you did with the lovely 'Holmes' who you were training to be a mountain rescue dog was outstanding - really easy to follow and great to see how the training progressed and how well Holmes did

You are so inspiring. I was bored walking my now 7 month old Golden who we have had for 6 weeks in just a flat straight path past houses. You talked about using your environment. I went down to a park near my house and now Auggie and I have a fun routine. He walks nicely to the park after stopping and sitting or waiting or something for the first 100 yards. At the park, we jog over to benches overlooking a splash pad and he jumps up on every bench, and walks nicely in between them and then we go around some planters around the park, next is a jump up on the picnic table & his once over by me and then a walk over to a bike rack that has wide openings and he weaves through them and then we walk on a loose leash for a period and back to the little "course" .. we have only done this for three days and day one, he was afraid of the metal benches and picnic table (he didn't like the way they felt on his feet (I checked if they were too hot first) ... he is a really smart boy and I showed him how and now he does it like a champ. We will go around and on the benches (they are in a circle around the splash pad) a couple of times. I also watched your video on acclimating to weather -- I am not fond of the cold, but I know Auggie needs exercise so out we went today -- wind chill made it 23 degrees this morning (down 50 degrees in two days!!) .. I was COLD .. I couldn't do the entire thing as much as we usually do -- but I was out there and I was so happy to be getting fresh air and my dog was happy! I will go again later when it warms up -- it alters training -- you don't even feel as though you are training. Thank you for posting such great videos!

The most valuable part of the video was correcting the handler, I'd love to see more of that. Philosophy and perfect dogs are fine but that's not why most of us watch

    • @waterphoenix3120
      @waterphoenix3120 ปีที่แล้ว

Agreed! Would love to see more videos of "handler correction". For example, in this video I learned that I should communicate with my dogs more proactively and prepare them for the next step, so I don't have to use "negative" words / sounds as often.

I have loved all your videos for a while now but I have to thank you especially for this one. When I implement your techniques and advice, I am very aware that I am still a student in dog training (and sometimes my poor puppy gets confused by my uncertainty and [lack of] communication). It helps to watch a newbie working with her dog and see that she reminds me a little of me. I also love seeing the crazy Ammo running around (also obviously a newbie to your teachings) because he is a huge distraction!

Stoney you are the best! A friend of mine recently got a new puppy, it's a German shepherd husky mix. He had dogs growing up as a kid but never had the responsibility of raising a puppy on his own. That was always his parents job he just played with the dog. He knows I have well trained dogs & asked me for some advice. The 1st & best advice I could give him is to subscribe to your channel and watch. So far hes been training this puppy for 6 or 7 weeks and i heard nothing but wonderful things & seen great pictures. I just wanna tell you thank you and again job well done with another satisfied subscriber.

Great training video. Acclimating dogs to the rain is so crucial. A a lot city dog owners, keep their dog inside all day and spoil their dogs unnaturally to the point where the dog becomes distracted or completely avoidant of the elements. Then you go to the country and see the same breed happy and durable because they spend equal time inside and outside while allowing the dog to roam free on the property and also regularly taken on hikes.

Stonnie, you have helped me tremendously with my new puppy and I cant tell you how grateful I am. I just got his second vaccinations at 12 weeks and am eager to help him socialize as much as I can. The vet pretty much said I should shelter him as much as possible until a week after all vaccinations are complete at 17 weeks. I live in an area where I can almost guarantee all dogs are vaccinated, so I am wondering if not carefully socializing him is more of a risk than him contracting some disease. I will probably avoid dog parks but I would like to at least get him used to the beach where he could still encounter some other people/dogs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

0:20 Probably the best advise anyone can give when it comes to dogs. Dogs are a reflection of what people put into them. If a lot of aggression is done with the dog you will get an aggressive dog. If you put calmness and confidence into a dog you will have a calm and confident dog.

    Hi!
    Could you please help us!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🐶
My puppy turned 4 months old today (male).
He never showed any aggression neither to us nor to dogs.
Today I was teaching him “leave it”. Everything went great until I started using boiled chicken head.🐔And boiled chicken meat was as a treat.
He got crazy, when I told him to leave it, grin👹, started to jump on my legs, trying to bite me. My husband came to help, took the puppy up in his arms. Then the puppy bit his cheek.😵 My husband hold him, trying to settle him down. As I understand this happened because he didn’t get this chicken head in the end. (he never tried it before as well). Right?🤔
We never used negative reinforcement for him, never beat him of course.
Please tell us, what should we do in such situations? Should I keep using this kind of food for “leave it”, to provoke him? Or stop using it? How to behave if he will get crazy like this again? Thank you in advance for any advice 🙏🏻😊❤️
