One I'd recommend that doesn't necessarily fit the "family friendly" aesthetic, but would be great for older kids/pre-teens is Metroid Prime 4, which is set for next year. The Metroid Prime games have the look of a more mature sci-fi shooter, but the violence never gets more graphic than "bug guts" on the screen. It's slow paced and has Zelda-style Z-targeting based combat, so aim skill isn't an issue. My friends and I played a lot of the original when we were ~9 and became lifelong fans of the series. The remaster of the first game came out last year and 4 is slated for next year
That’s a great recommendation! I wanted to keep this particular video to games that are releasing this year, but Metroid Prime 4 is definitely on my radar. Thanks for pointing out the features of the game that make it more accessible to younger audiences.

Any gamer with young kids should have a Nintendo switch but if you only have a ps5 Asto Bot looks great.
For sure! It hadn’t been announced yet when I made this video but the other Astro Bot game is great!
