I cant believe ive found this, brings back lots of great memories, ive been visiting my Nan in Blandford since 1971,so this for me is a real trip down memory lane,Blandford is lovely Georgian town with loads of history,to see the bypass under construction and the old Railway arches, shame its changed so much.Glen
Blandford Forum was on the route to the Grandmas from home when I were a little lad. The cyclists taking a break at the top of the hill in the evening summer sun looking at the enormous white gash through the chalk brought it all back. Thank you
Hi Ben Glad you enjoyed the Vid The background music came with the software I bought for the gadget I used for converting Video to CD format. After trawling through all the tracks this seemed to be the most appropriate. The First track is called Love comes, then Amanda, Then Despertar. Thats all the infomation I have. Regards Mike
Thank you for your comment Yes its a sign of the times. Cant believe its nearly 25 years ago when I filmed this, in the early days of Video. I went to school at Spetibury primary when the railway was fully opperational, thought at the time it would be there forever. Wish I had a camera then.
Me & my wife just watched this, love it great filming by the way, were you filming & someone was driving, do you still live in Blandford Forum cheers pal we are going to check out more of your videos
Hi Des Your very welcome glad you enjoyed it. At the time it was for camera practice with my new state of the art VHS video camera it was huge. Now you can do it all on a mobile phone. I cant believe it was 25 years ago.
Check out Hollandtowers on youtube for film of Blandford forum station in the 1960's. Also excellent footage of Shillingston and Bailey Gate available to purchase on DVD in the Golden age of steam. Follow the link from hollandtowers.
Any idea who owns or how to get hold of an original of this? A friend owns some of the land in it and would like it for a collection he is putting together.
Hi Iain. I recorded this footeage myself using a VHS Video camera. I may have the oridginal somewhere though bare in mind video quality was not great in those days. You are welcome to keep a copy for your collection.
