You're the best, Stassa! I learn so much from your reviews, and I buy so many knives based on them as well. And I do use your affiliate links and discount codes!
Back flipper tab is too small and pointy sharp. Front flipper tab is superb. Thumbhole is also great. Vancor button lock works naturally and is strong and solid. Love it.
I bought this knife through the kickstarter… I’ve never had such a solid lock up on a knife. The steel is awesome too… I sharpened this thing so sharp it’s amazing.
Thanks for doing this testing! That batoning is something that is certainly beyond what a folder should be used for, but very impressive that it held up. I know you just do it for extreme durability testing, and it is appreciated.
Yeah now I usually only do the extreme stuff either when I am pretty sure it can handle it or when a company makes a bold claim that they made a folder that is either like a fixed blade and I usually chuckle a little or if they claim it’s a hard use knife. Man I gotta admit this knife has some of the tightest lockup after doing the extreme stuff than almost all the knives I’ve done it with the only other one that felt like it was the Microtech manual Stitch 👍🍻🍻
@@Stassa23 What are your thoughts on the old Coniferous V from Kizer? Is it nearly as tough as this? I didn't see anyone test that but it was said to be as strong as a compression lock Great vid btw, thanks for the peace of mind with this new lock!
@@Stassa23I like your way of thinking. Definitely a Nutinfancy type of thinking that I think are great tests when knife companies make that bold claim. I appreciate those tests as well.
Been waiting for someone to really test this lock. Was not expecting the batoning lol, but I'm glad you did. You really put this thing through it's paces! Excellent video!👍👍👍
That's some hard-core testing. Thanks a ton for this. I'm really happy with the one sample of Elmax I have from Vosteed. This one's on my radar for sure.
I’m not good front flipping either. I always have to flick the wrist when doing my thumb. Reach around I have no problem. Pretty excited about this knife though! Excellent testing.
Yeah that's some of the most severe batoning I have ever seen a folder be subjected to without failure. Vosteed must have figured out that pivot lock for sure. Very impressive!!
The only other two folders that I can recall taking the same abuse was my Microtech Ram Lock Stitch and my Demko AD20 and I would say the AD20 is the strongest of the bunch however this Vosteed is more of an edc knife size and weight than the other two 👍🍻🍻
hmm kickstarter version looks tempting but I like my mini nightshade with carbon fiber scale and orange backspacer part as accent color... how long Vosteed will make more variant for premium material scale? also I wonder how sturdy is this lock VS with Reate PL-XT ...

Great video , follow through on those spine wacks though lol
This seems like the lock of the future. I’ve seen disassemblies and it’s just super solid. Other pivot locks seem pretty flimsy (utilize thin metal tabs) by comparison. I’m guessing no patent here, so it would be cool to see what other companies can do with this too.
@@TheWhiskyExplorer I think these chinese knife companies have some respect for being original and not copying each other's new locking system I mean it took a while for these companies to even do the axis lock... Hell civivi hasn't even done an axis lock knife yet but they did it with dutch Bushcraft on a ti model under we knives which is coming out later this year but yeah I don't see anyone doing this exact same lock besides Vosteed but maybe I'm wrong it wouldn't be the first time lol peace.
The advantages of using a Kickstarter are pretty much the same as a "pre-sale" and include access to a large audience of potential customers, the ability to test the market and validate the idea, and the opportunity to raise funds without giving up equity. It also generates a lot of publicity, and a large number of people will already have this knife when it goes on sale, which generates immediate reviews.
This kickstarter thing seems to be en vogue… from an economical persoective it is soooo wrong, especially when real companies go for it: If someone thinks he has something to sell he should produce it instead of sharing the risk of economic fail! I can afford to not support companies that do this. When we assume that Economy is communication, the language of which is paying money, what would this kickstarter thing mean? If a little kid has a big idea and needs help from unknown people because he/she is orfan… I get it. But a company fundraising in this way? Naahhhh!
And what more would that have achieved other than your convenience?? Had they used T8 you probably would then complain that they look too big for the size of pivot and should have used T6. You and everyone else didn't design it and have no idea why they may have chosen what they did. Always something to bitch about...
@@doktorb3at There's an easy fix for that ... Stop cranking them down so damn tight, there's no need for it. Not sure what you have but I don't own a single knife that requires tightening the pivot that much without it killing the action.
@@doktorb3at Ok, well now there's two T6'S to fit into the same small space. What's your point?? There's no rule that says any screw that has to do with the pivot MUST be T8.

Thanks for the work with this review!
Now... everyone message original goat and let's get this thing into some Ti scales!

What a wonderful knife. Looks handy. Have a wonderful evening brother
Stass love it man!!! Keep pushing them blades to the limit I wish could lol.
Others reviewers- "I mean, obviously you aren't gonna be out there batoning with a button lock"
Stassa "Hold my firewood"
Howling laughing!😅

Everyone is hype for this!! Liking the frag pattern.
Me too!
Please do a pivot lock comparison video if you have others.
Awesome test. Thanks😊
Seems like a well built beast!
Thank you for the very thorough (cringe-worthy at times) testing! Pledged on Kickstarter... cant wait to get it!
Love to see a knife handle what you did to it so easily. Wasn't sure how sturdy the lock is, but now I really want to get one
'Ankylo' is a reference in medicine to 'the Spine.' As in 'Ankylospondylolisthesis.'
In this case, the designer said he had the "Ankylosaurus" dinosaur in mind. Google an image and you'll see why.
I’m impressed!
Would have got one regardless but impressive to see it shrug off that kind of...spirited use.

Why does Vosteed do deep carry pocket clips but they aren't deep carry? Weird. Cool knife tho and great review stassa. Peace!

I don't remember if you got your hands on the aurora knife and tool - Truffle, and the reate PL. If you have how does the action feel in comparison?

Does the pivot button kinda free float, move around easily??
Mine does not. Hope that helps.

Could the spyderco pm2 or three do this stuff in cruwear?
Why did they pick Kickstarter why didn't they pick blade HQ or knife center or DLT
Why does Vosteed find it necessary to kickstart this?
Marketing ploy. Creates a sense of urgency for people to get behind it because if you don’t it won’t get made.
