Little Drummer Boy and Patapan

Patapan is a traditional French Christmas Carol. It was composed in 1720. The Little Drummer Boy was composed in 1941 right in the middle of World War II. But the style is rather similar. Both tend to have droning 5ths in the bass.

I've loved the Little Drummer Boy ever since the first time a choir I was in sang it. Combining it with Patapan (new to me) is a cool idea.

Simple music can be obvious and trite. But it can also be elegant in its simplicity. I believe that the simple things in life when expressed elegantly are the most powerful.

John, I have been very involved in animal videos for the last couple of months. It has been an antidote for me to the incredibly depressing stories about violence and war. When I see such kindness from human beings as they care for animals it gives me a kind of renewed hope for the world.

@ Dear Gary, during my 30 year marriage, we had a total of five small dogs, three at one time. Each gave so much love and many tears were shed on their passing.
