    I own a 15-year-old BaE Series 71 stapler, with very low mileage, used exclusively for marine upholstery. This video ended a frustrating 2 day search and saved me from purchasing a new stapler. In the middle of a technically demanding job, my BaE stapler stopped performing and the job was stopped. After two days of "google" searches and TH-cam videos was ready to order the knock-off tool to complete the job. As one last resort watched this video again, this time completely, and learned that if air pressure is too low the "pusher" blade will not return. I had reduced air pressure, intentionally, to soft-set the staple, making it easier to pull during a trial-fitting session. The tool was already leaking air internally, so would have never assumed the issue was from low pressure.
    After watching this video I returned to the shop, adjusted the air pressure to find the sweet spot, and Walla, all was good. It would seem the magic air pressure number is around 45 lbs +/-. Below that the blade will not return. That was completely counterintuitive to my diagnosis. Now I wonder how many other BaE users have been through this agonizing process.
    THANK YOU for adding the very short comment regarding low air pressure adjustment in this demonstration video!!!
    I am now searching for a cause and solution for the air leakage that may be caused in the trigger area and heard mostly near the intake connection of the tool.
    Regards,
    Wm

      Hi there, we're super pleased this video has provided value! No one wants to have to fork out for a new tool and we equally don't want to be seen to take money from customers when it's not necessary. With regard to your air leak, I'd personally go down the process of elimination route, starting with an internal o-ring assessment... You might however find the exact diagnosis hidden in another of our videos or even our guides: help.mytoolkit.co.uk/ :)

    Steve! Many many thanks for this video and discussing the very important role that air pressure plays with one of these machines. I was helping a friend with an upholstery project and the staple gun would shoot one staple and then it would jam. She would take it apart, remove the jammed staple and then load the staples again. She did this for 2 hours before I came to help her and I told her I would try to find a trouble shooting video. As soon as I told her that the air pressure had to be at 90 psi, (it was down near 60 where the person who had loaned her the machine had it set) it worked perfectly. Thank you so very much from two girls in Pennsylvania, USA.

    I had two pieces of furniture stripped and ready for new upholstery, then found that my almost new long nose stapler wouldn't work. I knew nothing about how the inner mechanicals worked, but your helpful "show and tell' had me back in business in no time! MANY thanks to you!

    You could have expanded on the oiling section considering it is the single most important thing you need during servicing!
    Maybe next time.

    • @mytoolkitonline
      @mytoolkitonline  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We agree, oiling is an important factor, but furthermore ensuring the tool is used correctly will increase the life expectancy of the tool and thus decrease the need for such in-depth servicing so often. Each individual tool can be serviced in very different ways but for the sake of this 'overview' video, ensuring the internals of your tool (specifically the 'O' rings') are oiled, we felt, was sufficient. Nonetheless, perhaps a more in-depth video focusing on primarily the oiling of tools could be conjured up in the future :) Thanks for your feedback

      Hi, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but we won't be able to advise on the Craftsman brand. It is quite an uncommon stapler here in the UK and so we are not familiar with its operating functions. Apologies.

    I have a Porter Cable NS150 stapler. It has hardly been used.
    I set the air at 90 psi.
    The driver pin does not retract most of the time. That prevents the staples from feeding.

    • @mytoolkitonline
      @mytoolkitonline  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there are a few options to look at.
      Remove the driver assembly - then you can possibly dislodge any debris which may of impeded the driver return - check the driver is not bent and clean driver and lubricate the cylinder/piston O Ring with air tool oil.
      Reassemble and test ensuring air pressure is at least 90 psi
      Regards,
      Steve.

      Hello, no problem. You can use any Air Tool specific Oil, such as the one from Sealey or Draper brands.
      Hope that helps :)

    Hi Steve
    I have a rapid ps101 which has hardly been used. It worked initially yesterday and I put in 20 staples, but then it started leaking air at the trigger. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
    Geoff

    • @mytoolkitonline
      @mytoolkitonline  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Geoff. I can only guess as I've not seen the tool for myself but my first port of call would be to replace all of the o-rings. Second to that, I'd look at assessing the trigger assembly itself to try and distinguish if any parts have worn/worked out of place... I hope this helps. If you require further assistance, please get in touch directly via email with some pictures and a description of the problem. All the best, Ethan :)

    Hi Steve. I’ve just bought a fasco stapler for some upholstery work. I’ve bought some 53/6mm fine wire staples I can’t get it to load. Am I using the wrong staples. Thanks

    • @mytoolkitonline
      @mytoolkitonline  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good evening sir! Fasco make a wide range of staplers - if you have the model number, drop us a line at info@mytoolkit.co.uk and we will happily help identify the correct staples. 53 series staples are most commonly used in hand and elctric staplers

    I have a Rainco upholstery air stapler. It will shoot 1 staple and the the driver piston stay down. How can I repair? Thanks for any info.

    • @mytoolkitonline
      @mytoolkitonline  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joan assuming your air pressure is correct (90psi) then the problem could be around the trigger assembly (getting spares could be a problem) or if you remove the piston/driver assembly the damper may have broken down and starting to disintegrate causing debris to interfere with the return, obtaining spares may again be difficult. Possibly investment in a new tool is the answer.

    Hey & thanks for the informative video...Should you use Vaseline to lubricate the Internal Piston & Sleeve??

    • @mytoolkitonline
      @mytoolkitonline  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, you need to use air tool oil to lubricate these tools as other lubricants can damage the tool. Glad you enjoyed the video!

    • @mytoolkitonline
      @mytoolkitonline  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be fine we use O Ring lube on the O Ring and a little air tool oil on the cylinder.

    I have a newer rainco model stapler, and it often misfires and jams multiple staples through at one time. I haven't been able to find any information online on how to fix this issue. Any suggestions?

    • @mytoolkitonline
      @mytoolkitonline  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi my first sugguestion is to approach where you have bought the tool from and then if out of warranty contact Rainco direct.
