This is a total shot in the dark, but based on what we know about Case 2, I'd have to guess that this was meant to take place *directly* after, or perhaps even DURING the Colorbars Broadcast-- the emergency alert sound might not be anything symbolic, and may be meant to be a literal in-universe emergency alert warning people of the broadcast, and plus, the frantic, almost heartbeat-like rhythm doesn't sound like the reflective tone of someone grieving a long-lost friend, but instead perhaps the panicked horror of someone who has just (or is currently) witnessed a horrific death in real-time

If so, then you're already pretty much halfway to getting it-- each of those songs tells part of the story of a grimdark (with some cosmic horror elements) series called Communications. Though the series was canceled partway through, this instrumental would've been part of its 2nd arc, referred to as Case 2, and would have tied into the story started by Broadcast Illusion! Hope this is helpful, if not, I can elaborate more!

im trying to figure out this song and its so confusing bc like - 1; colorbars wasnt a part of communications, it got reworked into broadcast illusion so it’d fit the theme of communications more iirc 2; this could still be a song abt steph though? because colorbars couldve had its own storyline before communications that involved steph before GHOST decided to make a bigger storyline (communications) that included kennith and steph 3; this could also be a scrapped ver of a colorbars remake, i think the title “sign off intrusion” still fits with the storyline of what happened during kennith’s broadcast unless the title is fanmade .. on the other hand though the title could fit for a warning for the area which does seem more likely 4; maybe colorbars almost wasnt remade into broadcast illusion and this was going to be a sequel to colorbars while this & colorbars would be part of communications? or maybe a sequel to colorbars in general? - thats just my thoughts on this tho.. we probably wont ever figure it out tbh
