    Thank you for sharing this. I don't know anything about scuba diving, but I imagine a lot of preparation is needed. Thank you for cleaning up the lake along your way. I am in a masters program studying music for film, and am currently writing music based on a Lake Tahoe blizzard. I am fascinated with how drastic this lake can change. She's beautiful when calm, and eerie when disturbed by the strong Sierra winds.

    I've been enjoying your videos you share with us. Tahoe has always fascinated me, above water and below. It's history is fascinating. To imagine how over 100-150 years ago, the land was stripped of its' trees. And I'm sure some of those trees were possibly used as rafts to transport people/goods from place to place before there were developed roads. And the geological formations of the rocks and layers is awesome. And many people don't realize how deadly the cold waters can be, even in summer. I lived in Kings Beach for 7 years('97-'04 owning/operating a hotel). I have the big Lake Tahoe book telling it's history. Again, thanks for your videos.

    Made my first open water dive in Tahoe in the mid 70's, I think it was from Camp Richardson, I remember great vis. a complete lack of fish, and cold. On our 2nd dive the next day we came upon a girl who had just drown while water skiing at about 30 feet, it was a pretty traumatic 2nd dive for a 14 year old, though it didn't dampen my enthusiasm for diving. • @AGDinCA
    @AGDinCA 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    A couple of things that really stick with me:
    1. Lake looked very healthy. 👍
    2. There wasn't nearly as much human trash as I expected, thankfully.
    3. The topography was absolutely stunning, and very surprising. The sedimentary layers, along with apparent river channels were fascinating to see. I'm wondering why there were so many trees out that far from the banks. Also, I saw some interesting large spherical rocks, whereas most were more flattened, akin to river stones.
    Thanks for sharing this footage. It really was fascinating!

      I am glad you enjoyed it. I had read that there was an eraof drought that persisted in this area for several hundred years. It ended 4 or 5 hundred years ago. Another lake I dive in this area has trees still standing upright over 100 feet deep. When they were studied cuttings were taken and the wood still smelled fresh. It is an amazing area to explore. BTW, your comment is refreshing!

    • @AGDinCA
      @AGDinCA 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mokpot Ah, an extended drought would answer the question of the excessive trees trunks and limbs. It makes me wonder just how much deeper it is now than at its **shallowest known depth. I am also wondering if the depths are cyclical, as many drought periods are.
      Now that I think about it, the drought you mentioned actually explains the sedimentary layers I saw, as each rainy season thereafter would bear witness to yet another layer of mud as the lake's water level slowly rose.
      I'm glad my comment was "refreshing." Personally, I didn't think it was particularly interesting... which frightens me for the caliber of any other comments you must receive. LOL
      **shallowest - is that even a word?? Welp... it is now!! 😂😂

    • @mokpot
      @mokpot  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Refreshing and interesting, most, not all, of the comments on this video have been about the absense of fish.

    • @AGDinCA
      @AGDinCA 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mokpot LOL! Yeah, I can't imagine it would be particularly advantageous for fish to hang out in the crystal clear water. Predatory flyers would have a field day if fish hung out in the shallows.

She being an Alpine lake there are no native aquatic plants other than grass at the shore in places where it can grow. The trout in there have excellent eye sight and will scram before you can spot them. Oh yeah, you better get to Garwoods and spend that token! I wonder if the fact that plastic doesn't disintegrate is better than if it would... although there are micro plastics... imagine a body of water of years of melted plastic integrated into it. I hope would come up with solutions in the future.

    Wow, came across your video and was intrigued. I live in Sacramento and have been to Lake Tahoe tons of times. When I see the lake I always wondered what was down on the bottom. Like others surprised there was no fish 🐠 or plants, plus pretty clear. What end of the lake do you visit, how deep were you? They say the lake is so treacherous but maybe that is in the deep middle part. Anyway, this was cool, like to seem more videos since I have a fear of scuba diving so I will live vicariously through you.
