They were _cowards_ for not pulling the trigger on this relationship/plotthread. I mean, the show has covered some pretty dark topics and subject matter. It STARTED with a sexually predatory female teacher in a relationship/abusing Archie, so they aren't afraid to go there!
You got this enthralling spiritual cult leader and a damaged teenage girl infiltrator, they are both playing major psychological mind games with each other, there is _definite sexual tension_ happening, and Betty (or a darker part of her) wouldn't consider at least once to perhaps use that to her advantage in their game of 4d chess? They are both lying and trying to manipulate each other SO HARD, it's like seeing two cold-war spies facing off.
It would clearly be SUPER fucked up, especially for Betty because while she could validate it at that moment, whether it has any effect on Edgar's schemes or if he's totally in control, a relationship like that would probably have lasting ramifications on her emotionally/mentally later.
Cowards. They should have done it. It's 1000% fucked up, for sure, but Edgar is a fucked up character.

Riverdale started good. And ended shitty. Right after the first episode🙄
Okay but with all of the trauma the kids (characters, not actors) of Riverdale have endured as a result of the writing, you would think they would cover the mental/emotional result of that as opposed to leaving it open-ended or as an excuse to promote traumatic storylines without giving cause and effect. The whole mentality that goes with being put through some of the things that they have is far from what the characters seem to be portraying and it's honestly disappointing that the writers dont have enough respect to address or properly represent such topics, they're simply brushed over or presumed to be minimally effective. Here's to hoping one day, the show will be cancelled or adequately promote more accurate welfare because the audience definitely isnt learning the right way to handle a lot of these situations. All due respect to everyone involved in the show but it's honestly ridiculous how little the writers care about accuracy and more about producing loose storylines without a foundation, fictional or not.

The first three seasons of _Riverdale_ had so much hype and publicity around it. Then the series just fell of a cliff. The ratings for seasons six and seven were atrociously bad and the S07 finale only got 170k people viewers. The fundamental problem of the series is the showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa who is batshit insane.
