A natural 9 striker REALLY suits very well with the current Milan strategy, and when you have two very experienced players such as Ibra or Giroud, that makes great wonders in the attack, i am glad to see him having such great performance in this season.

Giroud in the 2018 World Cup was phenomenal for the team. He allowed the entire team to excel offensively and defensively cause he was so good at holding off tackles and moving the ball so others could advance. Without him, not a single attacker or attacking midfielder would have so much freedom on the pitch.

As long as you have some pace in attack within the team it doesn't matter. Beckham was a wide playmaker but one of the greatest wide players of one of the greatest generations. For example you could have a number 10 that goes beyond the centre forward on the counter. Ramsey and Lampard both did that brilliantly but neither had immense pace. Quick brains trump quick legs.

With Giroud the wingers play better, but you can't deny benzema has been great for France and is more prolific then giroud

Mbappé and Haaland, two of the most promising strikers of their generation seem to only want to play for Real Madrid. Almost every strikers/players dreams to play for Real Madrid but only a few of them make it.
Benzema has been a starter in Real Madrid for more than a decade. A decade!
It's not fair to compare Giroud to Benzema. It would be like comparing Piatek (good player) to Lewandowski (world class player).
Arsene Wenger (former Giroud coach at Arsenal) was asked if Benzema should start for France. He answered that Benzema would be a starter for any team in the world.
Ask yourself if Real Madrid ever considered Giroud to replace Benzema and if any of the clubs Giroud played for would start Benzema over him.
Giroud was essential during the world cup even if he didn't score a single goal he helped his teammates to the best of his abilities and it worked out great.
That being said if any coach has to chose between Benzema and Giroud, Benzema will always start (because all the coach in the world think that putting benzema on the pitch will improve their chances to win). They are just in two different leagues (It reminded me of the time some people were against Zidane coming back from retirement to play the world cup 2006 because Dhorasoo was playing great at the time).
That's what happened in the french national team. As soon as Benzema came back, he started and before he was banned he spent a long time without scoring but he was still the starter in his coach mind. It says everything...
There never was any competition between Giroud and Benzema in any coaches mind. (you know the guys paid millions for their knowledge and experience n football).
For fans (like you) it's another story..
They could have played together though.

@@MrKLeBlanc Won't deny that Benzema and Giroud can't be compared but I asked about their importance in the national team , with Griezmann and Mbappe, Giroud is the guy suits in the run of play than Benzema, I never doubted Benzema and his importance , but there needs to be one team with 11 players not 11 best position players in one team

    • @MrKLeBlanc
      @MrKLeBlanc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@saptrishi5 Your argument doesn't work with Benzema though. Benzema is almost a playmaker. His main ability is to make his teammates shine. He can basically play with any player you throw at him. (Griezmann, Mbappé or even Giroud himself). Playing with a player like Benzema would be a dream for any striker.
For example Griezmann and Benzema "speak" the same football take a look: th-cam.com/video/7GDt2sMUR3s/w-d-xo.html
Mourinho amongts others said that Benzema was the most unselfish striker he's ever seen. Add to that that he can play in almost every postion in the front line and you get a very versatile player that could fit pretty much any system as well. Those are the reasons every coach during more than a decade that came to Madrid (and they always try to recruit the best ones in the world) put Benzema on the pitch as an undisputable starter even when he doesn't score much. Benzema is a striker that bring so much more to the table than goals.
In short every coach play with Benzema because they all think that with him on the pitch any team will play better. He is not the type of player that would be "incompatible with others" he is the one making "the others compatible". To give you an idea during the BBC era his role on the field was compared to the role of oil in an engine.
If only speaking in terms of sports, France national team will always be better with Benzema on the pitch. That's is way every French coach that had Benzema on his team played him as a starter.
Although i'll extend an olive branch by saying that outside of the sports field, the whole "blackmail incident" could have impacted the way some players felt about having Benzema on the team at the time and when a player brings bad vibes in a team .It's better to do without him even if he is the best. So i agree in specific situations a team can definitely play better without one of their best players. ( a team is not the addition of the best players)
but After what we've seen recently, it would be difficult to think that Benzema is a problem in the dressing room.
Like i wrote before Giroud and Benzema are not in direct competition and never were because they have different profiles and can play together. the competition for Giroud in the French national team is more players like Martial, Ben yedder and now Diaby. Don't fall for the opposition made by their "fanatic fans". Giroud and Benzema could have played together and they did but if a coach has to chose to build his team around Piatek or Lewandowski, he will always chose Lewandowski. It doesn't mean that Piatek and Lewandowski can't play together...
