    I didn't realise it was such a thing.I recognise my neighbours if they're in my road 9 times out of ten I don't recognise people they say hello to me forst I recognise co workers but only at work.I recognise dog walkers by their dogs .

    I have this (not an extreme case). I hate watching movies with more than a few characters. Action movies are the WORST! I hate going to the movies because I can’t rewind or ask anyone any questions.

    I got 33%. But I knew I had prosopagnosia. I actually couldn't tell the difference between the two Hilaries until she spoke. Once she spoke, I recognised her voice so I knew it was her.

    I could only tell the woman apart because you could tell the other is wearing a wig because of how messy it was and not normal shiny- also I noticed her shirt. She didn’t change her shirt. When I try to recognize people I use their voice, smell, body language, clothes, skin tone, height, accessories, and hair. For me it’s only faces I can’t register into my mind. But I can see everything else!

    • @nussknacker9827
      @nussknacker9827 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, the wig was really bad and obvious.
      I'm not sure though if the person in the wig is a man or woman.
      I thought the person in the wig as a man.
      Do you know if it was a woman or a man?

    Really? Wow...that is amazing to me...I thought everyone can recognize faces as well as I can...For example, I new everybody in my elementary school class and I moved out of the school district...5 years later I moved back into the school district and went to the local high school and recognized all my elementary school friends instantaneously...They were all older but their faces were definitely recognizable...It's interesting that not everyone is like this...

    I scored a 62 on the shit and I actually have this...It can be pretty embarrassing when you don't recognize somebody you should. But I'm just grateful I can recognize my friends, family, and myself. It could be a lot worse.

    Woah--that's really interesting.
    I've always been MUCH better at faces than names.
    I just did one of the tests and, out of 72 faces, I correctly identified 68 (94% correct)
    I'd recommend trying it.

    I guessed the one on the right was Hillary precisely because she *didn’t* smile. The one on the left was obviously trying to attract his eyes to her while Hillary was trying to appear neutral, which is something we instinctively do to anonymize ourselves and avoid getting noticed.
    I wonder if I was in his position I’d have had to make this guess, because I think he had more time to study her.

    I'm prosopagnosic, and just want to say that I loathe the term "face-blind". I'm not blind to faces, I just can't tell them apart. Please could we stop using this term: it was invented by well-meaning people who aren't themselves prosopagnosic, by analogy with dyslexia being known as "word-blindness". Let's say "prosopagnosic", not "face-blind".

    I also remembered a very pretty blonde girl I knew in elementary school, named Jessica, who deyed her hair red when I saw her 5 years later...I easily knew it was Jessica because of her face...no one else could have a face like hers...you couldn't do this?

    color movies are a bit easier follow but have to watch them several times though IMDB helps as well since it tells me the whole actor list etc..

    Out of 72 faces, you correctly identified 64.
    In other words, you got 89% correct.
    yayyyy. i tried to contribute a personality to them (like 1 looked like billy corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins, and another one looked like an (imaginary) tougher brother of bill). some of them were a lil fatter, so made them 'hungry', and so on.

  • @deadpoetoftheyear
    @deadpoetoftheyear 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have mild prosopagnosia. There are some people I would never confuse, I easily confuse a brunette with a blonde, but I would not confuse a child with an adult. And never ever would I confuse a woman and a man. I wonder in cases of severe prosopagnosia, if they put 2 people side by side of which one was male and the other female, does anyone ever get them wrong? I actually have confused a white guy with a black guy which might seem weird, but that was in a movie, not in real life.

    I found a test on test my brain and scored less than 1%. My sister and mother don't have this problem at all. My dad seems to have a hard time telling people apart when he watches movies. I don't know if that means he has it to a mild degree. I'm not sure.

    I got 97% on normal face recognition (70 out of 72) and 90% on famous faces (27 out of 30). I couldn't remember Captain Picard's last name!! (Patrick Stewart), couldn't identify Tony Blair or Rowan Atkinson. Interesting test - take it!

    • @somexp12
      @somexp12 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most can master a face with practice. A few are so bad that they can’t use the face at all and need contextual clues (like hair, voice, height), but years of familiarity can *mostly* do it for the majority.
      The issue comes when trying to recognize someone who you’re loosely familiar with. This is often the case with big wigs. I once almost told Tom Brokaw he couldn’t park somewhere, because he was just a man in a black car to me. I only ever passively watched his show, if at all, and who is he if he is not behind the desk? On another occasion, I had to meet a brigadier general, looked up his picture ahead of time, and encountered a very different looking person when we met. The meeting was between 10 and 60 minutes of me answering his questions and him critiquing me. Months later, I was in the gym with him at the same time. I was told he was there, but couldn’t pick him out because he had no rank or name on. Nerve raking.

    Hahahahaha lucky you i had 13% and that equals one face. I came here because after having been subscribed for over a year to the youtube channels vsauce and vsauce2, i suddenly realized both were moderated by different people. There was this one occasion where i didnt recognize 4 guys i had been working with for 1 entire month and saw them every day, simply because we met in a different environment (town instead of jungle, long story)

    Do some research and talk to a doctor. It's never a good idea to take a survey and diagnose yourself, and it's really not a good idea to try to fight another's diagnoses. But the 4 weeks thing I can identify with. I was acquainted with a guy I saw every other day for a year in his work clothes, and one day he showed up dressed casually with a haircut and he started talking to me about my personal stuff. I asked my friend who the guy was. He told me about proso and I looked into it.

    Reason is: guilt feeling, shame and fear. You prefer remain hidden by not looking at faces. If you dont look straight at faces you cannot record. You didn´t record you can´t remember.
    You can release these 3 emotions with mental therapy and revert the situation.

    • @lizzybaker6868
      @lizzybaker6868 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The opposite of being face blind is being a super recogniser and by not remembering names just faces is not being a super recogniser at all. If you search on TH-cam super-recogniser you can watch videos about people who are really super recognisers and how they can remember the face and name of a celebrity as a child or remember people that they sore briefly years ago.
      I'm not just aiming this at you but - I really hate the comments people put up on documentaries like : I must be one of them or I'm the opposite because they have NO idea what it's actually like to have this problem that they are claiming to have or have the opposite of.
      😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
