Love the title! Dang, was just saying this today. Skill-gap is rarely about natural talent. For the majority of us players its a time/knowledge gap. Learn your matchups. Practice your fundamentals. Be honest with yourself and test your limits. If you're putting in that time and effort- you will never notice how good you are; just where you wanna be next. That's what makes a good PvPer.
Well said mate....yes ping and feeling a little out of place bc of all these YT and twitchers boasting...we do get to think we aint no good, so yeah, stick in there mate :)
NEW PLAYERS READING THIS: Dont let people discourage you with negativity, just keep grinding and show them how to improve! haters gon hate you can get good with practice! YES DUDE. Huge props for making this video people need to realize its not that easy! You have to be patient with yourself and willing to get REKT a few times to learn wtf is up. Every patch the meta changes a little so having CURRENT knowledge and basic understanding of every weapons combo is a good start.
Thanks for the pep talk, haha. For real - i'm new to the game and have been getting dunked on in OPR, but am learning and seeing progress. I'd love to see some videos on countering other loadouts like you mentioned in this video. Really liking the content, thanks for putting these videos together.
Funny thing is I do suck at it in New World. But with time and patience with myself I have learned that New World brings is something very new. I have gotten a lot better with time. With the instant gratification of the thought process of today has been my biggest obstacle. Appreciate the video and the words of wisdom once again. One thing I have learned is that having a teammate is a good thing and a way to bounce ideas off of. Please keep the videos coming!!!!
Love these vids. One thing I learned is that you can’t expect other people in your team to know what you’re thinking. Sometimes you have to communicate even when your teammates don’t want to. It sucks when you set up a beautiful grav and everyone around you is just chasing down one person. It would be dope if they made it so that all your teammates could hear you instead of just your 5 man at least in opr.
Nah if everyone can hear everyone in OpR it would be a mess. What they need is an opportunity to make raids (I still don’t understand why they haven’t add that feature because even on chest runs shit becomes annoying when ppl do different things) and maybe only a raid leader could talk to everybody
Wow glad I discovered your videos, doing a great job! I am wondering where you got that helmet? it looks awesome but did not come across it. would love to get it too!
Funny you just posted this vid... I'm new to the game fresh 60. I have wanted to quit so many times out of frustration. I also have spent countless times respecing, weapons scores are all around 10-14 because of it. Unfortunalty, especially in 3v3 even with a lot of con in light i just seem to melt. Like you said one hit basically can get you in a lot of trouble. If i were to have a question for you regarding builds. What suggestions would you have for something that is well rounded enough to survive long enough in pvp, but also continue to do pve/content? Furthermore, how much con should a player learning pvp have? Sadly i had to go from an int build at times back to str/dex hatchet and GS just to keep progressing the quest line. Anyhow, you make it looks so easy, and the details you pick up on are unparallel. Thank you for the content you have helped me and im sure others out more than you know... Kept me from just not wanting to pvp at all. Which is the whole reason i wanted to play the game.
The thing about survivability in this game is regardless of your armor weight or build in this game if you don't have your dodges down (and that means spending time pvping so you know what things to actually dodge on weapons and what their threats are) then you won't survive regardless of build. My biggest suggestion is to run whatever you find fun, light with whatever weapons you like, and use PVE to practice dodge timings and combos and stuff like that. I was gunna do a video on it soon and go a bit more in depth but PVE can be a very effective way to get base things down in pvp like timings and stuff. POI's with alot of regular enemies is generally how I practice my combos and things. 150 con is what you need to have regardless of any build imo but if you're a fresh 60 the thing I'd be doing right now is literally throw on whatever gear and put on ability that you like and start doing some PVE solo quests or faction quests. Even area's like Svikin's stand in great cleave or just below that are great places to get familiar with dodge and how to sustain it, because with 4-7 mobs on you if you mess up your dodge or movement you will die to the mobs haha so it helps you learn movement in the game
@@DanzoPVP hey man thank you for the input I really appreciate it. A couple things I did that really helped was correct gems and gear with reduction damage as well. And yea I think I got little over 150 con now. Little think I noticed you doing as well which I’m trying to do. You almost never dodge the direction you are running. Like dodge back thru the opposite way. Or be running right and dodge left. That alone makes a big different. I really like the rapier but I feel the skill ceiling is high, especially the intellect, bleed build and I could be wrong, but it doesn’t seem all that great compared to other weapons for solo PVE. I’m trying to avoid the great sword, but it is so dang good right now. Thanks again man. Very helpful and I look forward to future videos. You are doing a great service for the dog water rookies lol
I've been playing for around 9 months now, and I feel like I'm still bad at it even though I have done a considerable amount of it. I always feel like I'm lacking in damage while also being extremely squishy, and I can never figure out why
Took a year off, came back recently with the expac announcement started running opr and my gear is pretty stacked with most being bis. Running bow spear and firestaff rapier. Absolutely getting slaughtered plus doing noodle dmg. Needless to say this video was amazing info.
Honest question, how much does gear expertise play a factor? I just hit 60 and my average gear score is 515. I melt in seconds, even in heavy armor. Is it my gear against players with 600 gear score?
You also need the right gems in your armor/weapon/jewels and don’t ask me which gems are the best because it’s different for everyone’s build I’m still tryna figure it out 😂😂😂
Hey Danzo, I’m new to the channel and I’m not sure what your knowledge is on these kind of things but could you do a video on what names rapiers are best (specifically for your rapier/great sword build but others would be cool to know about as well) I know crafted bis is the way to go usually but on fresh start servers and for a noob like me named legendaries you can farm seem to be the best immediate option.
I believe we already spoke about this tonight right :P But it’s actually the opposite, don’t get caught up too much with rarity MOST of my equipment on my builds was purple for a long long time untill I was sure of how I wanted to run the builds. It’s super hard to find the right 3 perk weapon for builds often times 2 perk purples are BIS solely because people list them for so low as they aren’t gold, and they more than get the job done :)
@@DanzoPVP thought your schedule said you weren’t streaming yesterday haha but gotcha. So just pick and use a purple weapon and armor with the main traits until I can afford a gold. I’m thanks for the help. Time to go get smashed in PvP for the first time
Love trying the ig/rapier build but seriously struggling with current meta. Bows, muskets and great swords ruin every fight i'm in. Nearing 43 tracks so i have some opr's under my belt. Come to your vids for tips but it's been a struggle not switching back to musket/rapier just to avoid getting dunked constantly. Always willing to learn, will keep coming to watch and may see you on the field!
The thing to keep in mind is you're playing not only the hardest weapon in the game, but one of the toughest weapon combos for it. I may make it look easier than it is but its after probably tens of thousands of fights at this point so take your time!
@@DanzoPVP Appreciate the perspective on that. It definitely feels like an uphill battle but I love the aesthetic of the build. In the end you're probably right and just need to get a lot more fights in. Also, preference ice shower vs storm? I find it easier to deal with bow users with storm but shower is so nice for the lockdown kill potential.
@@EmberPsycho Aha you're learning already! thats the big trade off, shower has alot higher and more "consistent" dps assuming you land it but it has a longer cooldown and exactly bow or ranged in general becomes annoying to deal with. I started out with shower on the build and it has its uses but storm is just better overall since it covers more bases, can deal with ranged and melee opponents :)
@@DanzoPVP Haha one lesson at a time and will get there! Cool that we're at the same conclusion. Will stick with storm and keep hustling. Thanks for the info friend
This is a great video and so well timed. Played until level 58 first time round but fresh servers I am 60 with GS around 550. But PvP is still tough. Learning the moves and the weapons that my enemies have. Skill cap is tough - this is my first MMO but as a fairly high level gamer in other tough games like Tarkov I am competitive and determined to get better. But I can not help but think the difference in GS from 500-600 feels insane. But, that might just be me huffing copium as I learn. I am doing better day by day at Arena and outpost, utilising my Rapier and secondary. Still determined to make Tondo bleed build work but until I get end game gear I feel its not worth the lack of utility by skipping out on Evade/Riposte. Stuns were my ultimate death - get stunned and be dead before getting out of it. Now I am much much better, so thank you for these videos, I learn a lot. Often I watch multiple times at slow speeds to understand your button combos. Which leads me to a question - are you using default keys? I struggle with the defaults - hitting WASD and Q or R or whatever seems really unnatural - do you have some changes you recommend? Thanks again as always man!
Thank you! The expertise gap 100% makes a difference anyone is lying if they say otherwise, but the main thing I've been trying to say about that is you're going to be 1000x better off just practicing pvp basics now even though it'll feel impossible vs. STARTING to pvp for the first time once you have your expertise leveled up. But you're onto the right ideas already my man, and yes the blood build, and the rapier in general are higher skill ceiling choices to go for in pvp but the experience you're gaining now is invaluable. In terms of keybinds the only thing I've changed is put my weapon swap onto my mouse button, but other than that everything is default, for some reason Im weird or something haha but it has just worked out and felt fine to me. In the previous mmo I played the abilities defaulted to 1-5 so maybe give that a shot? and maybe rebind the potions to something else?
Loving your video’s danzo! I’ve been working on my pvp recently. I really enjoy sword and board but My experience is I get out damaged and out tanked in almost all my fights. It would be amazing if you could do a basic pvp gear set guide. Best perks and damage mitigation sets for the current meta.
Im still updating the gear for this patch but all of my build videos (in my new world builds playlist) are where I direct people even though they're "old" because builds in this game are more than just the items you are wearing :) I go in depth on HOW to actually use all of my builds and tips for them but once I get all of my builds updated I'll have a single video that everyone can go to, to see the gear updates
Really nice video, but what do you do in a ranged heavy meta, where you show your face and instantly get hit by 3 arrows a random musket and some firestaff? :) cant seem to get around that and the very long sightlines in opr are scary.
Biggest key to success in PvP is the first thing you said. Understanding all of the weapons and what they all do is how you do well in PvP. This will allow you to read your opponents and keep you a step ahead of the enemy.
Thanks for your videos, Its very interesting see your duels. One question, how you practice? And Im having a blast trying your paladin but I have a problem with high ping because I recently move from europe, Can I go medium armor or you reccomend another weapon for a noob with 200 of ping? thanks :)
My first 3 matches. I had a total of 2 kills... My last match I had 9. Definitely a big adjustment getting use to PvP in this game. At this point, I'm just trying to consume all the knowledge I can to get better.
My biggest problem is that i dont do any dmg in pvp even if i have lot lff dmg on the weapon in atribute screen. i feel like i hit with paper and when i get hit i just dissapear to the oblivion instantly i dont know what i do wrong :/(
Very, very, very good way at describing people who are meh at PvP. I also wish people had this mindset. I'm ALWAYS flagged even if I get curb stomped haha
Hey man, I love the rapier but I have an issue with it and not sure if you can help. When I use the riposte and someone hits me and I go to stun them, people can **always** with 100% certainty dodge roll out of the stun part and not receive any punishment. I am UK but play on NA (friends) and I am not sure if that's just how riposte works, if I can do something to prevent it, or if it is the ping causing it. Currently it's the only thing stopping me from playing the weapon so I would love any help!
That’s how it’s supposed to work. People have an opportunity to dodge out of it so it’s best to use it while the opponent is locked in an animation or out of stamina
You should check out my rapier guide, but yes even before the nerf to riposte there was a window of time that you have to dodge out of parry. The idea is you wanna use it into high percentage situations, or ones where the opponent CANNOT dodge. I go over everything on the rapier in depth in my guide but if you use parry in a situation where the opponent is locked into an animation that they cannot dodge out of: such as perforate, shockwave, maelstrom, whirlwind, vault kick, ANY long animation or multi hitting ability can be parried with pretty much 100% success. You can still land parries into light attacks and stuff if you take a look at 6:00 but that comes with practice, in that situation theres a ton of stuff going on to where the opponent can't even see the parry thats coming out.
@@DanzoPVP Alright, thanks a bunch. Going to stick with rapier and try to get good, gonna watch your guide rn. Can you comment on Blood vs Grace tree? In all the videos I have seen so far you play grace rapier, so I would assume it's stronger. Want to know your thoughts on the bleed build though. :)
Thoughts on flourish and finish instead of riposte? Both parts stagger and it’s amazing to stagger many enemies and to chase players. I find riposte isn’t that great but I do see the benefits when you land it.
@@mopzillauk Grace isn't stronger or weaker it just covers way more weak areas overall for builds (mobility, defense) the blood tree is 100% offense with 0 defensive capabilities so you just need to be aware of that when making builds and choosing what weapon to pair with the rapier. I use grace more because its just more fun to me personally. I've played multiple games that have a riposte ability or mechanic and fleche is not only a super strong mobility ability but can setup burst as well, but the grace tree is much much harder to get consistent and kill potential damage. Pros and Cons to both :)
Life staff / Rapier has been a build in the game since launch pretty much, rapier is a strong defensive weapon because of riposte and it's mobility, def not as much as before because of the nerfs, but has been a pretty popular setup. I don't heal though so im sure theres build guides you could find on it :)
It's just practice my friend :) As i've mentioned I've spent over a year practicing my builds and playstyle, and EVEN longer than that in all of other games I've played in the past as 1vxing or whatever you wanna call it is how I like to play any game if its possible. There's some random tips I could say that might help in specific matchups and stuff depending on the player you're fighting but for the most part being aware of it and actively thinking about it and trying to practice it in fights over time is the only way to get better
In my builds playlist :) gear update will be soon but the build isn't just gear I go in depth on how to use it and my mindset behind everything, and the gear in the vid is still viable
100% just have fun playing this game. Just started fresh start server. Wife and Play flagged almost 100% of the time. Just hit level 38. Have we been ganked by groups 30-40 levels above us? Sure. But not much consequence to loosing pvp so it doesn't matter, and the fights increase the suspense a bit.
Yes. The way I see it. If you do not have AT LEAST 625 PvP-Worth gear (meaning, not necessarily BiS but at least no PvE-Only perks), ... you have no place at the front of any kind of actual fight. ... That is one thing that almost everybody that speaks about this topic likes to forget to mention. Because if you do not have the appropriate gear. You will be, as you said, 2-3 shotted with a Rapier while your Battle-Axe will still need 5 heavy swings to kill. Unwinnable. ... Not to mention that you actually need a few very specific buff-consumables ... all in all ... the PvP in NW is ... questionable.
Your build and dueling people or just fighting people more often only way to get better. Also learning what other weapons and builds can do so you know what to expect when fighting them
Good video, excatly a lot of new players in pvp, play really static there is no dynamic in their actions, their moves are really obvious, players with 600-700 hours can easily read what they will do next with no knowledge about their oponent builds. There is something like build good against everything, you can always meet your counter build and you will lose and it does not mean you are weak, you can always try but there are builds when sometimes is just better give up fight or take this fight only when is no way to get out..
100%! That's a super important thing to point out I think alot of people are looking for builds that work agaisnt everything which just isn't the case!
Depends on the build, im running shirking fort on blademaster, freedom on this. Blademaster is a full melee setup where im getting hit constantly, vs. rapier/ice where I'm not always in melee range and I have entomb and cc's to help me not get hit as much. Obviously it you'd want gold pieces that have both if you can get it but NOTHING in the game in my opinion is best overall for everyone. All depends on so many things, your build, how you play, how many people you play with, where you actually pvp etc.
It's an invincibility frame. All dodges and some abilities provide you with it and all it is, is a duration of time where you are invincible to damage. That's how you're able to dodge through an ability and not take damage or get stunned, because during the dodge your character has an active invincibility frame
u dont suck at dieting your just not eating less yet. u dont suck at the gym Your just not going to one yet. you dont suck at driving you just havent learned to stop running people over yet. XD sorry the title is funny

Do you have this Rapier/IG build somewhere?
I have a new world builds playlist :)
How many average gear score do you have in this video? I have just 510 and my damage is not much like you :(
Hey man, I love the rapier but I have an issue with it and not sure if you can help.
Pros and Cons to both :)
good morning mate.
i want to know if Rapier / Healz build is a good thing to roll in pvp... i just trying figure out
Life staff / Rapier has been a build in the game since launch pretty much, rapier is a strong defensive weapon because of riposte and it's mobility, def not as much as before because of the nerfs, but has been a pretty popular setup. I don't heal though so im sure theres build guides you could find on it :)
Do a search for "a pocket healer's guide to pvp" on youtube. Noodles' video covers pretty much everything :)
@@potatovision thank you :)
is this build still ok for the fresh servers? im kinda new to the game, but every1 tells me icegauntlet is bad, so i dont know
can u make a stamina usage video u have it under control very good
It's just practice my friend :) As i've mentioned I've spent over a year practicing my builds and playstyle, and EVEN longer than that in all of other games I've played in the past as 1vxing or whatever you wanna call it is how I like to play any game if its possible. There's some random tips I could say that might help in specific matchups and stuff depending on the player you're fighting but for the most part being aware of it and actively thinking about it and trying to practice it in fights over time is the only way to get better
Can you explain what Iframe is
immunity frame
Basically it's dodging before the stun smacks ya
Do you have a build video?
In my builds playlist :) gear update will be soon but the build isn't just gear I go in depth on how to use it and my mindset behind everything, and the gear in the vid is still viable
Not only do I suck at pvp, but I also dont have gear / weapon lvl :D. Great video!
In due time my friend :) and thank you!
Does gear score matter? I’m 550 and I get 2-3 shotted by people. Full resil gear too lol
As someone that’s still practicing haven’t watched the video yet but great title I also think players need to find a build that works for them
100%!
Freedom > Shirkin Fort?
Depends on the build, im running shirking fort on blademaster, freedom on this. Blademaster is a full melee setup where im getting hit constantly, vs. rapier/ice where I'm not always in melee range and I have entomb and cc's to help me not get hit as much. Obviously it you'd want gold pieces that have both if you can get it but NOTHING in the game in my opinion is best overall for everyone. All depends on so many things, your build, how you play, how many people you play with, where you actually pvp etc.
2k hrs and fire & ice still feels bad.. :D
Been playing on and off since launch about 500+ hours and today was my first time doing pvp and man I’m dog shit😂
cool
I was literally just saying this to myself last night. 😮
I hear you say in all your videos. What is an ?
It's an invincibility frame. All dodges and some abilities provide you with it and all it is, is a duration of time where you are invincible to damage. That's how you're able to dodge through an ability and not take damage or get stunned, because during the dodge your character has an active invincibility frame
@@DanzoPVP thank you so much! Your videos are outstanding by the way.
First tip : have gear, even if you're a god at pvp if you're not gear you're useless
Amen.
Oh and a side note, funny but serious. If you suck at dodge rolls go pick up Elden Ring and put in some hours. lol
u dont suck at dieting your just not eating less yet. u dont suck at the gym Your just not going to one yet. you dont suck at driving you just havent learned to stop running people over yet.

His title is about as funny as your comment is valid, substantiated and useful.
