- The flop brings a queen and two nines, giving Dietrich Fast top set. He checks, as does Sam Soverel in the small blind. The turn is the ace of clubs, and Soverel bets. Fast calls, and the river completes the board with the seven of hearts. Soverel fires again and Fast shrugs and mucks his hand face up. It's a tough break for Fast, but that's poker sometimes. As they say, "queen on the turn." Anthony Spinella will be out in 6th place if he doesn't catch a king or a jack on the river. Let's see how this plays out!

I agree with Alex. I think it shouldn't be forbidden to say your hand in the middle of a game (wether real or joking) to put pressure on your opponent, after all, it's a mental game and concentration is necessary to win.

can someone explain the final play? did Dietrich win because he had a bigger kicker? or bcuz mike had to used his pair of eights?
Dietrich won, table paired with jacks and both had aces on hand so the two pairs of mike (AA&88) weren't good enough because there was a bigger second pair (jacks), therefore mike uses his 8 as a kicker while Dietrich uses his 9 as a kicker, peeping mike, absolute masterclass by Dietrich the whole tournament.

I wouldn't mind allowing players to talk about their hands if its heads up. As long as it isn't being done in a way calculated to team up against another player, it could be a fun addition to the banter.

It comes down to the 5th card in each of their hands: AA JJ 8 < AA JJ 9
The 1 orbit penalty makes no sense bc the player can actually benefit from “not losing” while the others can go broke and lose the tournament. They should assess half the chips or something meaningful. This guy sits out on punishment - and makes money!

New in poker, can someone tell me how the Jack makes him win?
The Jack on the river gave them both two pair with Aces and Jacks, which negated the pair of eights, so the higher card, the 9 won

I do not understand the split pot, if both players have the identical cards then OK but if one has a Ace-8 and the other a Ace-9, I see a winner not a tie or split pot ! But guess that is why I'm not a poker player !
Your actual hand is the best 5 card hand that is made between your hand and the shared pool of cards
So if the board pairs and higher cards come out that are higher than the kickers the players will split the pot

If a player has A2 and one with A3, and none of them pair up, you think A3 should win the hand? Do you think it will always end up as a tie because neither one of them paired up and they basically have the two lowest cards in the deck? Since neither one of them paired up, the community cards must be higher than both the 2 and 3, think about it.
Going through an example like the one above, you will understand the game better and become aware of the possibilities to this great game.
