Favorite Kokanee lake huh? Boy that’s a tough one but if I had to choose I’d say Lake Samish in Whatcom County just South of Bellingham. Yet another great video. Every time you post a new video…I learn something new. I’ll turn 70 this year and I’m proof that you really can teach and old dog new tricks…lol Keep the videos coming please!
I love fishing Odell Lake it's has long time fisher people and it's become a community - I stay all summer & many spend a month, some two months so again you know the folks fishing the lake with you and you are communicating and being social boat to boat and camp to camp
Love fishing Timothy now the size is better!! I love watching your videos. One thing I have started doing for spacing with the hoochies is put one bead up in the hoochie and a bobber stop between the bead and the hooks that way you can adjust how far the hooks are behind the hoochie (helps if the kokes are short biting)! Hope your health continues to get better and keep cranking out the videos.
It was tough, very tough, Cavanaugh. Patterson is a very close, might surpass by summers end. Hopefully you are feeling better, and your videos are very informative. Learning a lot from you.
Fort Spokane on lake Roosevelt.. been tying my own hoochies as per your videos. Seems the rainbows like them better than the Kokanee. Maybe there's no Kokanee in that area. Love and subscribe to your videos. You're a good man Tyler
Patterson. They aren't huge but they are plentiful. Plus, its the only lake I've caught kokanee on, but I've caught them both through the ice and trolling. Hard to believe there was almost 18" of ice on Patterson last week. Have you noticed any differences ice fishing when the ice is that thick?
very nice, I would like to try something other thank chartreuse and pink at Strawberry so I'll go with your suggestion, thanks for your insightful presentation,
@@spiltmilt Thanks - all the pictures I see show the bill pointing down but haven't been able to see an in the water video. What about baits that have the bill molded inot the lure body
I've enjoyed your videos , great detail, you seem to have valuable proven knowledge from experience please keep up the great job your doing I like fishing kalamalka lake in the beautiful okanagan valley of British Columbia Canada. Take care and God bless Wayde Gilbank
Great Channel!! Glad I come across it and Subscribed! Im not too far from your neck of the woods, I fish Kootenay Lake here near Creston BC. Just got my fishing kayak, and am going to try your setups!! I havent caught my first KAyak trolling fish yet!
Would beads from a place like Michael's, or Hobby Lobby, work? I'm wanting to get into tying up my own Kokanee gear, after watching several of your videos on the topic. I'm wanting to tie hoochie and beaded spinner rigs. But, I'll be starting out on a tight budget. I'm just wondering, needing to buy several sizes, of varying colors, would buying from a hobby store be beneficial?
Michael. I was worried about the beads too when I started tying up my own. But honestly look into 'Bobber stops'. Supper affordable and just all around easier to deal with. Less weight than beads too so it won't affect the action as much either.
Hi Tyler! Great stuff as always. Can you run the Wiggle Hoochie 2 feet back of a Dodger for trout as well? Thought I'd try it for Henry Hagg Lake. Thanks Tyler! Fish on! Mark
Question- if you’ve fished Oregon lakes for Kokanee what lake would be your “ go to” spot ? If you haven’t which might you recommend for a guy just getting started Kokanee fishing?
There are a lot of quality Kokanee lakes in Oregon. Wickiup for big fish. Green Peter has lots of fish. My favorite place in Lake Billy Chinook simply for the scenery, quality kokanee, and you can catch big Bull Trout too.
Paulina Peak tackle . Yeah I ordered some stuff and the hoochies had the most beginner , generic and worst knots I ever had come in pre packaged gear . Sloppy .
Cristopher Nostim that is sad to hear, when Brent had Paulina Peak Tackle his stuff was always first class, but as you probably know he sold out. Hopefully just a glitch in new management. I have caught a lot of fish on their tackle and need more stuff so I hope for NO problems !!
Steve Pederson it really surprised me because I have seriously never heard anything bad . I have always heard and read great reviews about Paulina Peak . Hope it gets cleared up .

My favorite lakes in eastern WA are Roosevelt and Loon. You provide awesome detailed information. Love your videos.
Lake Devereaux, Mason County as well. Glad you're out of the hospital. Hope to see you on the water again soon.
Thanks bud!

Grew up fishing kokanee on riffe lake! Will always be my favorite.
Those are Coho not Kokanee

I fish mostly Lake Tahoe in calif, I am relatively new to your channel. Very good info and I really enjoy the comparisons you do
Lake Berryessa in northern California. Thanks for the videos, always learn a lot.
Have you tried using a bobber stop and a bead for your hoochie bodies? That is how I rigged mine for Lake Stevens and Lake Cavanaugh
I've not but sounds like a great idea.
@@spiltmilt give it a shot. It allows you to adjust your rig without having to retie, especially on short strikes
Have you tried using a treble hook for the trailer or stinger hook? That's what I use.
Yes I get better landing ratios with single hooks
Excellent info on all videos,,, Starting to fish Lake Coeur d' Alene THANKYOU

More Kokanee from Lincoln on down

Thanks for the great video my favorite Lake is shaver Lake California
Merwin. And are you using a surgeon's loop in lieu of a swivel to connect to the dodger?
Correct surgeon's loop.
Long lake Spokane. Great vid your a great teacher and fisherman.
Do you ever have coupon codes for Paulina Peak Tackle
No I don't sorry.
Alder Lake out by Eatonville....22.5"
I really like the staggered hook set up going to have to try that going to Strawberry 🍓 in the morning my personal favorite
very nice, I would like to try something other thank chartreuse and pink at Strawberry so I'll go with your suggestion, thanks for your insightful presentation,
thanks for all your videos, great job.
What do you think about tying your 2 hooks with braid then putting on a mono leader? American lake, but Merwin is moving up in a hurry.
I've done that for Kokanee flies. Its works.
do you like hoochies over wedding bands? which is a good overall?
I prefer hoochies or microhoochies over everything else.
I tried some wiggle blades placed the bill downward but the bill keeps turning up. Any ideas
That is how it is supposed to run.
@@spiltmilt Thanks - all the pictures I see show the bill pointing down but haven't been able to see an in the water video. What about baits that have the bill molded inot the lure body
11 mile reservoir in Colorado my favorite Kokanee fishing hole
Barb Koos is the winner!
How important is it to run a double hook set up on your hoochies cause I have a bunch from Shasta tackle with just one hook?
I'd say pretty important for better landing ratios
Enjoy your videos and fishing for kokes on Lake Chelan.

Lake Kokanee in Mason County. Thanks gor all the great info!
Lake Devereaux, Mason County. Thanks for the video!
Do you need to tie on 2 hooks if the lake you fish does not allow bait?
You don’t need to but it can’t hurt
how do you keep the plastic beads from melting inside the Hoochie?
I’ve never had that issue
Blue Masa on the Gunnison
When measuring leader for Kokanee hoochies, do you measure from the eye of the top hook or the bend of the bottom hook? Merwin!
Top of the hook
Have you tried circle hooks for kokanee rigs
No and wouldn’t think they would work
Pardee Lake will be our first Kokanee trip :)

What about 15lb line? Downside to a bit heavier line? Thanks. Love the channel!!
Nothing wrong with 15 lb.
That's so cool love your work I love to fish I like the green Smiley Blade with the mini hoochies peace out
great video ,Anderson Ranch
I noticed some beads melt or react with the hoochie over time, any suggestions on that?
I haven't had that issue but you could always slide the hoochie up off the beads when storing them on leader spools to avoid contact.
Never actually caught a kokanee yet but ive always gone to Stampede Reservoir
Great video! Merwin
Hi Tyler! Great stuff as always. Can you run the Wiggle Hoochie 2 feet back of a Dodger for trout as well? Thought I'd try it for Henry Hagg Lake. Thanks Tyler! Fish on! Mark
Yes I recommend giving wiggle bills some space
Well the only lake I’ve caught Kokanee in is Lake Washington while trolling for coho so I guess Lake Washington.
Another great video! Well done.
Tyee Lake.
Do I need to a weight, for the hoochies are light?! Anyone? Also, I am fishing in a river, not a still pond or lake.
I'll be on Merwin Res.
Lake Coeur dAlene in Idaho -
Great job - keep it up !!!
