    When he thought of the teacher to describe her, he genuinely smiled.
    This really touched my heart. Teachers are angels in this world ❤ may she rest in peace and may her family, friends and students find strength to overcome this tragic loss.

      That’s what I was thinking! Notice he mentions her urging him to get to class on time and that when he asked questions she wouldn’t make him feel dumb! She sounds like a wonderful teacher!! This is a terrible thing that happened.

      @@johnbeebe4036 This is great advice! Tetris and anything involving sorting. If you give someone a task immediately post trauma vs. forcing them to sit and wait, it'll help remove them from that helpless mindset that can trigger PTSD. The task can be something as simple as sorting cups for young children

Sure, we can not have guns in the house in kids and parents can do their best to steer their kids in the right direction but at the end of the day, kids grow up to be their own persons making their own choices/decisions. Trying to shield your child from the world/dangers can also have devastating consequences.

      All they do is ask if any kids want to talk about what happened and their parents have to consent. It's important for people to know what happened at the ground level from the people that were there so we don't feel disconnected from it as "just another shooting." Can't believe that's a phrase I have to type out tbh

      The anchor didn’t even sound concerned. She was reading the questions, even the condolences didn’t sound sincere. You could see the kid at the end start to get that.

    Man these poor kids! I survived the las vegas shooting as an adult and it still haunts me, 7 years later..i cannot imagine going though that as a teenager...i hope these kids all get some help to work though their grief

    I'm glad he had her as a teacher, something he said. She never made me feel dumb. That was so important, I had a math teacher who always made me feel dumb. Math wasn't my strong subject. History was and still is to this day. I'm so sorry for Issac. He really started to reflect on the impact of all of this. Our children deserve better. Someone has some explaining to do.

    Folks please don't take the focus off of the parents. After the kid was visited by the FBI a year ago the guns should have locked up and the parenting emphasized. Teachers are not responsible for raising our kids. They are overworked, outnumbered(overcrowded classrooms, underpaid, and not supported by the administration.

      The FBI investigating him after threats?, guns should have been confiscated. I hope that the FBI will go back to revisit any other school threats so that this mistake is NEVER made again! (Just wondering 🤔 if the family was BLACK how would the FBI handled this?!)

    This is my nephew. I am still shaken up. It is hard for him to get over this, but we are trying our best to give him all the support he needs to get through it. Please keep all parents and children in your thoughts and prayers. it is not an easy experience.

    Those broke me to see this young man talk about this. When he said “ I didn’t think that would be the last time I talk to her.” The pain of something like this is ever lasting. My thoughts and prayers to that young man and all the people affected by this tragedy.

    How she was concerned earlier about his nausea and you can tell she was a kind lady and wanted his students to successfully learn and they were okay. I imagine she will be miss and heartbreaking for her family, friends, staff , students and the community. I heard very positive about the personality of the other teacher too that was an assistant coach.

    Great Interview! Thanks for allowing our youth to be seen, heard, and felt. Their voices do matter! They are the future. I love the way he gave a real, heart-felt account of his teacher and the atmosphere at the school. As an educator, I can tell you that this is a loving, learning environment.

      No these are the voices we need to hear. Not some curated press release from somebody who sits behind a desk. These children go through this and we need to see their emotions and create change. Be stricter on these clowns that carry this out. Hear the voices of the people affected so it puts pressure on whoever needs to see it

      @@bsharp1533 How many of those reporters follow up with these children to see how they’re doing, after having interviewed them immediately after a shooting, rhetorical question. My comment comes from the lens of a psychologist, there’s a psychological debriefing and healing process that should occur, especially with children, that interviewer needs to ensure the space created fosters psychological safety.

      how about the fact that I didn’t even know it happened and maybe this creates an attachment to the situation as a viewer to speak up and finally make change. What exactly are we getting put of complaining about a reporter giving awareness’s to this whole situation? AGAIN, the kid is never going to think of this interview again in the ways he will be thinking of his teacher who got shot and classmates who died and hearing those shots ring off. When is change going to happen you want to silence the world from seeing how this affects our children? Then change will never be made. Your all too sensitive and too stupid. Worried about all the wrong things acting like this kids not going to be able to sleep at night from a few questions.     Why do people think this kid didn’t voluntarily chose to be interviewed? This kid is genuine and his voice lets us understand the value of that teachers worth and those that passed away. But no everyone is too busy looking for a reason to complain about something smh

    It was so brave of him to be able to speak about Ms.Irimie and how she helped him understand Algebra better in only a few short weeks school has been back in session. I hope there are plenty of counselors on hand to help everyone. Once the initial shock wears off, there will be so many feelings and emotions to deal with.

    Everyone can come at Gail but the real problem is not interviews -- the problem is that school shootings and mass shootings are a fact of life in our country. In the 30 years since Columbine we have not done enough as a nation to stop mass shootings and the proliferation of weapons of war. Bless this young man and the tribute he gave to his teacher.

    I understand the criticism toward interviewing these kids on one hand. On the other hand, I feel like it's important to hear what they have to say. It's important that their love be conveyed and to see that real people are being deeply affected by this and to be able to feel their grief and mourn with them. Such a good kid, and I'm so sorry for what he went through. It's not always easy to find a teacher so patient and caring.

    These people are traumatized. Leave them alone. I actually saw a reporter stop a mother running to the school to see if her child was alive or not. As a parent I thought that was incredibly inappropriate. How do you think they feel? You’re a bunch of ambulance chasers. Real tv journalism is gone. There are other situations you should be following and covering but you avoid them the best you can. You say what you are told word for word. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.

    Not the same thing obviously but when I was maybe in 2nd, 3rd grade my gym coach had a heart attack and passed away the night before we went back to school and I will never forget that. I will never forget what that did to us kids and I can’t imagine this

    The young man is brave and brilliant for dealing with his trauma, telling wonderful stories about his teachers and friend, which in fact is what is helping him to heal from his own trauma.
