    Had the same experience. I hate it so much when I try to be honest to my parents but they immediately saw it as an attack against them, reacted just like Abishola

      I mean, I'd get if she was against him getting a tattoo or a piercing, but a very normal/tame haircut? Why do some parents try to limit their childrens' expression so much?

      That last sentence, that's where you're wrong because we were all trained that way. Growing up as a Nigerian boy, 17 years and even above my mum still controlled my haircut and dressings then. This helps us grow up being morally upright and it doesn't scare us away at all. Whenever we remember those things, it makes us love our parents more.

      @@ifeanyichukwufavour7821 I hate the very idea of my parents controlling what I do, who I marry, etc, after I'm already a self-sufficient adult. Asian, African, and Latin American parents have this stereotype. In these culture, elders usually have such a bloated sense of entitlement. I mean, they sure have wisdom to share, but they act as if they are infallible and people younger than them have to put up with their bullshit.

      She is old enough and she is female. That is a Nigerian logic. No male in my family would dare do that at that age, it would be the end of you if you dare. You’d tell your story from the great beyond

      It's a perspective thing. You can't always cuddle a child into greatness. Our Nigerian parents whooped our asses but at the end of the day, we know it all stemmed from love and certain values were instilled in us due to this

    Honestly abishola has a bad attitude and she’s rude and u greatful, Nigerian woman aren’t like this. I got so upset in S2e5 when she returned the stuffs Bob gave dele, saying “my son doesn’t need any of your garbage”. And went on to insult Bob and his family

      In Africa Males are expected to look like males with skin or low cut. She is just so conservative. And most time African kids bares their mother’s brunt. But they are loved.
