He is so modest thinking he would tank the show.
He was the highlight of it, especially last season - he was simply great.

That's like saying Marlon Brando was humble because he thought the Godfather was bad and didn't even learn his lines. He read them from a board.
Or Zwarzenegger is humble because be thought Terminator was a ridiculous movie.
It has nothing to do with being humble.

Tbh I kinda felt bad for all the other actors and the show’s creators/directors when he was talking about how terrible he thought it was. It’s a bit self-obsessed to imagine that the success of the show would ride on your performance, especially when you had an established actress like Winona Ryder in the cast and all those bloody amazing kids.

I've seen him and other cast members in interviews, and I think this account was a bit exaggerated. In reality, the cast, crew, writers, and Netflix execs were excited about Stranger Things. When Netflix greenlighted the project, they told the Duffer brothers that they weren't going to advertise it at all, but that didn't mean that they didn't believe in it. The cast really put their hearts into it, and liked what they had accomplished, but they were uncertain how successful the show would be. I think that the fact that this show was such a phenomenal hit with zero advertising is a testimony as to how good it truly is.

"You can be successful, have a large cultural voice, you can do a lot in this world" - fuck yes, thank you David.
Despite 'knowing better', I still slip into the thought pattern that tells me that because of my mental illness I'm always going to be trailing behind other people I admire, or trailing behind where I want to be. But hearing people I admire and am inspired by talk openly about their own challenges in this way breaks down those stigmas and allows others to see another future, and I can't express my appreciation for that.

@@greeneyesbell1 It is truly a good listen! It is an audio only (not like rogan)
The interview starts at 12 minutes in. I found a link:
      us.ivoox.com/en/episode-921-david-harbour-audios-mp3_rf_26334816_1.html
Hope you like it. The podcast has helped me on many different levels...it is like therapy :)
The way he talks about dealing with his mental issues was very interesting to me. If you like the style of the podcast - the Anthony Bordain one is good to, but for different reasons. I listen to the podcasts bi-weekly as they come out on my phone on a WTF app. It did take some digging to find this (free) archived podcast.

Patty Duke came out about what was then called manic depression in tje 80s. She said in her autobiography, Call Me Anna, that in the 70s, she tried to kill herself in front of her sons, Sean and Mackenzie Astin during an "episode".

Nicole Grace :c the dark side of BP is.. well, dark. i usually like to read about people’s experiences with their mental health but that one sounds a little too heavy metal for me, at least right now.
