They have so much of the great bands genes - remind me of The Stones or old Aerosmith, throw in some Oasis or Bush, add the chops and musicality of Rush but with something new all their own - just fantastic. Really dig these songs off the new album. Hoping I get an opportunity to see them live in the US Midwest.

Hi again, not sure if you are trying to get us to react to you and raise to your bait.
The only time you comment is to either, tell us we picked the wrong Nightwish song, The wrong Nightwish singer, or for using the fair use cam or not picking the song you requested.
We don't always need to listen to a full on symphonic opera masterpiece and want to listen to some straight up guitar based rock and yeah we know Tuomas didn't write the lyrics.
Also notice you put your comment below another reply so you did not get hammered by the Band-Maid fans, nice touch.
Perhaps we are not the right channel for you and you should go find a true Nightwish reaction channel, us we just like to find new artists and songs and broaden our musical knowledge, it's fun and there is much to discover.

The beauty of Band-Maid songs is that they have a familiarity without being derivative of the influence from which they've drawn. That and they blend the breadth of influences so naturally that it truly becomes it's own thing. As a musician, I find that I often thinking: "Why didn't I think to do that". It's so brilliant in that regard.

The current album, Unseen World, had songs they considered what BAND-MAID is now, and several songs that called back to the classic rock sounds they started with. This song, Manners, was written as a bridge between the two.

Their music sounds so full because it is really packed to the brim. It is incredible what you can find in the multiple underlying layers. This is music based on the guitar riff (many of them), something difficult to compose because it requires a lot of work and dedication apart from inspiration. Rock used to be made of this material, but no one composes music like that anymore. Except Band Maid.

Personally, I really like this band. They are multi-talented in every aspect of what brings about great music. I enjoy your comparisons to other artists. In fact, I listened to the Gorillaz, and found the song with the riff. So, keep that up. It helps me with my musical education.
I started digging into the Band-Maid's story, to bring me up to speed about who does what, how they started, their training, their influences, etc. But, I decided to step back and learn from BP1, BP2, and your subscribers. You all are a wealth of knowledge because almost every single one of you are passionate about what Band-Aid is doing. Sometimes, it's best to sit back and soak up what everyone else is bringing to the table. I am going to listen to your previous reaction on this band and read all the comments there, too. I'm amazed at how much your other subscribers know about them, but they have been following them for a while. This is my very first exposure to them. My Mom was born and raised in Japan. She's been living in the US for many decades now. That is another reason that I was so interested in this particular band.
My initial observation on them is that they are great musicians. They each rock their instruments of choice and their vocals work very well together, or as solos. Even though I don't know the lyrics, I found my head bobbing and my foot tapping. That drum solo, followed by the guitar solo impressed me a lot. They just seem so happy and, that alone, can draw me in. I did wonder if a record label will let them be, and not try to change them, in a heavy-handed kind of way. They're very marketable, for sure.
I stopped digging into Band-Maid's story to listen to the Roger Water reaction video. Then, I went into overdrive, listening to, and learning about Pink Floyd. One of the things that came to my mind, regarding Band-Maid is that I sure hope they can stay true to themselves and to each other. After reading a little on Pink Floyd and reading about their in-fighting and break-up, I immediately thought about all the bands that don't stay together because of the competition amongst the band members. This group of young women, they are so special and they are in a league of their own. A lot of record labels in the US try to "cultivate" an artist/band to fit them into some sort of cookie cutter, marketable product, that they think will be more prosperous to them (the record label). It seems to me that anyone with half a brain could recognize that if the band is left alone, untarnished by promoters and handlers, they can be more creative and flex those artistic muscles. That's not to say that I don't wish them great success and the money that comes with it. I'd just like to see them do it in their own way.
Thought your score was spot on. Have a great Wednesday everyone. 🙂

Hello and good evening to you.
I needed to come back to this comment to give it the reply it deserved.
So far, we have reacted to five Band-Maid songs, we found them from comments given to us on what bands we should react to.
We had no idea who they were other than the short information I pulled up before our first reaction.
We found that they just make us smile even though we may not know what they are singing about, they have great fun doing it and it's just great Rock.
They are all sensational musicians and that is something we read from a comment, that in Japan, everyone is very talented, so you have to be even more talented to be recognised, I hope that is quote is correct.
I am a bit of a guitar geek and even found a channel doing a review on the custom "Flappy Pigeon" Zemeitis guitar played by Miku (her nickname is Pigeon)
The back story to the costumes is also interesting but I won't spoil all your research.
As for Mr. Roger Waters, he is an interesting and controversial character.
Did you find the article on how he turned down Mark Zuckerberg in no uncertain and with very fruity language, when asked if they could use a Pink Floyd song for an Instagram campaign.
Gilmour and Waters have had quite an acrimonious falling out and Waters claims that Gilmour thinks he owns Pink Floyd.
They last reunited for the "Live 8" concert in 2005 organised by Sir Bob Geldof.
They both still used to tour and were only allowed to play certain songs from the Pink Floyd catalogue.
Hope you enjoyed the reactions and more coming soon.
Now off to answer your golfing comment 🙂

@@BritPopsReactNow, before I forget to say it, again, I LOVE to hear you and BP1 speaking. Your British accents are so lovely. Here, in the South, we develop a "southern drawl", that sometimes can slay a listeners ears. Listening to you guys is MUSIC to my ears. Hence, I'm not off subject since this channel is about MUSIC.
Yes, I read/viewed the story about Roger Waters' outburst about Zuckerberg's request to use one of Pink Floyd's songs (Another Brick in the Wall) for an ad campaign for Instagram. I sort of understand where he is coming from. The politics in the US had me deciding not to even look at Facebook anymore. There has been so much misinformation on FB that I found myself doing fact-checks all day long. Truthfully, I was wondering who was doing the censorship, because they were doing a pretty poor job of it. There have been times, in the past, that I could have used some potty mouth language, too, about FB. Roger Waters ranted some words during an interview, and one of the interviewers mentioned they had 7 words they were not supposed to use on the air. Waters' was somewhat apologetic to them because he had already used some of those 7 words. He went on to call Zuckerberg "an idiot" and "a prick" (they told him that word was okay, as he glanced at them, after he said it). 🤣 That's why I just went to the music. There appears to be some toxicity between Waters and Gilmour. I did listen to four songs done from the Live 8 Concert in 2005. At the end, there was a group hug, which made me wonder why these guys can't bury the hatchet (and I'm not talking about in each others backs). Good grief !! Someone needs to stick them in a room with a therapist and a mediator and force them to "work it out, guys". Though It would be best to leave the hatchet outside of the room. 🙂
I'm finding that I truly enjoy all these different genres of music that I haven't pursued. My son is familiar with Metallica, Pink Floyd, and many other rock bands. We never told him he couldn't listen to the music he wanted to hear. Every generation has their own music, clothes, and hairstyles. 🙂 We did draw a line about what he could play in this house. I didn't want to hear the outright filthy language or songs that promoted violence. I'm sure he listened to some of that (in his car or at parties), but we never heard it here in our home. Mostly, the kind of rock music I listened to was like Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, The Eagles, some ZZ Top, some Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf. Bob Seger is, by far, my favorite. I think he would fall under the classic rock category, but I'm not sure that is even a genre. I've been to see him in concert multiple times. He really puts on a great concert. His band lost their saxophone player, Alto Reed (what a name, right?), late last year. Bob Seger said that "I might be the band's leader, but Alto Reed was the rock star." I think it's lovely when a group can get along, make great music, and lift each other up, like Bob Seger's band does. I read somewhere, that Seger has been so devastated by the loss of his friend that he doesn't want to tour. I'm hoping that time will heal his grieving heart.
I will be following Band-Maid's music. My hope is that these ladies stay close and that they don't get in each other's way, creatively speaking, on their journey. Let's hope they choose to be like the Silver Bullet Band members and not go down a destructive pathway as Waters and Gilmour have done. Life is too short.
You are, most likely, sleeping now and I guarantee that I'll be sleeping tonight, too. 😴
Looking forward to tomorrow's selections. Today was not my best day. Until then, cheerio.

I think you'll like onset, moratorium as well (audio only), maybe warning... sounds like you like more straight rock or blues rock, but band-maid is a rock-core variation band and takes you on an adventure.

Thank you for the comment and your insight, we would agree or at least myself (BP2 on the right) my background is more Blues and straight Rock and that sits easy with me on a first time hearing a new song, but we do give most styles a try.
      Thanks for watching.

I have added them to our very long list of Artists to check out and we will try and get a reaction to them at some stage.
We really are only part time and try and get time to record maybe once or twice a week for a few hours only, so it may take some time to get to them but we will try.

      @@BritPopsReact Fair response.
The point I am getting at is I don't know what you think from the comparisons you made. If you were reviewing a painting and said it had blue and orange in it and that reminded you of another picture with blue and orange in it...I learn nothing from that.
I don't hear the Gorrillaz myself...other than maybe a slight electropop-esque tuning on Kanami's PRS. Was interested in that comparison but you don't give any context or explanation.

    • @BritPopsReact
      @BritPopsReact  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Zookologist
Morning and thanks for the follow up.
Yes, I can understand your explanation and it does make sense.
We are really hearing the song for the first time and we do it all on one recording, I have no idea what BP1 will say and he has no idea what I will say, we are just going with the flow, trying to listen to the song and think of something interesting to say and not make complete fools of ourselves in the process.
Sometime, something pop's in your head like the sound of another song and it's hard to shake the thought.
Bottom line is, we don't really know what we are doing, we just enjoy hearing new artists and songs and if someone enjoys what we do, that's a bonus.
We didn't think anyone would watch anything we do, so we are totally surprised.
We are learning all the time and only been doing this for just over 3 months and it's just a part-time fun thing.
Hope that helps give a little background on us two fools and hope you come back soon.
      Cheers

Ahh man, come on, we record twice a week as this is only something we do part time during our work and family commitments.
We have it setup this way so that we don't get videos blocked as that does happen and then the short amount of time we do have is lost and we don't have time to record them again.
We just forgot in our short time window to setup the video capture setup from one song to the next.
Sorry if it bothers you but it helps us get the videos out.
      Hope that helps.

What if when Miku rights lirycs like world domination and take over the world we're not actually paying attention to a nefarious pigeon plot to very well take over the world? Many have tried before and failed, (Dr evil) comes to mind, but I feel we had better take this a little more seriously less she actually does. Although I suppose I could bow before Miku.
