I would agree that the average casual video chatter would have a hard time justifying spending this much on a webcam, but as a virtual trainer I have found this awesome piece of hardware invaluable! The low light performance and clarity is second to none. The AI tracking gives me options I didn't have before. I second everything you shared in the review.
Thanks for the great overview....purchased one today as my Brio was not compatible with the new MacBook Air M2. Sigh. Looking forward to my first vid call. Spot on with the set up. Plug and play with the download of the controller software. Note that the controller software has a firmware update option. =o)

Great review. However, I really don't like the sound of this camera. I need great sound. I immediately noticed you were not using the mics of this camera for the review. That was an immediate tip off. When you switched to the camera review the sound was not good (Distant, tinny, echoey) and then you switched back to your pro sounding mic for the review. So - it looks to me as if I need a different mic set up. I don't want a wire, or wireless. I'l like something that sets up on the computer like the camera does that gives me great sound without a wire or having to clip a mic on me. Will a separate mic work with this or is the built in camera mic the only option when using this camera? Suggestions?
I would really appreciate a lower tiered model with just the lens and sensor system, sans gimbal. The gimbal just seems like overkill for most uses but the image quality is fantastic

Though after seeing this and how the insta360 link performed, I’m gonna look into upgrading to that webcam. If I audio sync with a clap, footage from my Insta360 Link, and the audio from my audio interface, both recorded in OBS, why after an hour of straight recording, does the audio lag behind by an entire second?
I bought one of these at the end of August and it's brilliant. Thanks for your excellent review. TIP : I have attached it to the end of a 30cm thin aluminium bar which is fixed to a small ball joint on a clamp which grips the side bezel of my monitor. I can then swing this out at right angles to the monitor to do overheads and back to the face of the monitor for my on-camera speaking shots. Endless possibilities. By the way, I think you could have demonstrated the whiteboard feature by attaching the L stickers to a wall or door. I don't think the camera's AI is is intelligent enough to know that it is not a real whiteboard ! Thanks again for your well presented review..

I’m assuming you are using a DSLR for your primary camera work on this video. What model? The picture-color is incredible. I’m trying to get to that level. Replacing the Lumina with the Instalink this weekend and will see what those results are.

Good review, I am still sitting on the fence. Do I go with the Insta or get an entry level blogging camera like the Sony ZV1-F. I use my Logitech 920 to create TH-cam and Facebook video's mixed in OBS. I am looking to step up the Video quality. The Circa £300.00 for the Insta and £550.00 for the Sony ZF1-F. For the extra £250.00 I get a fully functional Camera. However, I hear I would need a HDMI / USB interface device as the Sony only streams in 720P - Any advice would be appreciated.
1) Does Insta 360 link "track" the full body / any object instead of just the face? 2) Does the tracking and saved focus position 1, position 2, and position 3 in the insta360-app work during the i) Zoom/skype call and ii) TH-cam live? Love the camera, but I think the Link's mics suck big time. Sound tinny. I much prefer the RØDE NT USB Mini on an arm. What is the video LATENCY on the Link??? I.e. if I use another mic, will the image lag behind noticeably?

Hi, I got Insta360 Link webcam, Installed and updated the firmware. I made some changes to the image settings and have Preset tuned on. On 1st Tab there are preset 1 and I added Preset 2. When I go to Teams and Zoom calls it falls back to Preset 1. I did select Preset2. Does the webcam save the settings upon exit? I hope I don't have to do it everytime.

Would’ve been better if the optional tripod could’ve included a battery to power the camera and gimbal when detached from the USB lead. Pop in a micro SD card and you’ve got an Osmo Pocket alternative. As a tethered webcam only, it’s way too expensive.

One of the biggest issues that I will stay away from the Insta360 (and no one on TH-cam has ever mentioned) is the privacy concern: the camera pings Chinese Domain 1K Per Day. Also their software has shady privacy agreement that I don't think we should take the risk. This is confirmed by our IT with the same finding from one of their Amazon reviews: "my corporate IT security team which made me immediately cease and desist the use of the Instalink360 webcam because the software sends information to a Chinese owned Domain Name Service (DNS). My network security team flagged the device because it was flooding my companies firewall logs with over 1,000 DNS calls with in a 24 hour period."

Will this camera be helpful in a school setting? If I record a professor in a lecture hall, will this stay focus at the large power point presentation in a college lecture hall!? Can it record for over 3 hrs? What is the record time? Can I record for 5 to 6 hrs continuous?? I would really appreciate your input.
Those are very specific questions, and having not tested the camera in this way, I can't give answers backed up by my own experience. The camera doesn't store footage internally, it connects to your computer, so in theory, it can store as much footage as the computer it is connected to can fit before running out of space. Yes, it should retain focus on whatever you point it at.
So, when Ventura is released and iOS16, the iPhone can be used as a webcam and microphone. Cost? Nothing. That is what I am planning to use when the M2 Mac Mini is released in October.
This was my fist thought as well. It is a nice bit of kit, but the upcoming Ventura / iOS16 should destroy these features. I would love to see a comparison video on the two though, as I always assume that I can be mistaken.
I’ve not had a chance to try Continuity Camera in the new Mac OS yet, so can’t compare at the moment. I might make a follow up vid once I’ve been able to test both side by side.

I do a lot of Zoom talks/lectures on a full screen setup with a curved 38" monitor. For me having eye-to-eye contact with the audience is important Your setup achieves this very well. What is it? I tried a clear plastic camera mount centered on the screen but my webcam was distractingly large. So I got a 1080p CenterCam which was originally a Kickstarter. I also use a wired mic. BTW, appreciate the good quality of your audio. So I would not consider getting another webcam currently. Keep up the great iPhone videos. Sent my wife a link to one of yours and even she was impressed 👍
Purchased one, received and file a return. I have my PC sitting on a PC stand. The fact this webcam requires a usb connection to a PC just don't work for me. Would be nice if webcam uses bluetooth or some sort for connection. I don't see myself to have a cable dangling from back of my PC to the webcam sitting on top of my monitor. Also, I have an autonomous adjustable table. So @ any given time I want to stand to do work. Obviously the cable not going to make it with the limited length. All in all, webcam with a gimbal is Fantastic, but the fact it requires a physical cable for connection? Back to Amazon. Do Better on the next iteration @Insta360

Hey how do I get my full body in but at a close range? I have one but seems impossible unless I'm further away

I use the Sennheiser MKE600. It isn't the cheapest, but I find it produces the kind of results I want for my videos.

Not directly, as far as I’m aware. You’d have to connect it to a computer, and connect the computer to the ATEM switcher I believe.

I’d love to see a comparison between this web cam on the cam on the Samsung M8
Purchased one, received and file a return. I have my PC sitting on a PC stand. The fact this webcam requires a usb connection to a PC just don't work for me. Would be nice if webcam uses bluetooth or some sort for connection. I don't see myself to have a cable dangling from back of my PC to the webcam sitting on top of my monitor. Also, I have an autonomous adjustable table. So @ any given time I want to stand to do work. Obviously the cable not going to make it with the limited length. All in all, webcam with a gimbal is Fantastic, but the fact it requires a physical cable for connection? Back to Amazon. Do Better on the next iteration @Insta360
I can't see any value of this product for the money, thou I am not a cheap person.
looks nice but seems like The HDR mode doesn't always handle different lighting conditions well. It's hit or miss
