I didnt enjoy raw Puerh until I purchases a solo Gaiwan and cup and learnt how to brew it . I think I had to get used to the flavours and sensations first. I always prefer it in a porcelain vessel. Now I enjoy it more than any other tea type.
I have a couple kg of pu-erh from 2007. At first I didn't like it. But really the problem was just that I was using too much when I brew it. Now I just measure out 2g and brew it in a small (70 ml?) Yixing pot. It is really very good.
love it! yes sometimes you only need 2-3g. glad you redound the beauty of the tea with just adjusting the brewing method.
I tend to like the barnyard funk at times and a cleaner taste at others, overall I find myself drinking morepu-erh in the colder months great vid
Thanks for the information about choosing teas. I am still very new to Puerhs and this was helpful. I like a malty ripe Puerh. I have not found what I like in the raw Puerh.
I'm liking that fish gaiwan! Beautiful set, and good information for buying puerh!
It really is! Thanks!
@@JeffreyMcIntosh little bit late to the party here, but is there any chance that you know if that gaiwan is available online? I really like it. Thanks in advance.
@@adjihd6848 unfortunately no, this is a Gawain I purchased from Vesper Chans shop in China back in 2009 or 2010. Best of luck on your search!
@@JeffreyMcIntosh I see! Thank you for the answer!
I had to hear your advice before I realized how obvious it is. Smart man! (Thank you)
Thanks for watching, glad it was helpful
Words of wisdom. Thank you!
Depending on the tree age, soil, species, process, leaves, height, wild or fertiliser farm. The taste will be different in each area. Gather all your best information, find the tea manufacturer and taste the tea before buy in bulk for investment storage (minimum 15 years to 20 years)
Great videos! Can you please recommend a good source for tea ware (tea tables, cups, pots, etc.)?
I prefer raw pu-erh, especially the teas with a sweeter taste initially.
I like the astringency in sheng puerh that feels like it's gonna get too bitter, but ends up having a really nice juicy PUNCHiness... and the tea drunk feeling from those gushus is what I live for!!! I finally found a shou that i actually enjoy!
I muscle test tea. The variables are too overwhelming so I ask my body to help me decide what will give it strength. It does. I love Pu-erh.
Your comment that it is a buyer beware product is so true. If it has that barnyard taste I pour hot water over it and let sit for about 15 seconds, then pour the water off. That seems to get rid of the harsh taste. I then fill the cup with more hot water. I do not know enough about which tea plantations or regions are which, the names of different companies etc. I buy it online so I am not able to taste it before buying. Like wine it is about what taste good to you, more expensive does not mean it will taste better.
Great videos. Hope you could show us your tea collections.
What’s the most reputable/best websites to order from?
My 2021 cake has a 2025 expiration date. What have they done to it?
My favorite so far is the Yunnan Sourcing 2018 impression. I recall the sample being okay, but the cake was amazing! Is it generally better off the cake?
when a cake is broken into loose leaf it can lose some of its storage/bitterness flavors so that could be it
Interesting 😉
I think so too!
Puerh tea age like people too. A bad personality person usually never get better with age.
Looks good 😉😉😉

how is your tea business during the pandemic?

What year is the Yi Wu tea cake that was on your left side? Thank you. 🙏
Rui A. That YiWu cake is from 2018. Good eyes.
Jeffrey McIntosh Thank you . Yi Wu is one of my favourite regions for sheng tea. Stay safe.
Rui A. A very beautiful Mountain. It’s one my favorite as well alongside Jingmai.
Jeffrey McIntosh LO L Jingmai is another one of my favourites. In my collection there is a serie of tea cakes (or what is left of them) from 2006 all the way to 2014 or 2015. Have a look at my Instagram account where you will see most of the pu’er teas I have tasted.
@@ruia.9848 don't be a tease what's ur ig :)
What are good brands for a new drinker? I tend to prefer lighter and a bit floral flavours. I don't have much access other than amazon.
Hi Raven, thanks for watching and sharing your questions. I try not to mention specific brands on my TH-cam channel as I want the focus to be on education and identifying quality. However I am happy to talk in depth about brands on my Patreon, which anyone is welcome to join.
I got ahold of some extremely old puer tea recently. How can I make heads or tails of if it's still safe to drink? Where should I be storing it? Right now I just have them on a closet shelf in my guest room
I’ll be answering this on my next public livestream on this channel this weekend at 8am PST (03/18/2023) stay tuned.
Thanks for watching and your great questions.
@@JeffreyMcIntosh I'll try to pop in for that. Thanks in advance!
You also need to judge your environment, living in a warm humid home , your tea will change VERY rapidly
Great input, also this could be a great conversation to inquiry about the sellers professionalism and logical thinking when asking question around storage.
