I used to think the "tea pet" was only for decoration. Watching this video I realized that by pouring the first round to the pet, the amore of the tea will evaporate so that the guest will start enjoying the smell before tasting the tea! Awesome~~

This is not only beautiful, but also very beneficial for your health. The West took all wrong. The West took the taste of tea and lost all health benefits. Note for yourself: no metal (spoons or mesh) is involved, all preparation is just warming up clay cups and pot, no hot temperature water is involved. Under these conditions tea emits hydrogen peroxide in biologically safe quantities... Thum up if the topic is interesting.

First brew is just colour. The tea flavour comes out on the second brew.

This video was amazing... I think it took a long time to brew the tea... but I was like yes I want some now..LOL. Today my daughter open an early Christmas present and it was a tea set. I showed my daughter different ways to drink tea. I told her "this is how people in China drink tea"... and I used the "bowl".... then she replied "please do not make fun of the Chinese Culture." I told her I am not. That started the journey to show her the perfect tea making and drink video and I think I have found it. The tea look great, the presentation was great, the music was great! And now my kid have a better understanding of the Chinese Culture and the TEA!

Demetrius Towns this is a Tea Ceremony. It is a sign of deep respect and welcoming of a dear friend or family. Westerners or Europeans may prefer a tea bag for a fast cup of tea, but if you read about tea bag origin, it is exactly impatience that led to steeping tea in what suppose to be packaging. Not very often people are invited to partake in a Tea Ceremony, guess that gesture of deep cultural respect to someone is boiled over in favor of Starbucks and the like. The Music is religious.

@@333houseoflight Everyone I know in Yunnan where my boyfriend is from (Pu'er County) drink tea like this at home and most establishments there (hotels, bars, restaurants) have a tea cermony place. Perhaps not surprising this culture lives on there though. My friends and I drink such good tea there, from ancient tea trees, 景迈古茶.

Pu'erh? - agree. Oolong? - my favorite Tea and the best are from Taiwan...
Last but not least Sencha, Shincha and Gyokuro - no doubt Japan makes it...
But there are so many kinds of great tea and I think, most are from China. For me as a german it is impossible to choose a real good tea because of the name. The sad truth is the great teas get lost between the masses of bad teas. Even bad teas are sold for a lot of money. So I haven't ordered chinese tea for a decade I guess. Maybe you can give me a contact to order the really good tea. I'm buying my tea direct from the teafarmers in Taiwan. But I'd like to try a tea from a seller from china I can thrust... A lot of text just to say, I love the video...

@@Louis.Cyphre My second home is in Pu'er County, Yunnan, where my boyfriend is from. He is from the indigenous Wa people and mad about tea and knows many trustworthy people in the tea business. His cousin's husband who is also a friend of mine has tea plantations, producing very good tea. We have friends in the tea business who are of the Bulong tribe, living on Jingmai mountain in Mangjing village, where the tea comes from ancient tea trees, so called 古茶. I have a bunch of tea from there, it's amazing and I feel so lucky to get to drink this highly sought-after and praised tea. In my home in Sweden I now have Jingmai tea to last me a few years. I can help you out with tea farmer contacts in Yunnan, if you'd like, or just bring some tea back to you to try next time I go to Yunnan, probably in spring 2020.

ah that's because of the claypot she used. in China, we only use one claypot for one particular tea. The tea leaves that's been used for many many times in the one designated claypot will develop the colour and flavour that you only need a few seconds for the tea to brew. That's why some claypots can cost as much as 12.5 million Yuan (divide that by 8 and you get the USD).

The figurines are there for water temp, maybe. I know that there are figurines that change colors to indicate correct brewing temperature. It takes a long time with the Gong Fu Cha method but is well worth the taste. Gong Fu Cha means "Time and Effort with tea". Brewing tea this way instills the traditional Chinese principles of time and effort in all things emphasizing quality over quantity.

This is a very beautiful ceremony, and is extremely helpful in showing me how to prepare the gift of tea I received from one of my Chinese students. Can someone tell me which kind of tea is being prepared in this video? It has a red label like one of the two teas I have, and I was told it is a "baked" tea. I would like to know what that means, too! But what kind of tea is she making?

I guess your students meant to say cooked tea. What she makes in the vid is also Cooked Pu'er tea. You can make it as long as you have a boiler for hot water and a glass to drink. Enjoy.

Thanks Laura for liking the video. The tea I was brewing in the video is called Shu Puer Tea from Yunnan Province, south-west China. Shu Puer tea is a microbially fermented tea obtained through the action of molds, bacteria and yeasts on the harvested leaves of the tea plant.

Those are tea pets. Nowadays they have cute ones that do things when you pour tea. There's one that squirts out the tea! Lol. They're usually for good luck. There's a cute store about the frog!!
