I'm Polish and the correct pronunciation would be along the lines of "kosh-chew-shko". To make it even trickier, the first "sh" and the "ch" are a lot softer, like Japanese "sh" and "ch", whereas the final "sh" is harder than English.

I found it amazing that the British colonizers allowed to use the name of the general who fought against the British in North America 🤣

The true pronunciation (KOHSS-CHOOSH-KOH) is very alien to English speakers, and "KOZZY-OSS-KOH" is likewise alien to Polish speakers, not much room for compromise.
I've heard some English speakers say "KOH-CHOOSS-KOH;" while still not entirely accurate, I can't think of a single English speaker that'd struggle with that pronunciation, and Poles would be able to understand what they're TRYING to say

@@keluj862 Mountain is named after Polish general Tadeusz Kościuszko, because the father of Paweł Edmund Strzelecki (Polish explorer who reached the peak of this mountain) was an insurgent during Kosciuszko Uprising against Russia and Prussia that were occupying Poland.

This is the Anglicizeed pronunciation. We find it very difficult to pronounce non-English names here due to the hard sounds Germanic sounds of English in general plus the lazy pronunciation of colloquial Aussie. Polish might as well be Alien script. The real pronunciation is something like "Kosch-Choosh-Ko

Anglo Australians usually don't learn any foreign language/s and are quite lazy to learn proper pronouncements of foreign names. At the same time they say Australia is multicultural 🤣🤣🤣

These examples are actually given from Australia-not from the United States.
