We always said breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I used to get so confused as a kid, when people would call lunch, supper. Lol. Regional differences. So interesting to see how things were different in other areas. 😊
These are the best green beans. I just love them and I just got through cooking some more. Thank you for sharing all your recipes. I love to watch your channel.😉
Tammy, I'm 71 years old and a pretty good cook myself, but I absolutely love watching you cook and share these wonderful southern family recipes you grew up with! So yes, I have made your green bean recipe. It's amazing how something with 3 simple ingredients can be so delicious. I absolutely love them. Happy Saturday evening to you and Chris.❤️
Breakfast, dinner, supper. It is a southern country thing I do believe. When you were in the fields working all day you had your big meal in the middle of the day followed by a break during the heat of the day and the small meal, supper, was the last meal of the day. Usually leftovers from dinner or cornbread with buttermilk.
Yep! The first time I made those green beans I was sceptical, but hubs and I love them made that way. 💖 And what's easier than canned green beans? We love meatballs too, and of course gravy is a beverage in this house. 👍😁
@@samscarletta7433 Tammy didn't loose anything ! She gets better as time marches on ! I am Southern ! She is Southern through and through ! I Love Tammy and Chris !
Hi Chris and Tammy, I grew up in Maine, and still live here, I'm almost 67 so that tells you I grew up in the 60s and early 70s and we always had breakfast, dinner and supper. It may have been in the 80s or early 90s when dinner became lunch and supper became dinner. I think someone thought we need a little culture. They were wrong. I love your channel so much and that is coming from a guy who never cooked before.
YES THIS IS BEST WAY TO MAKE GREEN BEANS...BEEN DOING THIS WAY SINCE FIRST WATCHED YOU 4 OR 5 YEARS AGO...LOVE 'EM...LIKE YOUR NEW GLASSES TOO MS TAMMY...HAVE GOOD SATURDAY NIGHT GUYS AND THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR TIME WITH US
In Kansas we said breakfast, dinner and supper. When I moved to New Mexico, where I worked I asked what are we doing for dinner? They all looked at me like I was crazy...they said "we'll be off by then"! So I had to explain myself....even grandpa Walton talked about that one time!
I'm 68 and was raised by my Italian grandmother who always prepared dinner for us at 4 o'clock. When I was little, gradmother prepared breakfast for me until I could get something for myself. She basically cooked one meal a day and that was dinner. Her famous line was...You can either look at it or eat it! So, I ate whatever she made. She basically cooked a few things over and over. Fortunately, my great- aunt who lived two houses up from us would bring something homemade for us to eat on her days off. I never heard my grandmother say the words breakfast or supper...she would just fix something and figured you would see and eat it, or fix yourself something... Cindy
Growing up, we called it quickly, dinner, supper but when we started school, they called me at lunch at school. But at night it is always supper for me
It was breakfast and lunch on weekdays. It was either supper or dinner depending on what was served on weekdays. Sunday was like Chris was raised: breakfast, dinner and supper.
I grew up in Alabama and it was always breakfast, dinner and supper. Now living in NW Indiana they say lunch instead of dinner. I prefer the old fashion way.
Hi Tammy! You had me at the very mention of Granny's Green Beans!! We had them this evening although instead of meatballs we enjoyed your Braised Chuck Roast. Also had a squash casserole and mashed potatoes to go along with the delicious gravy from the chuck roast! Granny's Green Beans have been a huge fave with my crew from the very first time we tried them and are often requested! Thanks for another video, y'all! 🌞
I cleaned out my fridge of some vegetables. Chopped them, olive oil, seasoning, and baked on a cookie sheet while green beans were cooking. That was my dinner tonight, with a leftover chicken leg. You do cook like my momma did and like I did, too, before my kids went vegetarian. Thanks! Love your videos! ❤️
Yep, I agree with Chris, Sunday “lunch” was Sunday Dinner. Evening meal was always supper. Made Granny’s green beans for supper tonight….umm umm good 🥰 Sure do love you, Chris and ALL of your recipes. Thanks so much.
I just started cooking because I've eaten out since I've been an adult but these recipes bring back memories especially the tomatoes I eat them just with salt and pepper
This has made me so hungry. I’ve got to run to Walmart now…….And by the way Tammy we called breakfast well, breakfast noon meal supper and dinner dinner..lol 😂 my Grandma cooked at 7am,12 and 5…. If you didn’t eat then you starved….. no going back in once the kitchen was clean.. Update; THIS IS DELICIOUS! The green beans are SO SO GOOD,everything is delicious.
I use brown sugar, bacon grease & a little onion powder but still cook them the same way. The brown sugar adds a little "sum'in'". A certain depth you just can't put your finger on and, of course, pork grease rules! BTW, my family said breakfast, dinner & supper, too. 😁
I’ve made these green beans and I find I like my recipe better. Mine is with kitchen cut beans as well, drained, bacon grease, flour, salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste. They are extremely flavorful and take only about 5 minutes or so to fix. Up north our meals are breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dinner and supper are interchangeable, but we usually say dinner. I’m going to try your bean recipe again with olive oil. Last time I used canola oil because it’s heart healthy and what I had. Personally I don’t care for it. Olive oil is just as healthy if not more so.
When I was young like around 12 my best friend invited me to dinner and her aunt cooked greens beans and I asked her how come her green beans were so delicious and she told me that she put a little sugar in them. I am now 66 and can tell your viewers that it does enhance the flavor. A few years back I heard on the food network that whenever you cook vegetable always add a little sugar it brings out the flavor of the vegetable. You Tammy have taught me and I fix them no other way than GRANNYS GREENBEANS….. Thank you❤️i
I got these plates on a Black Friday sale at JCPenney years ago, but I have very similar ones on the website. If you go to shop now and then look under the dinnerware you will find some square country, French style plates. They're beautiful
Back in the farm country the relatives had "dinner" at noontime and "supper" in the evening. We town or city folk called them lunch and dinner or supper. That was common in the more rural areas, as opposed to big city life. This was decades ago, and terms have probably changed. Sadly, not many people nowadays gather the whole family together for meals, at least not every day. Modern life changed.
You bless my heart so much! Thank you for sharing. Xoxo I've done your Granny green beans and it's our go to now. They have a perfect nuttiness to them. Breakfast lunch n supper every day except Sunday. Sunday was breakfast dinner and supper.
I love your granny green beans, the first time I made them was at thanksgiving a couple of years ago and they have been a staple in our home ever since… thanks so much♥️
I'm with Chris on the meals! If we had a sandwich it was lunch but otherwise on Sundays, it was Dinner! At night time, it was always Supper! Still is Supper! Breakfast, Lunch n Supper during the week and on weekends it was Dinner! Always, Always and I'm from Georgia also, born n bred! I think you're confused Tammy! Lol. Ok hun.. My Mama n Grandmaw cooked beans like this too... They also would sometimes put a lil Vinegar in them instead of Sugar. Boy are they good! I'd had a homemade Biscuit with that meal or a piece of Cornbread! I love Tomater Biscuits! So good! Lol. Thanks Tammy n Chris... GOD BLESS. 🙏🙏❤❤🇺🇸
We said breakfast, lunch and dinner. But supper and dinner were one and the same to us.
My family did too dinner and supper all the same.

I’ve never heard of putting sugar in green beans. We always cooked them with bacon drippings. I’ll have to try your recipe.
I can't quite get my head around sugar instead of bacon for green beans. I'm pretty sure she lost her "southern" label.
