I hope this gets some traction on the social media platforms. This type of analysis is something that is rare to see in the book tube community. Thank you, again for doing these.
Brilliant analysis of an amazing story! It's probably one of my favorite short stories in all of fiction I've read to date and captures the essence of unrequited love so exquisitely. I just finished it today, and teared up by the end. It's sad when you fall in love with a fictional character which barely occupies 50 pages of an epic fantasy saga cuz you know you'll never get to see her again (outside of fanfics or possibly in the Netflix). Hope to see more videos from your channel analyzing some other popular stories from Witcher series :)
Thank you for such positive feedback! I really love this story and also get teared up every time. I was thinking of doing The Lesser Evil at some point because I was really frustrated with that Netflix episode lol.
I really enjoyed this analysis. I just finished reading the story and I had to rush and see what others had to say and look up if there was some Essi fanart. It was a lovely story full of humanity, and the way you talked about it was like rereading it all over again. And yeah Netflix may have skipped this story, but honestly I'm kinda glad. S2 showed they're more worried about being the next GoT, than to adapt the complex and beautiful world of TW.
That story got me in the feels for days. I don't think the show would do this story justice, it's just too complex and the show already skipped like 80% of the first 2 books. Tho I'm curious about what you think of the show? what do you like/dislike?
Yeah, I feel like they are bringing in Ciri’s plot lines earlier and that takes away from the short stories which is disappointing. That being said, Henry Cavill plays a fantastic Geralt. What about you?
@@bookritique5423 Bookritique I feel the show could be so great, but they've missed the mark. A few of my favorite characters are either butchered, or canned completely (Philippa Eilhart for example). There're also litany of other problems like plot holes, magic system, world building etc. but i don't wanna write too much lol. I gotta admit the actors are very capable, but i fell they're held back by the script. I'd imagine Joey Batey can be a much better Jaskier if he was given more dialogues from the book, instead of just a sidekick in the show.
To be honest for me only Henry Cavill and the guys who plays Dandelion saved the show from a total failure . They are both amazing in their roles but I am shocked how badly directed the show is . If I did not know the books I would never have understood the plot , with is messy timeline . Plus all the political correctness leading to strange cast choices just annoys me.
I was born in 1992, as well. Haven't read this collection, yet, but I started The Last Wish. Thank you for telling us about your fave in Sword of Destiny 🥰
You’re in for quite the journey! I love both sets of short stories, they are so much fun and I really fell in love with the characters. The novels have a different vibe, but I’m really enjoying them too 😊
I came from the future to tell that they - Melitele pe praised! - never adapted this story in the "Netcher". Though in the end of the 7th episode of the 3rd season actress that plays Ciri sings a song "A little sacrifice". The only bright spot of the entire season.
Imogen? I always thought Jenn was short for Jennifer. Somehow, I missed this book channel of yours, and I’ve been subscribed to Geekritique for a couple of years now. I just subscribed to this channel. I just finished “The Last Wish” on Audible and was greatly impressed with how good an author Sapkowski is. Peter Kenny is also an excellent reader. I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of the Witcher series on Audible.
Heyy! I recognize you! I previously shared a name with a very popular celebrity and it was really annoying, so I legally changed it from Jennifer to Imogen. I’ve been going by Imogen for some time now, so when I started this TH-cam channel I figured I would start using my new name. Thanks so much for subscribing!!! I’m really excited about the new channel and have a lot planned! I love Peter Kenny’s narration! He really captures the personalities of the characters. And Sapkowski made such a unique world with this series. Hope you enjoy the rest of it!
@@bookritique5423 Have you thought about doing reviews on any of the other short stories of the first two Witcher books? Would enjoy hearing your reviews on them as well. This series has been really incredible so far just finished A Little Sacrifice a couple hours ago.
Yeah, the short stories are pretty confusing at first because they aren’t linear, but the show changed the time line so that they could work in plot points from later novels. I get why they felt that they had to do that, but in some of the retellings of short stories, they missed some important details to make room for stuff about Ciri.

Thanks Graff!! You’re always so supportive and we really appreciate it 🤗

That was great. Thank you for taking the time to parse this out. Now, I need to reread it.
Graff, you are everywhere! Haha. I love this channel, too ❤
Please do more of these for the witcher, this video was amazing and I feel like I could listen to you talk about this short story for hours.

could it be, not that geralt met yenefer first but that the wish he made forces him to? thats an interesting quest in witcher 3

Wow, fantastic review. Completely agree with everything you said, and you brought up great points I didn’t connect
Thank you! 🤍

Very nice review - thanks .
I didn't like the Witcher series on Netflix. I was so lost with no knowledge of the world beforehand which is quite bad for an adaption

Dandelion definitely got more respect on my chart after reading this
