The car in the thumbnail is EXCEEDINGLY rare. I think they only did convertible coupe DeVilles for one or two years for that generation. The hard tops are already uncommon.
Car culture is the main reason i took such a strong interest in Japan and it makes me unbelievably happy seeing that car culture is alive and well. Hope i can catch one of these nights when i eventually visit Japan.
It's still so weird seeing all the old American cars there, when they were a dime a dozen here when I was growing up. I do love that they do lowriders proper though.
and it looks as clean and perfect as new, rare to see such a thing in America let alone Japan. The Dakota is a beloved muscle truck platform (look into the Dakota RT / Durango RT with the 5.9 ^^ and the community for it, or the Shelby Dakota, where Carol Shelby looked at the Dakota, threw a v8 in it and made a sport truck, which is actually why the Dakota began offering v8s standard). The RT with the 5.9 v8 was only offered in single and extended cabs, so I strongly suspect that this is an RT with the 5.9, esp given that those have been the best maintained and cared for of the 2nd gens. look at that cargo hauler in the bed, making it look like they might be doing something, but acting as cover for their sport truck that somehow blends in perfect despite how much it stands out. You wouldn't think someone would bother to import a 2nd Gen dakota, they're nice enough but why bother with one, unless it's got a killer v8 and you can get it for a reasonable enough price. That truck is probably the biggest engine around, even the fanciest cars around with high Preformance engines aren't going over 5 liters. In Japan where people don't know about the Dakota, let alone the RT, I bet this thing takes souls.
I like to think that for every Kei truck, skyline, and car older than 25 the US imports from Japan, the Japanese enthusiasts import an old American car or buy one from a serviceman as a sort of equal balance to the world.
Its wild seeing a Tundra in Japan and it looks like a friggin tank on those streets. Im just too used to seeing trucks like that everywhere in the states.
Hope you'll start doing these streams again. They were my favourite! I've been there on the first saturday of last April, and seeing the real deal for the first time was incredibly exciting!
I think it's a 240sx, so that's just how they came in the US. We'd call them a Onevia here in Aus, where it was actually a Silvia coupe + 180sx front, since we didn't get the 240 (or any S13 at all, all imported)
Akshually Onevia Jokes aside it'd be funny if some Japanese dude found out that USDM 240SX coupes were basically just factory Onevias and just said "I want that." lol
Random comment I know, but C-notches do not necessarily mean bagged. Even a full static drop uses C-notches. The notch is specifically just to further lower the car without hindering the rear axle and suspension geometry. After C-notches, it can still have air bags added or hydraulic. To for certain dictate if it has air bags, you must see the air tank in back, unless they hid the tank somewhere, or compressor depending. I haven't been updated in modern truck scenes to know if air bags advanced further to not need a tank.
Ive heard it as Either First Saturday or Second Saturday of every month. But really cool to See ALL types of culture in one place and no one is having a brawl.
Original Jimny! So many people don’t realize this was the only gen imported to the US! They weren’t brought in large numbers for consumer sales, mining companies bought them because they would fit down tunnels!
I'm a truck guy and seeing all the Toyota Tacoma's, Hilux mini trucks and Tundra's gave me wood. Even that Dodge Dakota was cool, that was my first truck I ever owned with the 4.7L. A big V8 in a small truck was alot of fun.
I remember in the background of a shibuya spotting video I saw a lowered 2000s Chevy Silverado and these last few years I saw that lowered American trucks are becoming more popular and being imported. I’d love to see a video on some American truck spotting
Lowriders in Japan is stil crazy to me. Don't get me wrong I LOVE it but I'm just like "one of these things is not like the other." Japan gave the world the JDM life and the U.S. gave Japan the Chicano lifestyle. 💜💜💜💜💜💜
9:18 a lot of great cars in this vid, never seen a 430 done up so well usually these cars are ugly first glance but this one is the cleanest I’ve seen, ever.
10:48 Unless there's a RHD variant I'm forgetting, that Chevy Express or GMC Savana with the doors on the left is quite rare! It was a big thing when GM face-lifted their full-size vans in 2004 but the driver-side doors didn't last long.
This was nice. I went to shibuya and on my last day (Friday?) around 7pm there were several nice cars. Even during the day I saw a similar red small quirky car and everyone was taking pictures. at night I saw some nice race cars just loitering around their cars parked. It was a nice view.
For anyone thinking of going, these meets have unofficially moved to the SECOND Saturday of the month.
Thank you very much!
great, and i'm planning on being in shibuya for the first saturday of the month....
this man's a car guy and doesn't know what a dodge dakota is?

Thank you

Anyone noticed Alexi has gotten heaps better at identifying US cars?
This was recorded years ago lol
@@MrTeutje303 oh was it? I remember him struggling to name a few American cars a while back.
He said when he spotted the type R at 1:15 "that's a recent one, probably like a, 2017?" So i'm guessing this was quite an old stream
@@TimMyles yeah the new recent fl5 Type R came out in 2023, so this stream could be a year or two years ago!

They were never offered as convertibles from factory. All of them are aftermarket conversions
This is going to sound weird but I just love that you can just talk to people lol

yeah. They gave me a reason to wake up early (EU btw).
heyyyy luckyknight! love your art, man.
i love how the cops are just making sure nothing goes wrong
There isn't one street in America this clean

It is strange to see lowriders in Tokyo, and not in LA. There's fun USA muscle cars hooning around Copenhagen.
This is so "Midnight Club" vibes dude! Awesome!
I'm always amazed at seeing USDM cars in other countries, and how much enthusiasm there is for them.
Seeing a 2nd gen Dakota really caught me off guard.

Crazy how clean and quite it is in the city.
That's really the 1st thing my wife and I said when we got off the tain in Osaka.
A major contributing factor for the quietness is the quality of the asphalt. It cuts down on road/tire noise dramatically.
@ErebosGR I thinks it's also the speed limit and the fact that there are so many buildings muffling the sound.
@@s70driver2005 Every city in the world has speed limits and buildings.
In Japan, not many people honk their horns like they do in America.
I love how peaceful and respectful everybody is and that at centre of huge city

That Saturn SC2 at 2:43 though! Pretty common/beat here in the states, but that's a treat to see a nice one in Japan! Love it!

"Dodge Dakota... I don't even know what that is." It's like the cheapest "small" truck you can get in the US, dime a dozen haha.
The older ones were smaller and I felt they would've been a hit in Japan.
Would love to see the full VOD of this!
I second this
Damn i was searching for it xdd
The guy that laughs randomly, in the background, sounds so happy lol. I would be too car spotting there. All the best man.
crazy to hear someone say Idk what that is to one of the most commonly seen trucks of my childhood. Car culture is so cool how far it reaches!
I think I was more excited to see the public freaking out when they spot Alexi/Noriyaro in public! I would do the same!!😁
Bog laps happen the world over, it seems. I miss those Shibuya streams. Cheers Alexi!

When the sub-notification sounds feels nostalgic 😭
Was there last week and this makes me want to come back immediately. What an experience.
So much better than takeover meets. I could watch this for hours!
Alexi we really need livestreams back 😂. They were really fun to watch
I used to go there all the time. There is a small shop that sells synthesizers across the street from tower records. called Echigoya music.
I don't know much about cars but there is something super enjoyable about Alexi naming off cars as they roll past.

Such a cool car spotting location. Was stood there in 2019 for a while!
I have NEVER in my life seen a Dodge Dakota in that good of condition in the United States
the amount of rust they collect is it's own tier
Saw a mint first generation Trailblazer in a small city in Japan. Drove around to see the rear suspension, no rust anywhere.
Original Jimny! So many people don’t realize this was the only gen imported to the US! They weren’t brought in large numbers for consumer sales, mining companies bought them because they would fit down tunnels!
Praying to god there’s a vod for this stream because I direly need to see more of that blue motorbike with the huge scoops on the back wheel

It's pretty wild seeing JDM vehicles here in the US, but it's even wilder seeing US cars imported to Japan being driven around in the city.
This looks like an absolute blast!!!! that would never work in America. People would get too stupid.
OK not gonna lie got WAAAAAY too excited at seeing the K11 Micras (March) 😂😂😂
That's one hell of a cool spot, not only is it accessible but damn, the sheer variety of cars is insane
I HAVE to go to one of these. This is now on my bucket list.

So cool seeing US cars in a different aspect
Definitely going to try check this out when we are over in September! thanks for showing us this!
I was there in may and had a whole bunch of jdm classics pull up on a road right off the shibuya crossing, it was amazing

Japan car culture is very diverse, its just wonderful!! ❤️
Japan has the broadest car scene in the world. Lots of other good car spotting locations as well.

3:40 Toyota bB! WOO!
One of my favorite moments from these streams was those dudes in the former Taxi.
The variety of stuff is wild, must be an amazing watch on a good night!
I love that the Japanese love American cars so much. I did not expect to see what I think was a 96 Buick Roadmaster.
I remember in the background of a shibuya spotting video I saw a lowered 2000s Chevy Silverado and these last few years I saw that lowered American trucks are becoming more popular and being imported. I’d love to see a video on some American truck spotting

This reminds me of late 90s Chelsea cruise in London, from King’s Road down around Sloane Square and over Battersea bridge!!
love the vibe.
Love how people in japan still want to keep car culture going. Wish we had a place here to cruise around.
It's been replaced by street takeovers, pretty much a culture problem if you live in the states
Shibuya doesn't even know what to do with all these danged hooligans!
