a tip for use with remote gas tanks and push on hose --- eng will idle but not rev up --- check tiny o ring in hose cnn. both ends it will have a small hole in ring lets air in not gas to remove insert fish hook in o ring jerk it out put small amt, lub on new o ring push in easy to fix ----buy these o rings at boat shops keep spare in tackle box it may save alot of paddling some day
I haven't read the comments, maybe this has been pointed out but, NEVER EVER use an electric (110v) drop light while working with fuel tanks. Use a cordless, battery operated or rechargeable light.
Just removed fuel from my boat tank by blocking fill inlet, running hose from pickup tube to other tanks/cans and then using air into vent tube. When you need to stop flow just move your hand. Still have 1/2 inch of bad fuel in bottom, thinking of doing the tube thing you did to get to bottom, but use air again to push it out. No sparks with air. Use air to empty semi tank trailers too, just a lot larger compressor.
How to restore plastic boat tanks for about 6 months my engine broke down I have to drain it still what do I need to put in side after I drain it so it won't dry up whatever's left on the bottom thanks
Maybe a dumb question....were you "lifting" fuel with this pump? I made the same set up but I cannot pull the fuel up out of my tank. I see it says it is obviously a gravity feed style pump but was t sure if this should still work. It won't pull anything. Thanks for any replies.
Tim Leeson not a dumb question! So these cheap transfer pumps won’t self prime, so the work around is just put a fuel ball between the tank and the pump, that way you can squeeze it and prime the pump and it will Run from there. Make sure you don’t have any air leaks in the pickup side also
cordelmar not sure why you think that, after all fuel transfer pumps are made to transfer fuel. As long as you have your electrical connections far from fuel vapors there is no danger. A manual pump would take forever
Cosmo this is done to empty the tank out completely and start with fresh clean fuel. The whole purpose of this setup is to be able to get to the absolute bottom of the tank below your fuel pick up and grab all the water and gunk that may have been living in your tank for a while.
Great idea! Thanks for the video.
I bought a small Aquasport that was using portable tanks & Im looking to get the tank up & functional.

No your the TH-camr! Thanks good video.
harbor freight has a battery operated fuel pump to empty your tank uses d batterys cheap but works great
Fuel Right will clean your fuel and keep it clean.
thanks buddy great idea,, good tip. i have that a lot so that will be the solution from now on.
Glad I could help!
PTFE tape between the thread on those brass fittings will stop leaks.
i think the tape used on gas fittings is yellow not white

Tim Leeson watch part 2 and you will see the fuel squeeze balls location
go to harbor freight they have a d battery opperated pump for draining gas tanks cheap and works great
Thanks. This is encouraging.
I would never use a electric pump, manual pump would probable take longer but is safer.

Boom.
agree, as most engines have electrical fuel pumps, they should all make "boom" according to that post :-)
maybe ya could start a siphon that will eventually empty most of the tank.
harbor freight has pump to insert in gas tank its d battery opperated has hose to drain as pump runs it safe - cheap -- works good
Where is the filtration done? It looks like you're just circulating dirty fuel. Did I miss something?

I do the big boats but my machine moves over a 100 gpm.
how did u open the center part above tthe tabk

+Anthony Rudzinski Works great, just make sure you keep your batteries far away from the gas
