I noticed that the snowball lume pips on the new Alpinist are applied right on the dial where on my SARB017 they are sitting in little gold cups. You can't see them without a jeweler's loupe, but they're there. That ivory dial is really nice!
Had mine since May and I absolutely adore it, I found a fix for the chapter ring misalignment which is simple and I may remove the cyclops but looks fine on this model. Replaced the black leather for a Strap Code Super Oyster which completely changes the look with the cream dial....... Gorgeous!!!!
Is there anyway you could link a picture of your Alpinist with the Strapcode bracelet? I love the cream dial, but I’m a bracelet guy and would love to see it together before I buy
That’s a really versatile watch. I wish it was just a bit larger or that Seiko made a 41 or 42mm version. The dial is great and almost any strap works with that watch.
So I had one of these last February. Flipped it and regretted it. Now getting one for my 50th Birthday ... main reason? I have dozens of really cool straps at 20mm. The black one isnt as much of a strap demon.
Leave it to Seiko to fix the bezel alignment issue with a rotating function. I really like the white dial, never could dig the original green. Picked up a Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Pioneer, with a similar countdown timer.
The price on these has gone crazy. The worst part of being in Canada is that half of the stuff don't even get released here. With Covid and closing of the border, I'm basically just window shopping here.

I had both, the Khaki King is slimmer but the Alpinist just felt nicer & IMHO is better quality - so much so I didn't wear the Hamilton & ended up gifting it to a friend (who isn't a WIS and loves it). Hope this helps.

I had a bad experience with Sekio 5 automatic. The watch had daily +10 seconds so every week I had to adjust the time.
