    They have so many production companies because they needed all the help with budget they could get lol David Dastmalchian's production company is the one with the stop motion animation.

      Thanks for that info because It did make me curious. That makes a lot of sense. I can definitely see executives without any vision totally avoid this project.

    "Lilly. Lilith. Am I making a connection that doesn`t exist?" Nope, the screenwriters knew exactly what they were doing when they chose that name.

    Justice for Gus #gustice
    The one man who didn't do a single thing wrong to anybody.
    On another note: the mention of the Warrens by Car was a jab at how the Warrens interacted with paranormal investigators IRL: most of their stories were extremely embellished. In one case, they showed up to the house for about a couple days after another investigator had been there for weeks, asked a couple questions, then skedaddled. This incident was the one with the possessed girl in England, iirc. They were known fraudsters who claimed credit for other investigators' work, even back then. While those investigators may have also been embellishing, there are many stories from investigators at the time who said that the Warrens didnt give a crap about the ordinary people involved in the haunting, possession, etc. They just wanted the story, and did none of the work to actually investigate the story.

    4:10 In those days, and I was only a child in 1977 but I'm pretty sure, late night was more variety show focused and not so obviously a platform for press junkets. Like the Gong Show for example. Nowadays there's some skits and a huge proportion of actors, musicians etc. doing junkets. It's odd to think about, less carnival atmosphere in the modern shows. And that Chrisdou guy! Greek or Gypsy name, Chinese mandarin outfit, saying "Si" like a psychedelic shaman out of a Carlos Castanda bio; and the monoculture of the time just accepted it!

    Love the reaction. Top notch as always! This reminds me of a show we had on TV in the UK some years ago. It ran over a couple of nights and it was called "Ghost Watch''.
    It was a documentary style show following a haunted family in their own home, based off the real family in the "Conjouring 2" movie who also had a documentary.
    The problem is that BBC didn't indicate in any way that this was fake and it absolutely terrified and traumatised the nation.
    In fact it got so bad that I remember psychologists being brought into schools across country to speak to the children.
    It was crazy 😳🤨🇬🇧

    I had a lot of fun watching Late Night With The Devil. What a delightful mix of found footage documentary, satanic panic, and late night show satire.
    David crushes it, his face is doing serious work during every moment of comedy and horror. He sells that twist and recontextualizes the whole movie with the ending. I hope he gets more lead roles after this.

      Not found footage, analog footage like in the late night shows of the 1970s depicted in The Film.

    i didn't notice the other appearances of the wife until you pointed them out, how fun!
    this movie was one of my most anticipated releases of the year but sadly it did not grip me the way it has a lot of people. AI aside, there were a lot of things that asked for my suspension of disbelief, and i just couldn't. it's a great premise, it just didn't really work for me unfortunately.
    looking forward to the next reaction! :)

    I have such a mixed reaction to this movie.
    Everything you said is true. The atmosphere is fantastic. The performances are, to the last, amazing. The feel of the 70s talk show is spot on. As far as all of that goes, this movie hits on all cylinders.
    But...
    I cannot get past the fact that the filmmakers had to cheat and completely violate their own concept. This movie's primary conceit is that it's the footage of the event, and yet the two primary scenes at the end--the "hypnosis" scene with the worms and then Jack's visions/hallucinations--are both scenes that absolutely aren't, and cannot be, part of that footage.
    And it just drags me out of the movie and drastically lowers my appreciation of it.
    I recognize that not everyone will have that reaction, but to me, if you're going to set up a primary conceit on which to base an entire film, you don't get to then willfully toss that conceit out the window because it's easier.
    I still appreciate everything the movie did right, and it should go on the demo reels of most of its cast. But I just can't label it a success.

    • @my_randomology
      @my_randomology  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I saw it as the viewer was hypnotized by the footage and whatever the hell we saw in that dream sequence was imprinted onto the footage Samara-style.

    • @Noisycatstephanie
      @Noisycatstephanie 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’m pretty sure the audience saw both those things. Jack mentions Carr’s ability to do mass hypnosis and he makes sure to have the camera focus on the watch.
      The end scenes were seen as well, which is why Jack begs everyone to turn it off, he realizes too late that Abraxis has affected everyone watching at home (the intro says just witnessing a ritual gives It power, Lilly’s purpose being getting on the show, Carr saying Abraxis was a showman at heart).

    The phrase "real Exocisms" sounds like "real cosplay".
    And tbh - you either have someone faking the "demon-thing" being cured or someone with real problems who needs less vodoo and more competent doctor, so it's not suprising that it often does not "end good". ^^
