- What are the periodic trends? Electronegativity, Atomic Radius, Ionization Energy, and Electron Affinity. How to remember them? F has the highest electronegativity, electron affinity, and one of the largest ionization energies. It is also one of the smallest atoms.
When you got that chem final tmmrw🙃
Jenna Lasky me too but actually its 4hrs from now :(
dude same
same lmao
mine is tmw lmao
Mine is later
"I hate periodic trends" same Nate same 😢
dude i'm dumb as hell. taking chemistry was the worst decision of my life.
+kidcudibaaby lol
tryy try again :D
+kidcudibaaby In high school or colleeege?
+IWantMyVisionBack high school

If you aren't already, read the textbook until you understand the concepts, the formulas, pay attention in class, do the homework, practice problems, go to your teacher for extra help and use TH-cam :).
I'm taking General Chemistry in college and it's a lot harder (not really, more so a lot of information and formulas to memorize). Don't be me and try to learn all the material/cram the night before a midterm!
Using TH-cam it's actually pretty simple to me. The most confusing part is probably the formulas and deciding which I should use and what I should plug in. But the conceptual stuff I get.
+kidcudibaaby i definitely feel dumb in chem. especially reading my textbook. even in lecture and lab i feel behind sometimes. idk if this is helpful but i've watched tons of videos and read lots of stuff online before class, and it gives me a boost. i feel prepared and with it. chem and i don't get along but if i get a head start by studying before class i can stay with the class or even ahead.
You explained it better than my Chemistry teacher. Thanks!
JasonVanished I like chemistry
Short, clear and precise. Best chemistry videos in my opinion. Thanks a lot.
YOU SIR ARE THE GREATEST MAN ALIVE THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT SO EASY HONESTLY A MILLION THANK YOUS
Short, simple, precise, not getting overly scientific. You made this so easy for me to understand as a non STEM major. Thank you so much for this!
bless this heckin videooooooo boy I do nOT understand one thing going on in my chem class. I’m a 10th grader who decided to take heckin AP chem w all these seniors and I am fallin behind oh boy
moooddd and the exam is on thursday bro
I have watched this video at 3 different stages of life. A senior in high school a freshman in college and now a senior in college. I get it down now 👍🏽
I just fell in love with periodic trends because of you. You awesome Nate!!
Every one is talking about doing this in college, I'm doing this in 11th grade
+Tylercrazy101 lol ikr. same here
+Rohit sanjay I did it in grade 11 too, and then the same thing again in Uni or college pretty much... Just a few more exceptions you need to know.
+Tylercrazy101 yeah did it in 10th, but you have to freaking take it again in college, depending on your major tho. it sucks
+Tylercrazy101 it's because you learn this stuff in high school. what he's showing is from your basic high school chem class. you can take it as a course in college if you haven't taken chem in a long time. it's like calculus 1 (calculus a). you can take it in high school, and it's also available in college. actually, it's probably more like algebra. you take high school algebra in high school, but you could also take it in college, if you haven't taken a math class in a long time and you need to brush up on some stuff before jumping into precalculus (college algebra) or calc 1.
this chem class in college would be called intro to chemistry or something like that.
when you go to college, you might take chem 1A (the chem class that comes after intro to chem) right off the bat, since you've taken intro to chem in high school.
+Tylercrazy101 9th, turnip
lord i hate chemistry
same. and I have a test tomorrow :(
good luck!! i had one today; i understand your pain
grey idk haha thank you! I hope your test went well too :)
Count me in! It's suckiest subject everr!
it hurts my brain and is the most confusing thing in the world
يالله قد اش ساعدتني شرحك اوضح من مقطع 30 دقيقة، شكراً 😭😭😭😭😭
Neon, Atomic radius: 38 pm
Lithium, Atomic radius: 152 pm
Neon is smaller than Lithium by a LOT.
My chemistry teacher taught me everything and you just did a perfect job in helping me memorize it. Thank you so much, greatly appreciate it!
still useful asf even after 9 years, thank you for your work
this is my favorite chem video. dude you rock. you got it
My friend, you are a true hero.
I've been coming back to your video for years because no one explains it as clearly as you :)
Thanks man! helping me through college 1 video at a time!
Wow. Amazing video! just saved me about 30min studying this stuff! Thanks man!
Thankssssss!!! you have no idea how much this helped me. God bless you! 👍👏👍
wow, this was so much easier to understand compared to my teacher, thank you for posting this!!!!
I found out the school system likes to over complicate everything!!!! u just summarized 12 pages worth of information into this five minute video, thank u!
i fw this guy
thank you. this made soo much more sense. i finally get it now.
this is actually pretty helpful. thanks a lot!
You a REAL ONE. Thanks
Thank you so much, now I can visualize a logic summary
u just summed this up better than my teacher ever will
thank u!
In Ionisation Enthalpy I think it's easy to remove the electron from aluminium because its configuration is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p1, So by losing an electron, it will gain stable full filled subshell whereas in Calcium its 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 4s2. It already has a full filled subshell So its extra stable due to symmetry, So it's pretty hard to remove electron form calcium as compared to aluminium.
I appreciate .Good work done.
You the man Nate!
watching this video right before my exam, really saved me time in learning this
thanks
It's my exam in Chemistry later but the teacher couldn't explain it much. Thank you so much for this trick! I hope I will pass.

Thank you so much! I didn't know this and I have a test on Monday
Omg I love your way of teaching
Thank you for this video, the day before yesterday I got a 5/20 on a quiz then yesterday I got a 71% on the test bc of this video so thank you

Bestest way to remember !
thank you so so much
it was really helpful
thanks
Can you answer in this question?
Q\Rearrange the following ions according to decreases of the ionic radius F-1 ,Si+4 ,Na+1,Mg+2,Al+3, what is the reason of that ?
very helpful, thank you
THANK you!
As you say.... A Piece of cake...... :)
how would you compare ionisation energy of Ca and Ba??
this was a really good video. thank you
*whoa. found an army in a chem video.*
@@itskim9790 yess
God bless u man
thank you sir
Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't "Cl" has the highest EA of all the elements?
THANK YOU
I know this was a while back, but in case anyone is wondering, this can be proven with basic logic. If you take two magnets and put the opposite sides close together, the force of attraction will be greater than if they are farther away. This is the idea with an atom. Because elements on the right have more protons, and therefore more positive pull on the electrons, they are pulled in closer to the nucleus rendering a smaller atom. (effective nuclear force and Coulombs Law)
awesome you really saved me
it's a good way to remember these, but better to put them in between their logic or definitions so that the person can know why it's happening, and to avoid answering questions like "why?" with "idk....i just know that is it!"
THANKYOU
that's it!? OMG youre awesome!!
i literally have an ap chem final tmrrw and i’m 100% lost 💀
Ty
i love you man.
This helps so much~!
i also want ur periodic table ! its awesome 😂😂
THANK YOU OMG
