    She forgot to mention something very important regarding the Ionization Energy part; Another exception other than the two she named is that the NOBLE GASES are going to have the HIGHEST ionization energy since they are so stable it is going to require the most energy to remove an electron.

    • @harmie1743
      @harmie1743 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Do the noble gases follow the same vertical trend (higher row the noble gas is, higher IE compared to lower noble gases?

    • @erikacorona7413
      @erikacorona7413 2 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      @@harmie1743 No, because now another component has to be taken into consideration; orbit size. The bigger the orbit the less energy it’ll need to removed an electron since it’s so far away from the nucleus now and the smaller it is the harder it is to remove an electron since it’s closer to the nucleus. So when you are going down the noble gases periodically they get bigger and bigger thus less IE.
      Therefor the most IE will reside with the noble gas of Helium.

    18:12 - one way I can recognize which is larger is because Br has 35 protons while Kr has 36 protons, the 35 protons in the Br nucleus is going to have less of a pull to the 36 electrons compared to the pull of Kr's 36 protons so Br will be larger. Understanding this requires understanding the shielding effect, but for me it's helpful to know the why behind anions being larger.

    Thank you so much for the lesson, understood it like a gem. I'd like to add a suggestion regarding the questions: I think you should add complex comprehensive questions as well or more of a diversity because there was really two distinct structural questions. One, that was about this element vs. this element, two, was about ordering elements in ascending order due to their properties. I reckon if you added perhaps two other indefinite structural questions, it would challenge the understanding of the viewer.
    Anyway, thank you :) Your videos are very helpful in terms of learning the content. I will start chemistry this year with the knowledge you gave to me, which in that, is powerful.

    I have been looking through my chemistry book for over 2 hours now, I asked the teacher, and searched everywhere on how to calculate the ionization energy and what are the exceptions, you were the only one who explained it very well and simply, I thank you so much.
    btw if you were interested the question I had, it was:
    In which of the following does the second element have a lower first ionisation energy than the first element?
    a)S. O
    b)Li. Be
    c)Mg. Al
    d)Si. C
    and from what I understood from the video the answer should be c). please correct me if I am wrong
    thank you.

    Hello , I like your way of teaching as it is easy to understand.
    Thank you for helping us.
    will you be able to come up with more complex topics ? such as thermodynamics , chemical kinetics and many more.

    I think all tutors should be teachers because tutors actually WANT to help a student understand their work! “Regular teachers” just kinda stand at the front of the classroom or lecture hall and blubber about whatever, and don’t seem to care if students understand anything or not because it’s “not their job to learn because they’re not the student” (lol okay what?)

    My summer Chemistry 1 professor gives us links to your videos instead of him posting lecture videos. That's how you know you have a great way of explaining things.
