That technique you're using laying the rod over to the left, then the right is very effective. It confuses the king and a lot of times he will stop running downstream and turn and go upstream. it has saved a few fish for me.
Those clarus rods are the best bang for the buck there is!!!! Love mine! I have a couple 13ft and the 11'3 for smaller tribs!
I live in texas and theres nothing like this down here...when i lived in Indiana wed always go up to michigan for steelhead and sometimes hit up trail creek...need to make a trip up eventually!

Awesome fishing, you get some great footage and really deserve to have much more subs. Just caught a 40 inch king myself yesterday, took me about 20 minutes to bring him in. BTW, that shot of the Huron at the beginning was absolutely beautiful

Nice vid! I need to make a trip to the Michigan side. There are so many people in the rivers in Wisconsin that you cant even hole hop or fish different runs because, it is shoulder to shoulder and if you move even a foot someone else will budge in.
This river is shoulder to shoulder too, but most people are on the gravel now and not the holes

I was taught chuck and duck for kings up there....flossing....no one has ever taken the time to show me how to do it right. (I haven't been up there in years) Thank you, looking forward to trying a bobber and skein next season.
Awesome video Fray, I went up a few weeks ago and used the same rig you showed a couple of videos ago, caught a 20lb buck chinook on my third drift of the day our first day. Definitely a hot run this year with some massive fish. Float fishing Skein definitely works well, just gotta find the right spot and the right fish to bite. Keep up the good work and thank you for the help!

Just got done with a salmon trip on the Manistee. First time catching a salmon it was great. This makes me want to go back for some steelhead.
On tippy dam? Im planning to go this weekend to manistee but im completely new to salmon fishing. Went 2 weeks ago to muskegon was a complete fail. Not trynna get skunked again. Any help would be appreciated man
Yeah I was at tippy dam. I suggest going with some heavy spoons and some deep diving minnows and stuff and the snag will keep you in the game. There was a lot up there. I fished a lot but didn’t get very many I think it’s cause I’m inexperienced. Good luck bro!
Also a lot of people were using a fly and trout bead with some spawn and that seemed to get em to bite.

I go through my rig in a few of my previous videos this season. any bobber rig you see me using with my centerpin setup can also be used on a spinning rod or baitcaster.

Keep your rod tip straight up to the sky, if you want to increase your landing rate.
Run your row bag on the bottom not the upper hook with the line attached to it , you won't lose as many fish

23 pound blood run mainline, 15lb blood run fluorocarbon leader
Steelhead will be good here soon if we ever get enough rain. Hooked one last week but lost it.

You can rip on the flossers all you want but at the end of the day we ain't as bad as the guys foul hooking fish on purpose. Totally legit method of Salmon fishing.

i love the fight of the fish, but don't enjoy the taste of the meat. i'll pass up salmon meat for crappie, jumbos, any panfish lol thats just me though!

@@FishFray why? I fish both ways. So what if people floss. If they get it in the mouth. I get 8/10 in the mouth when I floss. Its hard to float when people move in on you.
@@denydeny320 I don't really care when people floss but the problem here is when these fish get flossing rigs and sinkers drug across their face all day they shut down and won't bite like this. There is plenty of water to floss but when people dredge flossing rigs through actual holes like this they keep people from catching them legitimately on skein, hardware, etc.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 clearly you've never been to the oacific side of the country. Our salmon actually are andranomous and go from river- ocean- back to river. They have red meat. I would never eat the bs you guys cafvh over there. It looks liek tapioca pudding when i seen this dude filet one. Like wtf. Thats not salmon.
