Mama Ru, you're the auntie I always wish I had. I can relate - I once went to a conference based on tolerance and speaking across differences and all the group did was talk about differences and oppression. It was painful to not elevate the conversation and be forced to stay stuck.
From personal experience: I spent years in my 30's as a beauty queen by day (beauty pageants all over the country) and a drag king by night (performing locally and in New Orleans). It was the most liberating time of my life to be able to be on the far end of each spectrum. I was always an open minded person and drag started as a joke with a friend, but it turned into something that was an incredible journey. I still do it a couple of times a year (health issues and age) and love being in that area of my own head. It takes a ton of self confidence and self awareness to push yourself over those limits and taking that stuff off the shelf! Very very powerful message RuPaul. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!

I get what he is saying about drag going “mainstream”,as popular as it may seem our culture as a whole is very much “Sleep” and will never,well at least in our time,will ever wakeup. It’s so funny he just said “why do you have to put me in a thing, why can’t I just be”. This is how I love to view people. I love to just let them be. In all honesty, life is so enriching that way. You get interesting conversations, you meet interesting people, you make connections, you sometimes make good friends. As long as people follow the simple rules of life, like respecting others, be a law binding citizen I’m in your corner...Ru always give good talk.
Let me say this....I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Ru!! I can appreciate that he doesn't view himself as black....or white...or gay.....or straight.....he's "just Ru" and I can completely relate!! However, enlightened as he comes across, the reality of things is he does not know what lies beyond this world. I heard him make statements like (I'm paraphrasing) the devil is in your mind - it's not real. You are a God, and can live exactly how you'd like because nothing will happen. Drugs are fine....etc....The bottom line is those are his opinions and not him or anyone for that matter can speak on such things. I wish him the best of luck however, and really enjoy listening to him.

It’s so funny he just said “why do you have to put me in a thing, why can’t I just be”. This is how I love to view people. I love to just let them be. In all honesty, life is so enriching that way. You get interesting conversations, you meet interesting people, you make connections, you sometimes make good friends. As long as people follow the simple rules of life, like respecting others, be a law binding citizen I’m in your corner...Ru always give good talk.

Let me say this....I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Ru!! I can appreciate that he doesn't view himself as black....or white...or gay.....or straight.....he's "just Ru" and I can completely relate!! However, enlightened as he comes across, the reality of things is he does not know what lies beyond this world. I heard him make statements like (I'm paraphrasing) the devil is in your mind - it's not real. You are a God, and can live exactly how you'd like because nothing will happen. Drugs are fine....etc....The bottom line is those are his opinions and not him or anyone for that matter can speak on such things. I wish him the best of luck however, and really enjoy listening to him.
