The Texas “Toast” wedge is definitely something to have in the bag because it works, and because it’s so weird looking, that’s it’s cool! Plus, if the course suddenly flash floods, I could use it to paddle back to the clubhouse!

Do chippers count as a strange short game device? Because if so, it's still not my Square Strike, it's my 72 degree lob wedge. I have also purchased 2 Cleveland Niblick Chippers (37° and 49° I think) and an old club called the Equalizer that I think it just a 45° wedge. Also a 68° wedge that has almost no bounce. It's flat on the ground.

Do carbite golf products....ie the viperbite wedge with sand blasted face. The woods and driver were sand blasted, or the putter with tungsten weights in the heel and toe
I have had both the alien wedge and the pure spin diamond coated face wedge. The pure spin destroyed the ball and left a flat spot where it peeled/ground the cover of the ball making it unsuitable for further play after one strike. The alien was quite good but awkward to use properly.

My first wedge was a Pat Simmons that had rows of dimples instead of grooves, but it wasn't the Alien. Can't imagine it was any good but worth Al looking for this club just for the novelty value. May also explain why I ended up so twitchy over short shots that one Club Pro started calling me The Flamingo because I kept ending up on one leg.

If the square drivers were still around you could have quite a nice combo set of squares both top and bottom of the bag. Add one of those Scotty Cameron futura square putters and you're all set :-)
