I agree 1000% I ended up getting the clockwork version as well but now I have a harsey folder for each of my boys to inherit one day! They get to fight over who gets the spartan babe and who gets the clockwork variants. I also had to go buy an inkosi because I wanted something just as good as a hersey but that I could edc without worrying about dropping and screwing it all up. The crk inkosi is perfect for that. Which hersey folder did ya end up going with?
what a great channel, i think your channel is going to do very well and im rooting for you. i would reccommend getting a regrind on the Harsey to give it better cutting geometry and a sharpening choil, you can get all that done for around 60 -70 $
Holy shit!!! Uhm man I've been a giant fan of your channel for yours now! I started collecting in 2020 and I've followed you since 2021 I can't believe ypu watched my video. It's an honor to meet you man you do so much for the edc knife community and I personally have learned a t9n from you Shabazz and metal complex so again thanks for the advice and the view! I still can't believe you saw my video haha. Sorry kinda starstruck but hey I hope you have a great night brutha!
@H20cofilmandphoto2112 absolutely and thank you for the kind words, maybe we can get you on the channel sometime and get you some more followers 👊 just hit me up and we can set something up
@Neeves Knives hey on another topic I'm just curious about this telegram message I got "from you." Concerning a giveaway. Is this authentic. do you use telegram for your giveaways as I supposedly just won a crk mnandi from someone replying to a comment I left on your video.
yes it is... that's how they describe it - as for the glove wearing - if you're planning on reselling, I guess I could see that - but it's meant to be heald by a human hand, flesh to metal - not with a hand condom on... it's kinda ridiculous - I see people do that with super high end timascus, that stuff prints like crazy - but the Harsey is meant to be patina'd... battle worn - so to say.
thanks for the info . amazing video . I am new on this amazing world of pocket knifes. you make it easy to understand . I am trying to go high end between this to knifes brands . you make my decision easier . thanks so much.
Thank ypu very much! It's funny I'd actually saved up originally for a sabenza 31 but fortunately I was able to find monkeys edge near my home. There online but also have a brick and mortar store so I was able to hadle a sabenza for the first time. It had always been my grail knife. But after holding both the sabenza and the spartan. I immediately changed my mind. I know they say sabenzas break in and there not supposed to be fall shut. But this harsey folder is right out the box yet somehow still manages to keep that hydrolic feeling in its disengagement its almost like the detent is better on the harsey. I most likley will eventually buy a sebenza but for now I have zero regrets for this being my first $400+ folder. Very happy with it.
Ive been looking at a Harsey for a while now... Really want one... SUprisingly I only just noticed the lack of a good sharpening choil... why do they do that?!?
Own both... The SHF gets more pocket time!! Actually l just picked up a Second Harsey..I Definitely need to get a regrind from BGM just haven't got around to it Great Vid!!
Once you start looking at folders like spartan hiderer crk you start to find out they're almost the entry price level of higher end knives. Its kinda crazy
As someone who just got their first CRK, I agree. CRK made the rest of my collection feel like toys, and now I'm already looking for the next step up on the ladder.
In my personal opinion, I think people need to look at comparisons between different companies more objectively. Ruger can make an affordable gun because demand is higher, production quantity is higher and they have over 70 years of history. Knives beyond 40 dollars is already a niche market let alone, highend production. The cost of rent, materials, mills/tooling, labor and etc for very small companies like spartan is just a lot more unfortunately. But overall great review! The SHF is a good one!
Greetings from a Tiny Island in Maine, USA - nice review. So how is this beauty holding up for you? Love the knife and am also curious if you noticed and wear on the colors in the design fading / scratching etc. also did you ever get a re-grind / add a choil ? Also dislike the missing D pivot screw! Would like to see a follow up video.
I have three Sebenza 31s and three Spartan Harsey. Both brands have stamped titanium pocket clips. My 2023 (deVince) Spartan has a steel shoe at the end of the frame lock. The Spartan feels better in my hand but I like them both
Yeah I like tge Spartans better in hand as well but I rarely carry either of mine just because of the artwork on them....funny thing is I know that I'll keep them prestige for my sons who will eventually inherite them but they'll probably have them destroyed within month haha
@@H20cofilmandphoto2112sounds like you need the plane titanium version of the harsey 😉. Although even their anodized handles look good with some honest wear on them.
I'm guessing you won't be disappointed! The spartan harsey special editions are some of the most amazingly beutifal yet still practical foldersbever made in my opinion. I still keep mine under my pillow unless I'm going to some super fancy event. I'm still to worries I'd drop it and scratch it up....kinda why I bought my inkosi. Lol but hey man I hope you enjoy the blade and thanks so much for the view man!
@@H20cofilmandphoto2112 I bought the leather pouch for it as well as the scarf to wrap it in from Spartan blades. I doubt I’m gonna want to edc it because it’s so expensive. 😭
@cheshire2.047 don't feel bad about it lol I feel the same way infact it's the sole reason that I ended up purchasing the CRK inkosi. It's basically the same solid build with a slicier blade, in fact when spartan and Bill harsey designed the Harsey folder they had a sit down with Chris reeves and went over his designs and why there so solid. So it's very much inspired by the sabenza or inkosi series of knives. My logic is Chris reeves will refinish my inkosi scales for free with there spa treatment so I edc it constantly and it at least allows me to carry something comparable to the harsey forlder....although I may end up just picking up a plain Jane harsey for esc purposes In The end amd keep the special edition in my display case as a grail knife! Haha. Great choice man you gotta tell me how you end up liking it.
I just bought the 3.25 shf join or die in S45vn. Aw knife. Very smooth. I think the Spartan is better than crk sebenza due to the shf having thumb studs on both sides
These Spartans are gorgeous knives. I have a couple of their fixed blade knives and they are top notch. I really want a plague doctor model. People need to understand this knife is more for light to moderate use. If you need a beater for a construction job or military use, get a Spyderco or Buck.
I personally don’t have any use for frame and liner locks. They are extremely cheap to make and they are a weak point. I really find it funny when someone says this is overbuilt. Yet it has a frame lock. Anyone that doesn’t understand. Just look up old coldsteel test videos. Even if you don’t like or agree with coldsteel. They did the best most fair test. I’ve had a liner fail so I will never carry those types of knives. People don’t understand the marketing bull these knife companies are pulling to get people to pay big money for a very cheap to make knife. I’m really upset American companies used to mean quality and best materials. Nowadays it means overpriced with lies and a excuse. My other favorite con the warranty. If I buy a knife and it fails . I don’t want it fixed. It should not have failed why would I want another one. Almost everyone offers a warranty it shouldn’t make the knives cost more.
I would guess that it depends on what ypu call hard use. I've had about 30 to 40 liner locks throughout my life and never had any fail on me but i have seen people beton wood with a frame lock with no issues. If you consider batoning wood a hard use function then yeah its well over built now if ur putting ur knives through hell get a fixed blade.

@@richardhenry1969 well I am 17 so I would say it’s pretty reasonable to still be living in my parents basement lol. So during your regular work day what are you doing to make your lock fail? And have you tried a frame lock or are you to busy being a cold steel meat rider
Just bought one yesterday and I would like to see a way better grind and a sharpening choil. Whom ever sharpens these knife does a terrible job especially by the ricasso and it’s ever so slightly recurved, but other then that it’s a great looking extremely well built knife.
Just picked one up. The only problem with the SHF’s is as soon as you get one you want another one. They are beautiful and absolute tanks.

I believe the titanium is hardened on the lock bar to prevent wear. I could be wrong.
Very possible, Isn't that called carbonizing?

Actually spartan markets them as heavy use and want you to heavy use them. We just can’t because they are too nice.
that's why you buy two - one dressed up, and the other plain jane - it's a tool - use it that way I say, unless your pockets are deep - then get 2
