I'm nearly 40. Best thing about music production and audio engineering, you can literally do it until you're dead and no one will ever look at you funny (unless you stay unprofitable). We get to even work on things like films and games. Rapping...not so much just yet, but people like Jay Z, and groups like Grizelda are definitely helping that fight.

There's no emphasis on producers anymore because no one is original. Back then, a producer created the foundation of how an album sounded. For example Mannie Fresh produced the entire cash money albums, Timbaland and Missy would do the entire Ginuwine or Aaliyah albums, Swizz would do 90% of DMX or EVE albums, Dj Premiere would do the entire Gang Starr album, Jermaine Dupri would produce 90% of Usher album, Tim. and Bob produced entire Bobby Valentino album. Today you don't get that with artists or producers. Every producer today sounds the same. I can't tell who's doing what. Same sound, same drum patterns, hi-hats, snares, etc... A lot of producers today can't produce an album because they're not producers in their own right.
There originality out there still.....Its either stolen and refashioned or stomped out through bad critique.....And after rereading, producers are rethinking being secluded to one group....
